Pros: Reasonably priced, yet very secure, good accessories Cons: A little heavy and bulky
Okay so you've bought a reasonable bike, it might not be right at the top of the range but it cost you a few weeks savings. What next? Well what some people do is having bought a £300 bike, put a £5 lock on it and wonder why their bike goes missing...
Pros: Easy to use and very secure. Cons: On the heavy side.
I have handled many types of bike locks but the Kryptonite Kryptolock tops them all. The Kryptolock is in the right price range for me, a college student commuting in a city with a somewhat high crime rate. The hardened carbon alloy feels...
Pros: Great theft protection for the money. Cons: Not as good as the more expensive Kryptonite locks.
As a long time college student and an avid cyclist, I have used many different types of bicycle locks. The lock I've been happiest with so far has been my Kryptonite Kryptolock. It is a little more expensive than some of the other brands, but...
Pros: Great Lock for the money Cons: If you have an XTR bike with Mavic rimes, park inside.
I suppose I am infamous on Epinions for my recommends against certain locks. Since I got tired of getting "Not Helpful" remarks because of my negative comments on certain bike locks, I have refrained from writing on them for at least a year (maybe 2)....
Pros: This lock is strong, durable, and won't scratch anything. Cons: It is heavy and slightly big.
This lock is excellent for all uses. It can lock to almost anything and has a rubber coating on the ouside so that it won't scratch the item that you are locking. However it is heavy and big. So, if you are looking to lock a bike, I would reccomend this...
Pros: Good Solid, East to unlock Cons: Cheap bracket
This lock fits to to bracket in a manner that puts a lot of stress onto the plastic bracket that goes around your frame, this resulted in mine snapping off after 3 weeks and now I have to carry it in a rucksack.
The lock itself is rather good and the key unlocks it a lot smother that other "U" locks I have owned.
For the price I would buy something else because of the bracket
Pros: Solid construction, long shackle Cons: Clip doesn't fit all bikes
The lock seems to be very sturdy, and is probably fine for short stops where the bike is within your line of sight. However, the clip that comes with the lock does not fit around the tube of my road bike (Giant OCR1), which made me return the lock. It is no good if I can't carry it around easily!
I'd suggest putting your money toward the Bulldog OnGuard series instead of this one... it's a much better lock for the same amount of money (though it is a few ounces heavier).
