Pros: Solid build - looks good - makes great espresso & coffee Cons: Coffee carafe is poorly designed. Slow Coffee section.
After my last coffee machine I spent a lot of time checking out coffee makers. I had it narrowed it down to two systems and this Krups was one of the two. My wife, tired of my procrastination & indecision bought the Krups for me for Christmas. ...

Pros: Decent combo machine, relatively decent price. Brews in acceptable time & Easy to use. Cons: Glass carafe is extremely fragile & difficult to locate replacements. No timer/brew-set function for coffee.
I received this machine as a gift to replace a small, low-cost 10-bar pump espresso machine. Although I would not consider the XP2010 to be "top of the line" espresso machine, it does brew coffee & make a decent espresso. As far as coffee pot/carafe - - ...

Quick espresso / S-L-O-W Coffee!
by auggie34 ,Oct 15 '06
Pros: Quick espresso Cons: Extremely slow coffee maker!!!
I bought this machine thinking that for this amount of money it would be a much higher quality machine. WRONG! It doesn't even come with an espresso carafe! On our former DeLonghi machine, you could make 8 ozs. (2 "espresso" cups) at one time. On the Krups, you can only make max. 4 ozs. (1 espresso cup) at a time before you must empty the grounds for next cup. It is a bit of work for several cups. The REAL annoyance for the Krups is that it takes a full 30 MINUTES (I timed it!) to make a full 10 cup pot of coffee. In that amount of time, I could have driven to a coffee shop! This is totally unacceptable. Though this machine looks nice, it isn't worth the price they charge.

DeLonghi Heater

Pros: Cheap when buying at Costco Cons: Stopped working after 8 weeks
We thought that we were getting a great deal....bought this at Costco for $39.00. Problem was the unit only worked for 8 weeks before blowing up! Now I can't find a way to get my money back. Not sure if Costco will take it back at this point.

Insufficient Replacement Parts
by dlaepinons ,Jul 28 '08
Pros: Great espresso while it lasted. Cons: It didn't last long before needing parts that aren't available.
The plastic parts break...that's a reality. Unfortunately, Krups and the vendors it refers you to don't carry a sufficient range of repair parts...so, very quickly it becomes an irreparable piece of junk. This is not a responsive company, they refer you to vendors that simply don't have the parts, as nice as the initial product might seem.

Like it so far
by goat4hooves ,Apr 14 '07
Pros: Looks good in my kitchen
saves space
feels solid
works great; reliable so far Cons: No reliability history yet.
Doesn't come with espresso/frother carafe
Considerable moisture from thermoblock flush
I almost didn't buy this maker because I so many poor reviews, until I realized they were all by the same person. So far, I LOVE THIS MACHINE!
I don't know what the other guys problem was, but my machine brews 10 cups of coffee in under 10 minutes. The espressos are great with a good head of crema. The frother works great; it seems to peter out of steam maybe a little sooner than I would like, but I am generally trying to froth for multiple cups.
Overall, it seems to be working great, although I have only had it for a week. I will definately repost if I have any reliability issues. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of reliability information on this model since it is so new, but I at least wanted to counter some of the more negative reports, since the machine seems to be getting a bad rap coming out the door. Overall, I am very pleased with this machine.
