My Newer Photo Taking Digital Buddy

by vemartin Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Oct 21 '07
Pros: Small, lightweight, 7.1MP 12X zoom; accepts SD/MMC memory cards; compatible with EasyShare Printer Dock Plus.
Cons: None so far.
I loathe computer class; sounds funny coming from a self-avowed computer geek and IT Professional, but there is the bare naked truth. But occasionally I walk away from a course with more than just cursory knowledge of this or that new software product; ...

Not for me -- but maybe for you.

by kenprospero , Mar 24 '08
Pros: Price, excellent zoom, some control over features.
Cons: Can't use filters, can't control white balance. Not a camera to grow with.
My search for a new camera started when my Nikon 5700 died. That camera was at the perfect level for me. It would take pictures automatically when that was called for, but gave me control over most of the features (focusing being the major exception) ...

An incredible camera for the price

by shamino , Aug 27 '07
Pros: 12x zoom, great picture quality, fast action.
Cons: Poor documentation. Doesn't include rechargeable batteries.
Kodak cameras have always impressed me. They offer much more of a camera than anybody else does at the same price point. The Z712IS is no exception. I bought this camera because of its 12x zoom lens and 7.1MP resolution. I frequently attend ...

Fantastic Camera for the money

by bkunkle , Sep 07 '07
Pros: Phenomenal camera at a fantastic price with a zoom to knock your socks off
Cons: No hotshoe, no RAW support
I want to begin by agreeing with everything that shamino says in his review of this camera. If you are thinking that a good camera has to be made in Japan, this one can change your mind. I paid $180 plus tax (at Dell.com using PayPal) and couldn't be ...

Not so much.

by clone53421 , Apr 20 '08
Pros: -12x optical zoom -Image stabilization -High-ISO mode
Cons: -Rechargeable battery/charger not included -AA batteries won't work -QuickTime video -Lack of on-camera firmware features
The main feature that sold me on this camera was the good 12x zoom lens. In retrospect I should have thought it through further and bought something else. The camera firmware is pretty basic, although Kodak for some reason thought adding ...

Not happy with this camera's batteries.

by shipaddict , Mar 12 '08
Pros: Good pictures.
Cons: Short battery life. This camera eats them fast.
I did a lot of research before purchasing this camera but could find nothing negative so I bought it. At the time it was priced at around $400.00 and came with a "free printer." There were two batteries included and a charger. I charged the batteries and ...

Very versatile, for all levels! Great Camera!

by castle4 , May 24 '08
Pros: 12x zoom, video, LCD preview screen, manual settings, pre-set modes, size,
Cons: lens cap, narrow neck strap
I've owned this camera for over 9 months and am very pleased with it. It's not bulky or heavy, but yet packs a big camera punch! I love taking photos of my kids, landscape, flowers, the moon, close ups, indoor, outside, and shallow depth of field. ...

Not Impressed... but hanging in there

by someguy2000 , Jan 30 '08
Pros: Nice Zoom, cool features
Cons: Blurry pictures on "easy" mode, NO rechargeable battery or charger -- kodak marketing trick
I bought this for the zoom, and for the price. The zoom works as advertised. However, compared to much cheaper Panasonic and Canon that I had in the past, this one takes alot of blurry pictures. The camera has lots of settings and I have to admit ...

For the Money it can't be beat!

by rustyvanhoy23 , Jun 08 '08
Pros: Awesome photo quality. Easy setup. 12x optical zoom!
Cons: does not come with charger. Is a tad bit bulky in the modern digital market.
I was very satisfied with this camera. For the money, it can not be challenged. Setting the camera up was easy, seeing that I had owned a Kodak digital camera before. I really didn't find it all that hard to use. The most difficult part of the process ...

Great Digital / Video Camera!

by princess_angie , Mar 24 '08
Pros: Takes great pictures, built for comfort
Cons: none
I bought this digital camera because I love taking photos. It definitely exceeds my expectations. With the kodak reputation and a maximum 7.1 megapixel capability, it takes wonderful and clear pictures; never seems to disappoint me. I am not an expert ...

Great camera for the price

by advnetopt , Jul 29 '08
Pros: Dependable, picture quality, video quality, price
Cons: no charger, no rechargeable battery, no case
Yes, it doesn't come with a rechargeable battery. Yes it doesn't come with a charger. Yes, it is a bit bulky. Yes the battery life is short. Yes, there isn't much internal memory. But despite all of those things, for the price, the camera is actually a ...

Wouldn't buy this again

by kujo411 , Dec 01 '07
Pros: Makes a decent paper weight
Cons: Horrible battery life, blurry pics, slow processing pics, panorama stinks, software stinks, no rechargable battery
My fiance bought a cheap easy share years ago and it was a horrible camera. We both hated the *&^* out of it. I told her, "that's what you get for buying a kodak camera." Then my small little digital HP camera broke when I dropped it and I went in ...

My friendly digital camera
by crstick ,Jan 29 '08
Pros: Great for the price. Use rechargeable battery and you will have no trouble.
Cons: Should have come with dock and rechargeable battery as part of the camera.
I have had this camera since Christmas and I am very pleased. It is easy to use and understand. I bought rechargeable batteries from the beginning and have had no problem. I use a docking station to recharge the battery.
It takes great pictures and the 12x zoom is the feature I bought it for and it is great. It is an affordable camera and great for the price. The pictures I have had developed are great. It is light weight and when you turn the camera on the lens cap falls off, but that is okay because I have been know to try and take a picture with a lens cap on. I think this is an okay feature.
