The Labtec AXIS-712 is good, but not great.

My use of this device are limited to IP telephony, with a Thinkpad laptop.

Pros: easy set up. good quality microphone. earphones fold flat for storage or travelling
Cons: earpiece may become disloged or broken. labtec, not sony style

I got my labtec 712 from ebay. The cables are very long, which for me is handy. The unit works as advertised, windows finds it and configures it without needing an external driver. The sound through the headphones ranges from pretty darn good to really great, depending on the volume and type of music you listen to. I use the microphone extensively for voice recognition. It works much better than my andrea headset and my standalone microphone is a joke compared to this. Depending on the computer is use these on, the volume control either works or it doesn't, nbd. The mute button has always worked as advertised. Although anything Labtec wouldn't be considered stylish, the functionality is second to none.

Pros: USB, Noise Reduction, no sound card required
Cons: Bulky and a lot of excess cabling. Not really any issues.

I looked for a long time for a good quality microphone for my computer for doing voice-overs. This is a very simple plug and play device. Voice is crystal clear and virtually no background noise.

I use this for producing video tutorials on various software applications and my customers are always asking me what I use to make my audio sound so good. Well, until this microphone I got a lot of comments on how I needed to buy a new one.
