Pros: Knowledgeable waitstaff, ice tea included in the meal at no charge, chocolate fondue!!! Cons: Dimly lit interior, long long waits, pricey menu
Things to know:
• This place is very trendy and exclusive, expect to make reservations way in advance unless you want to eat at 5:45pm on a Monday (which is what we did).
• The food is expensive and mediocre.
• The...
Pros: extreme amounts of food and booze Cons: dimly lit rooms
Saratoga, CA is one of those places that a leisurely stroll is always fun to do. Mostly filled with small boutiques and expensive restaurants, Saratoga has a small town feel in the middle of the bustling Bay Area. La Fondue is extremely popular place...
Pros: Lots of food, fun atmosphere, in picturesque downtown Saratoga Cons: pricey, reservations strongly recommended, large groups may have difficulty
La Fondue is not a diner. Don't expect to walk in, have a quick bite, and then head to the movies. However, if you're looking for a place that includes an intimate atmosphere and good food at a leisurely pace, La Fondue may be right for you.
...
Pros: okay service, fresh food, large portions Cons: limited menu (Fondue only), too pricey, unattentive management
I had heard good things from a few friends about La Fondue, so I went ahead and booked it for my groups' Christmas dinner. I specifically asked for enough space for six to seven people when I made the reservation. When I got there, they seemed to have no...
Pros: Great atmosphere, experience, meals, and chocolate(!) Cons: 2-4 week reservation notice needed
La Fondue is the sort of restaurant everyone should experience at least once, if only because of the stupid-grin-inducing novelty of it all. The restaurant is laid out in a medievil design with bright colors hidden under dim lighting. However, whereas...
The décor of this place is…well; it’s a bit on the yuppie, new-age side of the world. It’s fun, just be prepared for something a bit unusual.
Reservations are a good idea if you're planning on weekend dining.
Pros: unique interactive experience, cheese and dessert fondues Cons: staff can be quite smug, wait can be long, even with reservations (there is no bar to wait at)
La Fondue is a yuppie favorite, with its denim-clad servers, posh and romantic decor, and its interactive fondue focus. It was one of my favorite dining experiences and my husband, friends and I have travelled a great distance from Berkeley to Saratoga...
Pros: Unique experience, great place to talk with friends or your lover. Cons: expensive
Things to know:
Expect to make reservations in advance (but I have made several walk-ins Mon-Thur).
Expect to pay $45 per person (sans drinks).
Expect a long diner (enjoy the experience).
Expect to...
Pros: good service, nice atmosphere, lots of choices Cons: Charging for extra dipped items, fruit
When Tuesday night date night rolled around this past week, my boyfriend and I decided to take a more romantic approach to our weekly outing instead or our traditional dinner-and-a-movie date. We read about La Fondue online, and decided to give it a try. ...
Pros: A unique dining experience Cons: Must plan ahead; can't go there on an impulse.
La Fondue is a one-of-a-kind restaurant. From their exclusive fondue menu featuring many different kinds of cheeses, broths and oils for meats and chocolate for dessert to its cherub and star laden ceiling in one dining room to its high backed jester...
Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Food Cons: Make Reservations early
From the second you step in the door. To the first dip of bread into the warm cheese. To the last dip of fruit on the chocolate. This Restaurant is a 10. The atmosphere and the service say it all. La Fondue is one of those places that you better...
Pros: Were else can you get bison and elk? Cons: expensive, crowded, snobby, trendy
I've always thought one of the great differences between northern and southern California was a certain dislike in the north for the trendy. This place flies in the face of that. Very popular right now with a long reservation list to get in ("We can...
Pros: Tasty food, decor, different, romantic, great atmosphere Cons: Can be hot inside!!, price is hefty
The location of this restaurant is great in itself, the setup inside and decor are great too. Yes, it is kind of yuppy but so what? The food is fantastic and every time we go our waiter/waitress is very friendly and accommadating. Great for a romantic...
Pros: Outstanding experience & quality food Cons: Expensive, but worth every penny
I am not going to write a detailed review, I am mainly writing to talk about kids. I agree with everyone elses accolades for La Fondue, it is a fantastic place for an extended meal. It is a place for fine dining and enjoying the atmosphere and the people joining you there.
When it comes to kids I am totally astounded that other reviewers rate this not a kid-friendly place. My kids are now 8 & 10 and it is their absolute favorite restaurant. We have been going there since they were 4 (my wife and I have been going there since it opened). I can only assume that the people reviewing La Fondue as non-kid friendly have never brought their kids their. The entire interactive nature of the cooking method and the variety of food are a huge attraction for kids.
