Awesome speakers!
by kc330i ,Feb 08 '06
Pros: Sounds great, clean and smooth bass, and looks good
Cons: The sub might be a little too big for some computer desks.
I just picked these speakers up yesterday after doing a little research on PC speakers. I gotta admit.. I'm pretty impressed with the clarity and performance of these speakers. The amount of bass that the sub provides is amazing for such a little woofer. Klipsch is known for their crisp, clean sound, (equal to or better than Bose) at an affordable price. Highly recommended for gamers and music lovers.

HUGE Let Down - Avoid at ALL Costs
by mikeshenanigan ,Sep 07 '05
Pros: None. These speakers blow.
Cons: Cheap cheap cheap!!!!! Boomy sub good for nothing.
[UPDATE: Klipsch has agreed to replace the volume control on the satellite speaker. They acknowledged how problematic this system has been in terms of the DIN connector. In all fairness their tech support people treated me very well. If this problem is fixed, I will update my review. Stay tuned.]

I'm not even going to spend a minute discussing the sound of these speakers.

Why?

Because the proprietary connector that connects the speakers to the sub woofer is a piece of cheap CRAP and start failing me only after three months of use.

I only have sound out of one speaker now. For real. the ONLY way I can get sound out of the right speaker is to literally hold and press the idiotic connector to the sub woofer juuuuuuuuust right so it makes connection.

Well worth even $100 more than retail.
by hooting_monkey ,Nov 03 '03
Pros: Very nice components. High quality sound. Fuses, now we can't burn the amps!
Cons: Still expensive, they are far below Cambridge's setups of the same performance. Poor cables.
I cried the first day after I bought these monsters. No not tears of sadness and frustration, but ones of joy. Though the design is not groundbreaking, the high quality components and higher than average wattage make these shine. Still these are not the absolute best 2.1 media speakers they come very close. Cambridge Soundworks have got their work cut out for 'em.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's Deliver!
by hnlute ,Feb 28 '06
Pros: Build Quality, Great Bass, Smooth Silky Highs, Wide Range 32-20 Khz.
Cons: Not free...but almost!
Klipsch has made many wonderful speakers over the years, most have been many multiples of dollars over the price of this marvelous system. The deep bass is easy to reach at amazingly high listening levels and the satellite units deliver smooth wide ranging mids and highs.
The build quality is excellent and the hookup is easy. They are sensitive enough to be driven by (of all things) an iPod Shuttle and will pump out great sounds at ease. These are strong performers, get them now while you still can as they are getting harder and harder to find.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 PC speaker
by mpippel ,Jan 01 '04
Pros: Awesome Sound & more than enough power to fill the house.
Cons: skimpy speaker wire.. inconvenient power switch
Totally awesome speakers. Worth every penny!
They are more powerful than most people's home
theater! I only use subwoofer at 25%
and volume at 50% and they rock our 2,000 Sq foot
house!

Whatever you paid (I paid $179.00) they are
worth every penny and more..

spectacular highs, great lows, mid-range somewhat lacking
by arnold4321 ,Jun 10 '06
Pros: incredible, clear highs; way more volume than I'll ever need; excellent sub
Cons: mid-range is absent; you might have to get on all fours to turn it on/off
These speakers got very high marks from users at CNET. I can't quite make up my mind about them. The highs are spectacular -- better than anything I've heard from any speaker. The sub woofer is very good... I mean, I barely turn the dial past zero most of the time due to neighbor guilt. Mid-range, though, is lacking, making the speakers sound a little too much like what they are: computer speakers. Efforts to get better mid-range by adjusting my EQ only serve to further exhibit the limitations of the satellites in this area.

Still, I'm fairly happy with them. They make classical, acoustic and jazz sound spectacular. And vocals are downright spooky. I miss the mid-range when I listen to rock and pop, though.

My other complaint: Volume and sub controls are on the satellite, which makes perfect sense, but the power switch is behind the sub, so depending on where you put the sub, you might have to crawl under a table to turn the speakers on and off. Would it really have been that hard to put the power switch on the satellite?

Pro Media 2.1
by beech95 ,Apr 23 '06
Pros: Great hi, mid & lows
Cons: Still looking for one
Wow. I needed a system for my PC that wouldn't clutter the area with speakers everywhere, and yet have terrific sound and I finally found it. I came so close to buying others numerous times. I'm glad I did the research. What the others say is true. For a 2.1 system, these speakers are awesome! Great high and mid-range, with adjustable level floor-pounding bass, all the while, absolutely clear response. No hiss, no crackle, no BS. Go ahead. Do it. You won't be disappointed. 4-21-06

Klipsch promedia 2.1 review
by epinions1600 ,Feb 20 '04
Pros: Sound quality and price.
Cons: There is no remote control with these speakers.
First off I am not an expert audiophile. Although, I have a fairly good ear and can tell quality speakers from cheap ones. I've been through the 5.1 speakers setups where you've got speakers coming out of your behind. They sound good, but what a pain. I finally came to the realization that, for my purposes, I don't want or need speakers in every inch of my house. If this sounds like you, the Klipsch promedia 2.1 provide everything you need. They produce rich, enjoyable sound for a decent price. Don't be afraid to crank these babies up, they can fill a room with sound. The sub pounds, and the two speakers produce top quality sound. These are NOT your dad's computer speakers. These are made for people who use their computers to play music and watch movies and demand good sound. If you are in the market for a 2.1 setup, look no further than the Klipsch's 2.1.

