Excellent Burner at a Reasonable Price (and non-techie friendly)

by tkerodd Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 15 '05
Pros: inexpensive, easy to use, good software included, nice profile

A Good External DVD CD Drive
by jtalens ,Feb 02 '06
Pros: Easy to use, very capable DVD-CD R/W drive.
Cons: None.
I admit up front that I am not an expert on this technology. However, I was forced to learn a bit when my HP Pavilion 350n's DVD writer/reader died the very first time I tried to use it. Of course, the HP PC was out of warranty and the Indian geek on the telephone confirmed that the problem was not, as I had hoped, a driver problem. So I learned that there about a hundred possible choices for an external DVD drive and on some websites you can compare the technical features of a number of models side by side. I prefer an external DVD drive because I can transport it, and if I get another PC I know I have a spare DVD unit! This particular model reads one particular configuration of DVD that most others do not, though from what I have heard that is not a particularly important issue. The drive will do virtually anything I can imagine, and it has already read DVDs, copied CDs and always with unusually explicit and easy to use procedures. Heck, for $90 including shipping it does what a DVD-CD R/W drive should do. I recommend it.
