You'll like these. Trust me.

by sjmanikt , Sep 24 '02
Pros: They sound AMAZING. They collapse (kinda). Did I mention they sound AMAZING?
Cons: They're kinda ugly. They collapse (kinda).
I have an Audiovox Maestro and an Archos Jukebox that I use as portable MP3 players. I was seriously considering returning the Archos Jukebox until I bought these headphones. Why? I thought the thing sounded abyssmal. Then I plugged these headphones into...

KTX/PRO-Great Sound; Greater Price

by mcash257 , Dec 09 '00
Pros: Price, durability
Cons: not as good sounding as more expensive 'phones
Koss’ KTX/PRO headphones (uses same drivers as Sporta Pro) are a well rounded headphone suitable for replacing the really, really bad ‘phones that come with portable players. I have never seen a portable CD player, tape player MiniDisc player or Mp3...

Blown Away By The Sound!

by badaboom1956 , Jan 12 '03
Pros: Excellent sound reproduction
Cons: Short cord, no volume control
I read everything I could find about these headphones before I made the decision to purchase. My most important consideration was faithful reproduction of sound. Additionally, I wanted a headphone that was comfortable to wear.
When I first put...

Great sound

by russlndr , Aug 22 '02
Pros: great sound and foldable
Cons: Looks cheap
A friend recommended me these headphones back in 1996. Now I own two pairs. I have got one set at work and one set at home. The sound in these head phones is great!

For about two years ago I decided to buy even greater headphones than Koss. My...

$39 For Garbage???

by kd25 , Aug 05 '02
Pros: They're really good for the first few weeks.
Cons: They suck after the first few weeks.
My past experience with the Koss brand electronics has not been a pleasant one. I have owned several pairs of headphones and a few personal/portable cassette and CD players. Trying to save money by buying the Koss headphones is an oxymoron. You end up...

No need to look good with good sound

by mcwalt , Jul 18 '02
Pros: Excellent Sound, fold up to fit in pockets
Cons: not very stylish, not in the new 'trend'
I purchased these headphones because I trusted the Koss brand name, and needless to say, they didn't disappoint. These headphones serve me very well while walking, running, rollerblading, or lifting weights. The adjustable ear pad tightness is a great...

Big sound for the gym

by twilling , Sep 24 '02
Pros: Big bass sound, sounds great, folding design and storage case
Cons: Uncomfortable metal band and ear speakers, short cord, mids and highs distorted and low
I was surprised to hear these headphones when I first tried them out. They are advertised as fitness headphones with a big bass sound. The latter part is more evident than the fitness part. You get a big sound, a quality sound that was impressive to me....

Pros: Excellent sound
Cons: Ugly, need a facelift
I bought these for my panasonic cd player and all I can say is....wow! These phones provide excellent sound quality on a fixed budget. I have listened to sony, panasonic, and many others. These were by far the best sounding for the price. I own a pair...

One word - AWESOME!
by manboobs ,Apr 02 '07
Pros: Excellent sound. Great Portability. Well fitting. Outside-the-box design.
Cons: Retract quite tightly. Mind your fingers.
I've been a music aficionado (and casual musician) most of my life. Believe me, I'm anal retentive about my sound quality. These cans are a freak of science. I've listened to headphones 3 times the price, and still go back to the mighty Porta Pros.

They have a full, sweet sound that belies there size and price point. Seriously, the more you listen to these babies the more you will appreciate them. I've had mine for about 3 years and they haven't missed a beat. Still in excellent condition, and to think they have a lifetime warranty. A true testament of their quality IMO.

And the looks. Hey, who wants to look like everybody else. They are snug, quite comfortable, and quite retro-funky. So you might loose a strand of hair occasionally, but it's well worth it. You must own a pair of these amazing little headphones to really understand how lovable they are. Simply AWESOME.

Great for the price!
by excaliburn ,Feb 22 '07
Pros: Very good sound, very comfortable, require little power, good bass.
Cons: The band keeps wanting to slide closed unless held open.
These extremely comfortable headphones really do a nice job with portable players, though they do have their limitations. Fortunately, most of the headphones that sound substantially better also cost substantially more.

