A lasting gift -- Kushies Cloth Diapers

by kimberlyrose , Jul 22 '06
Pros: Earth friendly, adorable, easy to use and easy to clean. Prevents diaper rash.
Cons: Not a good night time diaper and not breathable.
Before my second child was born we choose to cloth diaper him. We knew in the end it would save us money, be best for him, and be light on our over used world. 1 baby in disposables can make over a ton on diapers I had read. This baby would not. But ...

Pros: Cute prints
Cons: They are Bulky and Stiff.
I decided to cloth diaper after being thoroughly irritated with the whole disposable diapering system,  And after researching a great deal I decided I would try the All-In-Ones.   I bought the Kushies all in one diapers in whites, yellow ...

Not the best

Pros: You can find them on kijiji in any city from someone waiting to dump them.
Cons: Cost Savings? none

Absobancy? low

We LOVE our Cloth Diapers!!
by shydee ,Sep 23 '04
Pros: Savings and easy to clean.
Cons: I have not found any.
When I was expecting my first baby, I knew one girlfriend of mine used cloth diapers and everyone else did not. So I started to research the pros and cons of both. I discovered that it would cost me about $500.00 to buy cloth diapers as a one time price and that is from birth to 21/2years. I sat down and figured it would save me about $5500.00 on my first child and $6000.00 on everyone after him. My son is now nine months and has been in cloth diapers since 2weeks old. He has never had a rash or even a mark on is bottom, and the doctor feels that it is because I use cloth diapers.

I borrowed Kooshies diapers from my girlfriend to try and was given another brand that somebody had picked up for me at a yard sale, and found that the Kushies absorbed better then the other. So I bought Kushies.

On top of the great savings they are very easy to clean, washer and into the dryer they go.

I have not found anything that I do not like about this product.

Good value, but I recommend trying a few kinds before choosing this one.
by jaimeenfants ,Jul 04 '06
Pros: Good value, well-built, good absorbancy, a plastic cover is not always necessary.
Cons: Bulky, velcros attract lint, smelly
I started cloth diapering with my first child 4 years ago. I did not have a lot of money to invest upfront and did not know much about buying on-line. So, when I saw the Kushies diapers in a major Department Store, it seemed to me that those were exactly what I was looking for.
They are well-built, good quality and easy to use.
But with time, a few things started bothering me about them, and now, expecting my third child, I am looking to find an other brand of diapers that would better suit my needs. First, I didn't like the fact that the velcros gather lint even if you fold them during laundry (which, obviously, is only a minor drawback). Second, they are quite bulky compare to disposable diapers (and, from what I understand, other brands of cloth diapers). Lastly, I find it is hard to get rid of the bad smell. Even after a wash and two rinse cycles, they still smell. I had to try different tricks and found that soaking them overnight in Borax was the most effective. I read that diapers with a layer of Poly inside often come with this problem.
