Pros: Saves a drive bay, Speed of CD-burner, DVD Playback and more. Cons: Can¡¦t make instant CD copies.
Since the inception of the DVD/CD-RW combo drives, not to be confused with DVD-RW/CD-RW drives; it has been a miracle for many computer users, since some computers only have one 5.25-inch drive bay or that they only have one 5.25-inch bay left over....

A drive that does it all
by swalton386 ,Dec 21 '03
Pros: All-In-One, Saves Drive Bay, XP Compatible Cons: None
Today CD Burners write at 52x and DVD readers read top out at 16x. Although my LG CD-RW is a few years old it does the job. It writes at 12x and reads DVD's at 8x. I'm currently using it with WinXP and it works great with XP's built-in software as well as with Nero. It also plays DVD's perfectly without any skipping or freezing. If your able to pick this up used cheap- I recommend it. It also saves you a drive bay if your building a compact PC.
