Pros: Cools a 15'x17' bedroom with ease. Relatively quiet operation. Overall quality and reliability very good. Cons: Side curtains of poor thin quality.
Filter difficult to access for routine cleaning.
Purchased this unit in summer 2004 because of it's compact design and good Consumer Reports review. It was pricey but worth it.I have been very satisfied with it's overall performance. I have a 15'x17' bedroom which it cools with ease and the compressor ...

Pros: Very Quiet for bedroom operation and blows air upward not across the room Cons: Very poor cardboard container construction, Retail price 25% higher than other brands
Purchased from Lowes 9/04 their regular price was $189 but it was discounted at clearance for $144.. This air conditioner is great in the bedroom for a comfortable quiet sleep. The unit was not very heavy to carry for installation which was a plus. ...

Pros: Vents on top of unit. Good Energy Star rating. Nice looking, but who cares? Cons: Expensive.
Doesn't get cold enough.
Remote doesn't work.
I bought the 7K BTU version of this air conditioner about 2 summers ago. So far, it has held up the same for the past couple years. The problem with that, though, is that since day 1 this unit has really not done the job. I like it cold, so perhaps I ...

LOUD AS AN AIRPLANE!
by queritas ,Jun 21 '07
Pros: cools OK, low level design Cons: Compressor sounds like a subwoofer
I bought this thing to cool a small bedroom. I picked it because Consumer Reports said it was quiet (so much for them!). The fan alone is indeed quiet. Then BOOM here comes the vibrating low pulsing grind of the compressor. Try sleeping in a room with that going on and off all night. Torture. This air conditioner is a gyp and a rip.

Style, size, weight are advantages for single room AC
by gemeehan ,Feb 11 '07
Pros: Style, size, weight, cools according to specifications Cons: Noise, durability in question, fit to window
I bought this AC for a master bedroom so I did not have to cool the entire house at night. I am the type of person who can read a manual and run with it. I have found this AC does not respond according to the manufacturers instructions. It runs and it cools. I find it to be very noisy when it changes modes or starts up during any of the cycles. I got used to the normal operation noises and then, after a few months, the unit started making unusual noises once in awhile. I am not sorry that I bought it primarily because I can handle the size of it and it does cool. However, I feel the durability of this unit is poor. After reading the other reviews, maybe I have a lemon?? Installation was easy enough. It was placed in a small window but the the flexible sides did not completely seal the unit. I still had to use tape around the edges to keep out the insects. I would definitely think twice before buying another LG product.

My wife likes it
by artm72 ,Jul 01 '07
Pros: Compact, good looking, efficient Cons: The price is among the highest for 6000 BTU units
but then the LP6000ER was the only window AC I could find that I could get into a 12.5" height opening. It is good looking with soft corners unlikely to cut you when installing. Noise level is not objectionable. Since I use it in a large space, more for home dehumidification than cooling, it has more controls than I need.

Compact, efficient, contemporary window A/C
by dpvwia ,May 19 '04
Pros: Efficiency, design, features. Cons: Can be hard to locate a dealer.
An excellent product! Detailed installation instructions and a heavy-duty mounting bracket on this small unit means you won't have to use any addition support mechanisms, although you may have to attach a small strip of wood to you sill to make it fit perfect. Compact design fits in windows with openings as small as about 21-inches wide (or 26-inches measured in the channel where the window slides). The side louvers can be removed to fit smaller windows. The whole unit only sits about 8-9 inches high, which looks great from the inside and outside.
The modern design is super-high efficiency, rating over 10EER - with auto temp control, an economy mode (turns recirculating fan off between compressor cycles), 3-speed fan, and a drying mode to dehumidify. Plus it has a sleep timer, so you can have the whole unit turn off after a few hours (great for sleeping - you don't wake up in an ice box). Comes with a nice, small remote control. Best Buy carries the 6000BTU model; there is also a 7000BTU model.

Perfect air conditioner for any room
by anandshah ,Jun 23 '06
Pros: Low profile, electronic controls, auto temp control, quiet, timer and sleep mode Cons: Installation curtains that fan out could be better quality and more insulated.
This 6,000 BTU low profile a/c unit is great. It's easy enough to install (and uninstall during the winter). Low profile helps in the overall view and light coming in to a room - especially if there's only one window. Unit has an automatic temp control, remote and fan only option. It's also Energy Star rated. I've used it in 120-220 sq ft rooms with excellent results. A tip on where to buy - the online prices are ridiculously high ($300+). I got mine from PC Richard (www.pcrichard.com) for $200 and the state of NJ offers a $20 rebate for Energy Star rated a/c's.

Sleek & quiet AC for a small room
by rayst00 ,Jun 26 '04
Pros: Good looking, quiet, great remote Cons: Solid installation in metal window frame may be tricky, pricey
After a year of frustration with a Frigidaire product, I sprang for this Korean model and am so far very happy with it.
Installation was a snap for me, as the device is firmly held by my double-hung metal window (and no one is walking below on the street); however the supplied external bracket would involve screwing into your windowsill, so your mileage may vary.
This unit is pricier than "compareable" models, but you do get a few extras. For example, it's a bit better looking than most ACs out there, the air can actually be directed upwards (good if you sleep in front of it), it's relatively quiet (according to consumer reports anyway), and it comes with a very nice remote with an LCD that displays temp, fan speed, mode, and hours to go until the timer kicks in!
Highly recommended, unless you're looking for the cheapest value. I only wish there'd be a similar 10000 btu model.

Love this Air conditioner
by spiltmilk ,Apr 26 '09
Pros: low profile nice looking quiet and easy to use Remote control Cons: They are a bit pricier than other standard units. but well worth the extra cost.
I have a fairly large house that needed cooling desperately. Since I am renting, installing central air wasn't an option. I did some research and bought 8 of these units. I love them. They cool each room quickly, and quietly. The low profile allows a lot of light through the windows. I am very happy with my purchase. I read the other reviews below. Anyone can buy one item of anything that doesn't work well. If it doesn't work exchange it for one that does.

Sane unit, with Kenmore name
by dadoof12 ,Jun 12 '07
Pros: small size, easy to use, durable housing, easy to install Cons: much to noisy, fan speed is fine, but when compressor goes on, it is annoying
We wanted a small unit for bedroom, that would be quiet, and efficient. The size of unit was attractive, but we could get no info from salesperson on hoe loud it was.

Great AC for the money!!
by jdp777 ,Jun 14 '05
Pros: Quiet, light and energy efficient. Cons: Does not fit my new windows the way they should, but still seals good.
After trying a Frigidaire 12000btu unit, which by the way was horrible( took it back). I decided to buy two LG6000 units to use on my first floor instead. It was a great decision. They run better, quieter, and more efficient. There very low profile and very light. No breaking back anymore. This is by far the best AC I ever owned. Best price I found was at Best Buy($145).

Just Purchased
by magicjack ,Jul 23 '05
Pros: low frontal height-low clearance windows
window/wall
lightweight
remote control
timer Cons: no cons
I just purchased an LG today. I have a window with minimal height, I have been to over a dozen stores and searched online. I have talked to many people, several of them said they had the same dilemna. This was the ONLY A/C out there with a lowest frontal height. Thank you LG ;) Initially, I had seen this unit in an appliance store, but had intended on doing some shopping around. I ended up back at that store and purchase one today. It fit perfectly in my window, and it is lightweight. I fit it in from the outside in, a tip the appliance salesman shared with me. I have 5 rooms and with the help of my de-humidifier, it has managed to cool things down sufficiently. Anyway, thought Id share.