Accurate sound quality
by une55 ,Dec 13 '03
Pros: Sound Quality, Power, A+++
Cons: Poor Connections
The Klipsch company really knows how to produce great sound. I purchased this product for listening to mp3 files on my computer and the quality that comes out of this combo of speakers is very.....well QUALITY. It is well worth the investment. The controls are laid out really simply with the the volume and sub level knobs on the front of the speaker. The subwoofer produces room filling bass that is so clean, never does it cut or sound muddy. This system is a very quality product that will easily fill a large living room or basement with quality sound, like it does in mine.

Only does Klipsch lack in the use of headphone jack like connections to connect the two smaller speakers together. If you move the connector wrong you will find you have no sound out of that speaker.

Don't waste your time
by stinger12345 ,Jan 06 '08
Pros: Affordable.
Cons: Subwoofer can't handle high volumes, speakers are not trustworthy even out of the box.
I bought this from Best Buy at a good price. I brought it home and quickly hooked it up in a matter of minutes. I started playing songs at a low volume, and it sounded great. But as soon as I turned the volume up to a decent level, the subwoofer could not handle it. To add insult to injury, the right speaker did not even work right out of the box. After being disgusted with the quality at high sound levels and bewildered that one speaker was not functioning, I packaged it up and returned it after 45 minutes of good testing. In the same day, I took it back to Best Buy and got the Logitech Z-2300. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Do yourself a favor, don't waste your time with this, get the Logitech Z-2300 and save a few dollars, while getting a much higher quality sound system at the same time.

Amazing room filling sound!
by jrindenver ,Jan 19 '08
Pros: Amazing room filling sound! Clear and bright, they make mp3's sound like albums!
Cons: Power switch is on the back of the sub.
I read several reviews before purchasing these speakers. I was just looking for a pair of reasonably priced speakers with good sound for my computer. These are THX certified and sound absolutely amazing! Every time someone comes over I crank up the sound and people say they sound better than most home stereo systems. The speakers sound bright and the bass is extremely full. These are by far better than any computer speaker system I have ever heard. 200 watts of total power.

There is a headphone and mini jack for ipods on one of the front speakers which is convenient. The same speaker has sub and main volume controls.

The front grills come off easy, and the whole system looks great and does not take up too much room. The subwoofer is large but will easily fit under a computer desk.

Great computer system
by asulca593 ,Feb 26 '06
Pros: Great sound at all levels, 2 inputs for audio, easy setup
Cons: Power switch on the back of the subwoofer
I have enjoyed listening to these quality speakers ever since I got them. Setup was very easy. The highs are crisp, mids are clear, and the bass booms unbelievably well for a 6" sub (credit the sub box design). I also like having 2 audio inputs and a headphone jack.

Being able to adjust the subwoofer level from the speaker is a great feature. The only thing that bothers me is having the power switch on the back side of the subwoofer. There is no heat sink on the back of the subwoofer, so the back gets kind of warm after being on for a while (though Klipsch says this is normal).

The speaker wires seem thin and may not bring the speakers to their full potential, but they are more than adequate for the average listener.

Excellent Speakers at great price
by xieqi_pei ,Apr 18 '08
Pros: Easy setup, excellent sound quality. Easily accessible volume and subwoofer controls. Great price.
Cons: None yet.
I had a set of $1200 NHT Pro monitors hooked up to my mac to listen to music and do some sound editing in Soundtrack Pro, but it was a pain to have to get an interface (M-Audio) to hook the 1/4" balanced outputs to. It's a lot of clutter on the desktop. I decided to set up the sound editing in a different room so researched getting another speaker set to replace it- this would be just to listen to music- alternative, classical, jazz, everything. I came upon this Klipsch speaker system and am comparing them right now in the same place, switching between sets and have to say, they sound GREAT! The clarity, highs and bass are comparable if not better- at least for music listening. At the price I got them for- $134.99- they are a steal and highly recommended.

Great Sound - Bad Experiences
by hinrich ,Apr 27 '04
Pros: Nice sound, good enough for home entertainment system and great customer service for us Canadians.
Cons: Buggy connectors. Also the screws for the mounts won't unscrew.
As soon as I got my speakers, it blew 2 fuses so I had to exchange them.

Since then I used the second set for almost a year, the sound was so good, I kept my old computer speakers with the computer downstairs and used these as part of my low budget home entertainment system (I hooked them up to my DVD player and portable CD player) Aside from the fact that the screws would NOT unscrew from the mounts, they served my purposes well.

Then a month before my warranty expired, the right channel stopped working so I was stuck with only one speaker. I returned them to Klipch's Canadian distribution warehouse in Mississauga Ontario and they sent me new speakers within 2 business days.

Hopefully Klipsch has corrected these problems.

Wow! Could there be a...
by quixtwix_dt3000 ,Jul 20 '02
Wow! Could there be a better 2.1 sound system for computers... I had other 4.1 and 5.1 systems, but this one blew them away! With Klipsch running 200 watts of power and generating 108db's of sound! You can't get any better with a 2.1 system! I have seen 5.1 systems with a 200 watt rating, but this is a 2.1 system WITH A THX certification! The price is a little high, but for the sound and quality you get it, it's worth it! This thing can match some home systems with a base station and 5 speakers and so on! You'll be impressed!!!