The only thing about these that really irritates me is that the headband slides closed (smaller) under any sort of movement. I guess that's better than sliding open, but it's aggravating to slide them to a position, take a moment to disentangle the cord, and then find that the band has closed back to its smallest size. You need to get everything exactly right with your cords, amp, player, and so forth and THEN open them up and put them on your head.

I'm not generally a big fan of open-air headphones, since I usually use headphones when I'm mowing the lawn, traveling on a plane, or in other situations where I want to seal out ambient noise. And, since I own a couple pair of Grados, I don't use these in the house much, but where I can use them (on the beach, walking, kayaking) they do a great job and are by far my favorite headphones for the application.

Great sound
by merivale ,Nov 13 '06
Pros: Great sound, good KOSS customer service
Cons: Headband breaks very easy, short cord
I love the sound of the headphones - top quality no question about it. I have the set now for 2 years.

The few things I did not like about them is that the headband broke very fast and it is not as comfortable as I hoped they would be, the cord is very short as well

However my friend just told me that he has some problems with his set and after calling Koss they replaced the set -no questions asked. He only had to pay for shipping. That is what I will do as the sound of these things is unbeatable!

Shocked by the sound of 35$ headphones
by erniejade ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: Great bass, clean highs, light weight and stores nicely in my coat pocket.
Cons: If I had hair, I am balding on top, the band would catch hair.
I went looking for a small headphone for my MP3 player. I tried on darn near everything from the earbuds Sennheiser
on down. I guess my ears are small because all of the earbud type hurt my ears! ( not playing just sitting in there or trying to get them in my ear). I have to say the Koss Portapro's are some of the best sounding under 100$ headphones I have heard. They look cheep but, trust me, they are not cheep sounding! 101 DB sensitivity is not too bad and higher then my AKG's i was using. lots of bass, clean highs. Perfect for MP3's.

You gotta hear these cans.
by rhema7 ,Jun 26 '05
Pros: Great Sound, Comfortable, lightweight
Cons: sometimes catches hair (single strand), At high volumes may disturb fellow cube dwellers.
I have have mine for 5mos now and I love them more each day.
Short of the Grado SR60 you cannot beat the for shear listening pleasure. I side by side tested them against it's nearest competition (Sennhieser PX100) and the only advantage was the Senn's fold more compact. 6 people in My Office have expressed a desire to get a pair. (a few have) My wife who normally scoffs a "boy toys" and saying headphones are headphone broke down a few weeks ago and order her own pair (good thing too I was having to hide mine).

The Most Awesome Headphones
by daved1999 ,Jan 17 '07
Pros: Great sound and low price. Fold to a managable size.
Cons: Foam pads wear out but replacable
I have the same Portapro Headphones that I was given with the purchase of a new stereo back in 1984 when the Portapro first came out. I love these things. They are 22+ years old and still kicking butt! They make every player sound better. They even make my Laptop sound great while watching DVDs or listening to Cd's. I would recommend these to anyone. I am an extremely satisfied customer/user of the Koss Portapro. Just think, I've not had to purchase headphones in over 22 years! How many people can say that? Try them for yourself and you will see what I'm talking about. You'll be surprised!

Decent Offering From Koss
by audio-freak ,Feb 23 '07
Pros: Very Well-Round, Comfortable, Inexpensive, Good And Loud Sound
Cons: Sound Is Slightly Warm And Lacks Frequency Extremes
Koss is a very well-known company in inexpensive headphones. Every once in awhile they'll dish out something bad like the awful UR29, but most of their headphones are good value, like the Sporta Pro. The sound quality isn't the best you'll find for this price, but it is very decent, especially the mids are audiophile quality. The bass is good, but a bit overwhelming at higher volumes, making them sound slightly warm. They also have a clear sound, although they don't bring out a lot of detail some pricer sets can. They can also bring out the volume, making them good for portable players. Seemed comfortable to me, and also have a neat design. I'd spend the extra $20 to get the "great" Porta Pros, the Sporta Pros are a "good" offering at only $30.
