Kodak MC3: 3 Functions in One Toy

by naphtalia Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Apr 14 '02
Pros: the mp3 portion has decent sound
Cons: not enough memory. no flash. no viewfinder. poor quality video.
My boss's son is a bit of a technology freak. Whenever he sees a new toy, he has to have it. So it was that he recently saw an advert for the Kodak mc3 - a combination digital still camera, digital video camera and mp3 player, and showed up a couple of...

Great mp3 player, shame about the camera.

by paradoxsm , Jul 26 '02
Pros: Great mp3 player, compact, easy to use.
Cons: Poor quality photos, takes AAA batteries, uses Quicktime for video
I bought this cheaply second hand to use on a trip as a "happy snappy" camera to take on the more adventurous parts of a recent overseas trip and to be able to listen to my favourite musi on the go.

The Mp3 player.
This part is excellent....

MC3, more of an MP3 Player than a Camera.

by deschmann , Apr 11 '01
Pros: Great MP3 Player, also does good job with Quick Time movies.
Cons: VGA Quality pictures aren't too good, doesn't support smart media card.
Bridging the Technology Gap:
The MC3 "Camera" from Kodak, is the first in a new wave of technology. This product bridges a gap that most consumers didn't even know existed. This camera can do it all, not literally :).

The MC3...

Lopsided device falls short

by trevor_d , Apr 18 '01
Pros: High-quality movies, long battery life, easy-to-use MP3 controls
Cons: Hard to see LCD screen, no viewfinder, no flash, can't use it indoors
The mc3 is an okay idea, but is almost half a product. I almost wish I could see the next version of this, because I'm sure it would be something I'd be happier with. The mc3 is a multimedia device for capturing digital stills and video and for listening...

MP3/Video/Cam - Convergance for the Good

by razedvector , May 20 '01
Pros: Cool Features, Combined System, Nice holding.
Cons: No flash/light, Does not perform in low light.
For several years now, everyone from news portals, to traditional media, to technology pundits have been predicting the up and coming of a convergence of technology. In 1997, people were saying that by 2001, we would be utilizing the Internet on our...

Kodak owes us an apology

by jdhpolson , Apr 29 '01
Pros: Small, attractive design, nice interface, high degree of multifunctionality
Cons: Poor image/movie quality, very fragile, no carry case, expensive (considering package)
For all of the hype surrounding the Mc3 (just check out the Mc3 exchange at http://www.kodak.com/US/en/digital/cameras/mcXchange/index.jhtml for an example of this), you would have thought that this camera was a miracle of design, something that digital...

Finally worth your money....

by drkatz , Jan 08 '02
Pros: Half the price it used to be...Video/mp3/stills PLAYS MP3PROS!!!
Cons: Jack of all trades, master of none!
I wanted this last year about now, but, patient as i am, I waited for reviews. They came in quick, and it wasn't good.
At about 200 dollars for the 16 meg version, the mediocre quality of the camera just wasn't enough to support the addition of an...

Mediocre at everything, with a fatal flaw.

by casualsuede , Jul 06 '01
Pros: Decent video, decent mp3 capability, photo size perfect for emailing.
Cons: Battery compartment would not close, no flash, poor software, streaky pictures.
The MC3 was probably a good idea at the concept stage. Give the customer the biggest bang for the buck! Of course, they did not work out the fact that putting all this in such a small package would either mean

1. It would be very expensive....

Great if you know what you are getting into

by Putt4295 , Jul 03 '01
Pros: Simple to use, performs basic functions easily, portable, perfect for certain uses
Cons: No flash, hard to see screen, no zoom
First of all, I agree with most of the opinions already written. The MC3 does not take the GREATEST pictures nor is it a very good video camera (as a matter of fact, it is in no way a substitute for a video cameras), and it is a middle of the road mp3...

A fun toy

by baggachipz , Apr 19 '01
Pros: Fun to play with; excellent mp3 player; good digital video
Cons: No flash; Software is horrible
The idea of this product is great. The fact I could get a mp3 player, a digital camera, and a digital video camera for under 300 dollars made it a great purchase. It performs all of these actions well; the lack of flash makes me realize that I use one...

Nice Toy, no guts.

by ahigdon , Jul 11 '01
Pros: Compact, hand held 3 in one toy. Easy to record and 'port data.
Cons: Quality suffers. Mp3 control is basic, and photo/video touch ups are needed for each photo.
The Kodak mc3 got me really excited. I searched to find it everywhere when I heard about it. I bought the first one I could find, and with trembling hands took it out of the box. It was soo pretty and compact, I took it everywhere for a week. I had 3...

The digital camera for teens

by greenbeans2004 , Oct 30 '01
Pros: Its small and compact
Cons: There is no flash on the camera
If you have a teen who downloads mp3s or likes making short movies or even taking pictures, then this is the camera for them or you. The space on the camera allows you to put at least one hour of mp3s, or 120 pictures, or 5 minutes worth of movie time....

Kodak's MC3 - digital camera, camcorder, and mp3 player in one!

by spamghetti , Dec 26 '02
Pros: Neat compact design. A good price for digital camera/camcorder/mp3 player.
Cons: Difficult to see screen in low light; quality of construction could be better...
I really like how the MC3 looks. Slightly bigger than a deck of cards, and it can play MP3s, take digital pictures, and record video clips. The MP3s are in realjukebox format. The videos are in quicktime format. You can sync it with your computer...

Bad quality...Not worth it!

by amfiteatro , Dec 05 '01
Pros: *Many functions *Good battery usage for the three AAA batteries.
Cons: *Quality of videos and photos is poor without much light.
The mc3 is easy to use which is definitely a plus, however

The monitor is nearly useless in may lighting situations, since the only time I could see clear images was outdoors where there is much light. Indoor light was not good enough to...
