Good enough for a cheap secondary system.

by weister42 , Aug 29 '02
Pros: Nice bass for the price, very cheap on eBay.
Cons: Weak high frequency response, high range response breaks up at certain frequencies.
At first glance:

I didn't want my receiver to be on all day because it runs hot, and the fact that I live in a dorm so loud system was not always a good idea, I was looking for a cheap but capable secondary audio system. I bought the Labtec...

Pros: convenient headphone jack on the right satellite; dedicated subwoofer volume control
Cons: master volume control knob on the right satellite is a bit flimsy
Why the delay??? I have had these speakers for over five years now, and they're still working like a charm. So, why am I writing a review NOW when these speakers aren't even on the market anymore? Well, it's just to show my appreciation ...

Pros: Clear mid-range and powerful bass for less than $50!
Cons: Hardwired speaker connections, no tone controls, bass can be overwhelming without adjustment
The Labtec Pulse 424 computer speaker set is one of those all-too-rare cases where you actually get more than you paid for. For less than $50, it features a powerful, wood-enclosed subwoofer, two compact satellites with great mid-range and...

Labtec 424 --Amazing Sound for Little Investment

by Vezer , Jan 15 '02
Pros: Amazing Sound and Style for the price
Cons: Not the best highs, cord between speakers could be a little longer.
I am a college student at a military school, which means that I had a few limitations and careful considerations to think of when choosing computer speakers. The first one was money, and the $50 msrp on these speakers intrigued my college wallet....

good speakers...GREAT base.

by reviewingman1 , Mar 03 '02
Pros: Very Loud Base, Something I love
Cons: Bass has to be just in the right spot to get excellent sound.
Intro... Getting the speakers home.

After I blew out my old speakers I went straight to the store to get new ones... I can't go more than an hour without my mp3's. At bestbuy the guy recommended Labtec pulse- 424. At first I wasn't to...

Good value computer speakers

by compuwhiz , Jan 09 '02
Pros: CHEAP, high output, good construction & features
Cons: Only partial soundstage reproduction
If you're like me, you probably want something better than the $10 boxy computer speakers that came with your system. When searching for amplified computer speakers, there are many many different brands and models to choose from, with prices ranging from...

by jcolbert , Jun 11 '02
Pros: Excellent wall-shaking sound Headphone jack, volume control, power switch in satellite speaker. Price
Cons: Treble weak. A little boomey. Satellites feel cheap.
I picked up a set of these through Just Deals. They were $20 a set for refurbs with 30 day warranty. They came wrapped in plastic and bubble wrap without an internal box.

After unpacking them, I set the 2 satellites on top of my monitor, and...

I am Pulse, hear me ROAR!

by gbm85 , Dec 25 '02
Pros: LOUD bass, cheap, headphone jack
Cons: Bass drowns out the treble in apps w/o EQ
I owned a set of Altec Lansing speakers (ACS-33). They were good speakers, with very clear treble, but the were missing something... BASS! While true audiofiles insist on balanced bass and treble, I want only bass. And these speakers deliver....

Labtec Pulse-424 rocks

by bcchng , Apr 24 '02
Pros: Cheap , Powerful and good-looking sub-woofer.
Cons: Some noisy sounds can be heard from the satelites
What can I say ? Labtec Pulse-424 is the monster among the same genres. It consists of 2 satelites with 6 watt each and one 20 watt sub-woofer. The bass from sub-woofer is very strong,it shakes your house even when you just adjust it to 1/4 of max. The...

LabTec Pulse-424 were a great choice for me

by abbie , Jan 10 '02
Pros: Good speakers with easy setup
Cons: Not cheap, but worth the price
I am not an audiophile, but I did want a nice set of speakers for my new computer when I built it last year. I picked the LabTec Pulse-424 system because A) it had a subwoofer, B)it wasn't the cheapest thing on the shelf, and C) it wasn't too pricey....

These are LabTec?
by Techdude49 ,Sep 08 '03
Pros: Excellent sound, good price
Cons: none
LabTec speakers used to be crap. However, that changed with the introduction of these speakers over 2 years ago.

The speakers retailed for $49. I paid the full retail price with they first hit the shelves at BestBuy. They were worth every dollar! The sound is clear, the bass is BIG, the treble and midrange are very transparent. I have a friend with the Klipsch ProMedia speakers and these sound almost as good. Believe me, he was shocked when we compared them on my system.

Since these are computer speakers, there's not much more to say except to thank the German company that bought LabTec and turned them around! Thank you!
