Pros: Takes out the hair all other groomers leave behind Cons: Hair everywhere!
October 24, 2003: Update: I still have my original Zoom Groom (I actaully managed not to lose it for a whole year!), and I still love it. There are no signs of wear or tear on the brush and it still works as well as when I bought it. Even bet ...
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Dogs Love It! Cons: Expensive
For 15 years I was blessed with a border collie. For 10 of those years, hair was basically a condiment in our house (salt, pepper, pet hair...). Not only do they blow out their undercoat twice a year, they shed, constantly. Enter the ZoomGroom when ...
My family is the proud owners of a great Jack Russell Terrier. The is very sweet and playful. He also has short, white hair that sheds constantly. When we first brought him home, I knew we were going to have problems with a white haired dog and dark ...
Pros: Gets a lot of hair up and off. Cons: Tastes like the kong toy.
I have labs. They have short coats. Therefore I shouldn't have a problem with shedding, right? Wrong! My dog sheds constantly - every time he shakes dog hair flies everywhere. I dread the change of seasons when he blows his coat and we have clumps...
Pros: The dogs like the feel of it Cons: Doesn't remove hair or work as a good brush
A friend on an e-mail list recommended I try the Zoom Groom for my Cairn. I was just learning to groom her myself, which is a different experience. Cairns have a naturally hard coat. The coat should be handstripped to keep its harshness....
Pros: Easy, small, and it just plain WORKS Cons: None Yet!
I have a chihuahua. His name is Chip and he is about 7 pounds and adorable. However, over the past few months he was shedding so badly that we could no longer let him sleep in the bed since his hair was ruining our comforter. Plus my boyfriend has bad ...
Pros: No more squirming during grooming! Inexpensive and easy to clean. Cons: Difficult to find
I have an adopted beagle, Daisy, who -=hates=- to be brushed with normal dog brushes. I don't know why this is, but she would take one look at the brush and high-tail it out of there, not even to be tempted back with treats or goodies.
Seems to me I have used this brush somewhere on some of my dogs. I can't swear that it's the one I used on my Afghan Hound Alex, a beautiful blond dog that lived up to the dumb blonde jokes. Beauty was what Alex had plenty of, but brains, I don't think...
As a golden retriever owner, I know about shedding. My dog and I won the zoom groom from obedience class and it has easily become his favorite brush! Monty (my golden) stays perfectly still whenever he is brushed with the zoom groom - it must feel good....
Pros: Feels good; quickly pulls dead hair up and out of dog coats Cons: While some hair sticks in the rubber knobs, most just goes everywhere
When I adopted a beagle last summer I thought by choosing a short haired breed I wouldn't have shedding issues ... wrong!!
Regular brushes seemed to just leave all the dead hair right where it was. A couple of minutes twice a week with the Zoom Groom really pulls the dead hair off her coat. The rubber texture acts like a hair magnet, and from her wiggling and tail wagging it sure must feel good ... like a puppy massage!
I groom her outside; the fur tends to pull up out of her coat and then sit on the surface where a quick stroke down her back with my hand brushes it right off ... either to the floor to be vacuumed or out on the lawn to blow away ...
Since I started using the Zoom Groom I see a definite reduction in loose hair around the house, our clothes and the furniture.
Was amazed there was any hair left on my dog... by trout11696 ,Oct 29 '04
Pros: Dog sits longer to be brushed than with other brushes. Cons: Dog thinks this brush is a toy
Found that if you use two Zoom Grooms, or go quickly over the same spot on dog with one brush, it works the best. Couldn't believe the amount of hair that this brush pulled out. Also works really well at getting hair out of carpet that the vacuum won't suck up!
Pros: It gets ALL the loose hair out of your animal's coat. Cons: Somewhat of a mess, but worth the extra effort.
I have a shorthair cat who twice a year sheds excessively every day for months on end. It's on our clothes, furniture, bedding an rugs. I've bought slicker brushes, regular brushes, flea combs, you name it. I bought a Zoomgroom with not very much hope that it would help. When I got home, I sat on the couch and started to use it and huge amounts of hair started coming out. I quickly realized I was going to have to move this process to the floor. I continued brushing and I LITERALLY filled a paper grocery bag with wads of undercoat hair. Funny thing, my kitty LOVED it. The hair was also on my face, arms, hands, t-shirt and the rug, but the ensuing clean up is a small price to pay for the END of the shedding. I only had to do one follow-up brushing and she is completely finished until the fall shedding time.
Fantastic Tool For Shedding Dogs by afarrington ,Sep 11 '06
Pros: Gentle, Easy to use, Gets a lot of hair, Comfortable For the Dog Cons: None
The Zoom Groom is a fantastic tool for dogs who shed. As a professional dog trainer I often run into dogs who refuse to be brushed and groomed. The Zoom Groom is an excellent tool to use in these situations. You just run it over them like a massage and the hair lifts right up and out of the coat. I also use this product with all three of my dogs and they love it. The hair even collects on the bristles and usually can be pulled off in a single sheet. If you have difficulty getting shampoo down to the skin when bathing your dog you can also use this brush in the bath. It gets the soap down to the dog's skin and really gets the fur clean. The only caution you should take is putting a hair collector in the tub. The zoom groom will get out hair while you are bathing and it may clog pipes. I recommend this product to anyone who has problems with shedding. I would also recommend it to anyone whose dog does not care for brushing.
