Pros: Fabulous food, unique cuisine, romantic Cons: Can be pricey, no easy to find free parking
I ate dinner at Lala Rokh during Boston's restaurant week in March 2007. Restaurant week occurs about twice a year in Boston and over a hundred restaurants offer a three course menu for $33.07. Lunches are $20.07. This gimmick is to fill restaurants ...
In our version of the English language, we use the term "spicy" as something that uses of intense peppery ingredients that repel our tongue or make our mouths explode with heat. Persian cooking is completely different, instead relying on a subtle use of ...
Pros: everything about this place was wonderful Cons: nothing
When I bought my condo, I was taken here for the celebration of that particular milestone. What a wonderful evening. The space for Lala Rokh used to belong to another restaurant, whose name escapes me. The food at that place was nothing to write home...
Pros: Great decor, food, and service Cons: parking
I have been to many restaurants around the world. But I have never found another like Lala Rokh. Since I fell in love with this place I have taken clients, friends and family to this oasis. They have never disappointed us. I find the service...
Pros: Great food, great atmosphere Cons: None come to mind...
Getting its name from the title of a Thomas Moore poem, where a promised bride falls in love with a lowly clown only to find out that her Prince has disguised himself to enchant her, the restaurant lives up to the romantic standard set by its name. ...
Pros: fascinating use of spices you don't find that much in typical american, indian, asian dishes Cons: location is a bit cramped, but it's Beacon Hill, so what do you expect?
Luckily, we didn't have the service problems some reviewers had, but we went on a weeknight so it wasn't that crowded, but fairly full for a weeknight. The waiter suggested a few items that were popular and our water was filled regularly except after we ...
Pros: delicious Persian food, great service, decor Cons: a bit pricey, kitchen may not be consistent with larger groups
La La Rokh is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The delectable flavors of Persian stews seasoned with saffron and the wonderful appetizers and sides at La La Rokh are a unique experience to this city, and the attention to service and decor is...
Pros: beautiful and romantic Cons: poor quality of food
Our party of 10 went to Lala Rokh for a birthday. Reading the available reviews in Zagat's and such led me to have very high expectations.
The decore and ambiance of this Persian restaurant was indeed lovely, and the availibility of several...
Pros: Location, presentation, service Cons: Difficulty remembering the names of dishes I've had!!!
La La Rokh is the ongoing project of Azita Bina-Siebel, the former owner of Azita's on Tremont St. in Boston. When it closed, she joined her brother in creating this warm little Beacon Hill space. The food is Persian, traditional recipes that have been...
Pros: Pleasant environment Cons: Let's have rice with meals as a no brainer

I have dined at several Persian restaurants in the country and Lala Rokh (LR)has the most promising ambience for a fine dining experience presented in this motif. LR has a charming location, adequate parking in the...

terrible service spoils an evening out by humeira ,Apr 19 '05
Pros: maybe the food is good - did not get a chance to try it Cons: Rude nmanagers, long wait despite reservations
We were surprised at our Lala Rokh experience this saturday 4/16/05. We were excited at the prospect of dinner at what our friends tell us is a great restaurant. We arrived at 8.20 to secure our table which was reserved for 8.30. The unsmiling person who checked us in asked us to wait but did not tell us there was a delay. After waiting 20 minutes we politely inquired about our table. The woman snapped that all the other people had 8.30 reservations too. Nine PM came and went and people hurried by us while no one bothered to tell us what was happening. At 9.10 pm we decided to leave and informed the managers. Surprisingly, from a restaurant that has gotten such good reviews, there was no apology or regret. Just "OK" and a shrug. I think a good part of a restaurant experience is the greeting, service, and ambience. I do not care how good the food is rumored to be. These people were downright rude and they will not get my business any time soon.
Disappointing overall - management very poor by josef617 ,Mar 22 '09
Pros: Unique food - waitstaff was helpful. Cons: Management, dessert could be improved
The food was good, but the overall experience was lacking - particularly given the cost.
It took more than 20 mins to leave my car with the valet (a requirement on Beacon Hill) - at one point, cars were stacked 4 deep on Charles St. The management didn't seem to care.
At one point, the owner actually yelled at some of us in our party (5 couples - check over $800) when we questioned the bill.
Good to see they don't care about repeat business in this economy. We won't be going back to Lala Rokh.
