Pros: Overall value and price, Effetive anti-shake, ergonomics, WB, picture quality and rich premium features. Cons: Shutter noise, USB 2.0 full speed only, lens choice...
Price and Value: Street Price for Konica Minolta 5D w/18-70mm Kit lens: $705 (Online) $899 (MSRP). Big Value: The new 5D from Konica Minolta (KM) retains most of the features from its big brother 7D. While the price of the 7D was well over ...
Pros: Wonderful anti-shake. Smaller, cheaper, lighter than 7D. Cons: Anti-shake slightly weaker than lens-based stabilization, but still very useful.
This camera is the smaller, lighter, and cheaper version of the Minolta 7D. If you're already familiar with the 7D, you only need to read the first section of this review, which summarizes several main differences between the two cameras: What's ...
Pros: Wealth of features, anti-shake is excellent Cons: Grainy LCD, lens has some limitations
I can't say enough about what a great camera this is! This is my third 5-series camera from minolta - I have an old Maxxum 5000 and a Maxxum 5. Between the two, I had three lenses, so being able to reuse all of them with a new DSLR was a major ...
Pros: AF system, AS system, Photo quality, Burst speed, Ergonomics, Features, 2.5"LCD & Price Cons: Loud shutter
I was recently at a party in which one of my friends was firing away pictures of our children at a rabid pace. After I heard him fire off about 150 shots, I went over to ask about his new toy. He was the proud owner of the Maxxum 7D. I took a random shot ...
Pros: Feel great in the hand, nice LCD screen with tons of info, durable. Cons: Why didn't anyone tell me K-M was selling out to Sony?
I'm a long time Minolta fan and user and waited patiently for this product. Well, not too patiently. I just had to get into digital before Minolta could bring their SLR's to market so I bought a Nikon advanced P&S 5400. I love this camera and have taken some great shots, but felt frustrated with it's limitations, especially shutter lag. I'm very glad I held out for the 5D instead of converting to Nikon DSLR's, as is my wife, due to my significant investment in MAXXUM lenses and equipment which are all compatible with the 5D, except for my flashes (darn!). I took this camera to the Alaskan bush where it performed like a trooper and have absolutely nothing negative to say about it.
Pros: Light weight; anti-shake; uses standard lenses. Cons: Flash doesn't automatically pop up.
I swore I'd never go digital - until an out-of-state friend bought a 5D and got a *great* deal from her local camera shop. She told me that K-M was going out of the camera business, and I have a bag full of Minolta lenses, so I sent her the money to get me a 5D. Am I glad I did! This is a super camera for a serious amateur. The anti-shake was a plus for me, whose hands always seem to shake, and the fact that I could use my already-owned lenses was a real plus. I sometimes have trouble remembering which menu I need for a particular function, but that comes with digital territory. The major ones - like under- over-exposure - are easy to find & use. I've taken some wonderful pictures with it, and haven't put film into my film camera in a year now.
Pros: Great blur free pictures and complete manual control. $50 rebate through February 06. Cons: No memory card included.
I have used the Konica-Minolta 5D for about a week. I have shot photos indoors and out with great results. The anti-shake works well and is built into the body so most older Minolta AF lenses will work and can take advantage of this feature. I have used two older Minolta (35mm film) lenses with this camera 50mm f1.7 and 35-70mm f4.0 zoom and they both work well if somewhat over exposed when used with the flash. In addition, you must multiply by 1.5 to determine the correct focal-length conversion from film to digital. The lens thing was a bonus for me but I also have the new Maxxum AF DT zoom lens (18-70 f/3.5-5.6) available for the 5D and it takes great pictures in almost any situation.
Pros: sturdy body, nice big 2.5" screen, easy to use Cons: wish it had more megapixels, and the shutter sound is kind of disappointing
i absolutely adore this camera. the 7D was way too heavy, and i didn't like how every single function had a knob or button- this has a nice ratio of buttons and access menus. the antishake is great, lots of nice white balance settings
Pros: Photo quality. Cool...the screen automatically goes off and on when you look in viewfinder! Cons: Haven't run across any yet!
This is one solid, super ergonomic and excellent intuitive designs I've handled. Tried the top five and chose the KM for its ease of use and quick control access to most creative settings. The rubber body insert grips really make a difference while shooting, especially for long periods. A very nice looking pro design, I'm guessing designers were photographers as opposed to design engineers. Top notch build quality....you can really feel what sets this camera apart from the others in this price range. I could list way more in the Pro's but only get 15 words....
Pros: Solid construction, rich feature set, better "kit" lens than competitors. Cons: Handgrip shows marks easily. No automatic pop up on the flash.
The KM Maxxum 5D has richer features than Rebel XT -- the 5D has antishake, spot meter, larger LCD panel, longer lens (18-70 vs. 18-55 on Rebel), and more.
Side by side images shot on both look better 4 out of 5 times on the 5D.
If you are not tied to Canon or Nikon, this camera is highly recommended. Great bang for the buck.
Pros: Good hand fit, color, anti-shake, detail Cons: None
This camera is spectacular. Works almost as well as my Minolta SRT101. I thought I would never give up the 101 for a digital, but the 5D proved me wrong. Colors are excellent, I can actually catch moving objects (unlike my Diimage 7i) and it has great detail. The battery life is also good, so much better than standard digital.
This is my first DSLR and I was using a Nikon 4200.
My first impression of 5D was that it is well constructed and has a professional look. I like the weight and the size, it's just perfect.
I made some trial shoot. The auto-focus is pretty fast and the AS system works amazingly well. The 2.5" LCD is bright and sharp if not as good as the one on 7D. The color of pics is natural and vivid.
The lens are plastic but works just as what I had expected.
I am very happy with my new KM 5D and can see how a DSLR can excel over a simple point and shoot.
I got mine online at Berger-Bros.com - I had some questions before purchasing it so I decided to call the mail-order department and actually got the opportunity to speak to the very knowledgable owner Brad.
