Earbuds do not work for me, they hurt my ears and easily fall out. Quite by accident did I find "The Plug" by Koss. Wow, what a difference. They fit nicely and comfortably in the ear. I have worn them for many hours at a time without problems. The package comes with several foam inserts, so you can change them out when they get dirty, or find a different size and shape to fit your own unique ears.

Even at loud levels, I have been happy with the sound of these little guys.

The only problem I have had was that twice the two plastic sections came apart. The first time I was able to snap them back together, the second I wasn't able to save them. But this was after using them for 16 months, so no real loss. It was time for a new pair anyway.

Pros: great sound, clear, good bass, great mid/upper
Cons: foam pads are only good for about 2 years' wear

I was trying nearly every headphones I could find, to replace the wretchedly painful earbuds that came with my iPod. I finally tried these, despite being *sure* that they couldn't be any good. Not at under $20.

Hey, turns out my cynical attitude was misplaced. The sound on this is great. It's not like using my closed-ear Sony studio cans, but then again, they're about 1/100th the size and weight.

The one caveat I have is that (at least for me) if you don't wet the plugs, they won't stay in.

Pros: Great value for money, with a tweek here and there they are great
Cons: Not good for me straight out of the box and very bass heavy

they do not squish enough and expand to quickly

These headphones are VERY bass heavy and a little Treble light so if you are not able to change eq on your player be prepared. I guess the foam padding kills the top end

The sound is incredible for the money and all other sounds
are virtually eliminated.(beware it is dangerously good)

Now I have changed the earplug bits and adjusted eq these headphones are amazing enough said

These are excellent. I got them by accident from a brickAndMortar store, not online which wouldve been cheaper and now I im a happier commuter. The foam actually works as a firearm range plug. If you get the hang of it and screw it in your ear correctly you will get the BEST sound quality and BASS right in your ear. Needless to say it will be putting less harmful noise pressure on the eardrum.

Cons: Extremely uneven frequency response. Sounds bad in almost all situations.

A couple of years ago there were not all that many in-ear headphones to chose from and Koss Plugs were the only cheap ones. At that point there might have been some kind of justification in buying them. Things have change and now there are numerous in-ear headphones of varying quality available. Sadly the Koss Plugs are among the worst of the lot. These are the reasons to avoid them:

The bass response is massively over-exaggerated. This is worsened by the fact that the bass is also very inexact, i.e. everything in the low frequency span sounds pretty much the same. A drum is a drum, is a drum. The treble is OK while the mid range is very muffled.

The total effect of the uneven response over the frequency range is that music sounds "strange" no matter how much you tweak your player. Vocals sound especially bad. Bass heavy music is completely destroyed.

Although these headphones cost very little I can not say that they are good value for money.

Pros: The best headphones I have ever used.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing bad to write about these wonderful earbuds.

I use this both for my IPOD nano (when it decides to work that is, but that's another story).

The earbuds (the spark plug type), arrived today. Got them on ebay for $7.95. The best deal I ever got.

I just plugged them into my ipod nano and took off for a power walk. How comfortable!!!!!

And when I watch tv, I always use headphones because I don't want to disturb anyone else in my house or nearby and believe me when I say I've gone through headphones.
I have used the big bulky ones, the lighter in the ear ones. But they hurt.

Now these, with the foam pillow things that just plump inside my ears. Well, I was in heaven.

Pros: Tremendous frequency response, ncredibly comfortable, excellent noise-cancelling properties.
Cons: Weak wire connection to the body. Easily solved with a little epoxy.

As a professional recording engineer, portable music is a big part of my life. Koss was the first (that I was aware of) company to "get it." Every predecessor to the Plug was a pathetic design (not too dissimilar from the style that comes with the iPod) where the ear bud sits outside the canal and relies on luck to keep them in position. Even with all the so-called "solutions' (foam, rubber, etc.) the damn things never stayed in place. Five years I used these ridiculous ear buds. Enter the Plug and suddenly, miracle of miracles, the ear buds stay in place with no effort - and they're incredibly comfortable. I'm not sure why all the complaints that they're uncomfortable. A soft, spongy latex pad compresses down so you can insert the Plug into your ear. The pad expands and voila!, a perfect fit and perfect sound. I've tried the ER-6 from Etymotic and Shure EC-5. Amazingly, these are better.

Pros: good isolation, plenty of bass, CHEAP
Cons: treble could be better, isolation annoys people who try to talk to you

These little phones partially because of the seal they make with your ear canal (and also because they are made by koss) have alot of bass

overall sound quality is good considering they are practically the only thing in this price range that can be classified as a canalphone... nothing that would make someone who wants to buy some more expensive canalphones change their mind but worthy of a purchase to hold you over until you can get some (if you are broke like me)

the treble does seem a little rolled off and maybe a little "tunnelly" but there are some cheap and easy mods that can be done to help with the "tunnelly" part and a little treble boost helps as well

overall for $15 you can't really go wrong if you need something to block out alot of noise (great for yard work)

Cons: Poor quality construction and EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I purchased these headphones and wore them to the gym one time. After 15 minutes one of the earbuds fell apart and I found myself going to the Dr. to have the sound tube removed from my ear canal. Contacted the manufacturer and was told that it was impossible for the product to do that and called indicated that I was lying.

I would definitely recommend NOT PURCHASING any products from KOSS as their customer service is horrific. Spend a couple dollars more and buy a product from a real name brand that backs up their products.

I have been searching for a better set of earbuds for my Ipod and after reading many of the reviews for the plug, I thought I might have found an inexpensive upgrade. But after plugging the Koss Plug into my Ipod and inserting them into my ears, I could immediately tell they weren't up to par. The "improved" bass was not there, the buds that came with my Ipod were much better. Back into the store for a refund. The earbuds that come with the Ipod are not bad, but if you have a pair, while playing music with your Ipod, press the buds against your ear canal, and you will hear better bass response and clearer, fuller sound. That tells me earphones inserted into the ear must do a better job. The question is which earbuds are the best? The Koss Plug is not the one. Next stop, Shure.com for the Ec2.

Cons: they won't stay on so I have to re-insert them about every two minutes.

I got these for two purposes: airplanes and exercise. They are a problem for both. Yes, the plug does block some outside noise and the sound is good. But trying to keep them in my ears is SO frustrating. They fall out constantly. I can't jog with them. Plus the squishy plug part isn't attached to the rest of the headphone so that falls off very easily. When I look in my carry-on luggage to get them, the foam plugs are missing. Bottom line: get something else. The only way these would please me is if I'm sitting still, at home.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: People don't like to share ear buds.

great sound comes from a tube that is inserted into the ear (as opposed to the usual ear bud that is a small speaker inserted in your ear causing discomfort).
