Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit ... A superb hotel in Bangkok

by reginafug reginafug is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Hotels & Travel, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 17 '06
Pros: The rooms are wonderful and the staff is friendly, polite and attentive without being overwhelming.
Cons: Can't think of any
This hotel is a member of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, and it truly lives up to its 5-star rating. It is located in a very convenient location, the heart of Bangkok’s business district. The Asok Skytrain and the Sukhumvit subway station is only ...

The SGS - my new favorite place in Bangkok

by chris26wi , Jul 29 '04
Pros: Location, room size, service level, pool area
Cons: Price
As I usually like to change places sometimes during my Bangkok trips, I had booked the Sheraton Grande last time – using Priceline. This hotel had been recommended to me before several times, so my expectations were quite high…. 1. Location, ...

Great hotel but with one tiny flaw

by gard , Jul 05 '08
Pros: Big room, great service, nice pool, good location
Cons: No free internet
I stayed at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok from June 27th to June 29th 2008. I have been to Bangkok a few times before and I have stayed at places like Lebua, Rembrandt, Majestic, Dusit Thani etc so I feel that I do have some experience when it ...

A jewel in Starwood's crown

by matthewclement , Jun 04 '03
Pros: Great city-center property with excellent service, good transport, and great rooms
Cons: Being refurbished, no river view
Introduction

We stayed at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in May 2003 on an award stay -- sadly not the bargain it once was. When we stayed, the hotel was rated as a Category 2 hotel, but it has subsequently been re-rated as a category...

Excellent Hospitality, Not The Greatest Location

by SimianFox , Aug 19 '08
Pros: Excellent service, comfortable rooms, great pool & fitness center
Cons: Location
We stayed at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit for three nights in July ’08 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hospitality and service were excellent and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We arrived straight from the airport, which cost about ...

Convenient location; comfortable, terrific pool area

by zeecee , Mar 29 '06
Pros: Convenient location; comfortable, an easy place. Many restaurants.
Cons: Needs some updating; guests could be tended to better. Internet is costly.
The conflict when booking a hotel in Bangkok is whether to be on the river or near the Skytrain, and we opted for the latter, choosing the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit for its reviews and proximity to the train. While the location is, indeed, excellent, I ...

Slice of Paradise in the Concrete City

by fun1wpb , Aug 15 '04
Pros: Excellent Service, Elegant Setting, Great Breakfast Buffet
Cons: Traffic in front of hotel could make for a long cab ride
We enjoyed a 9 day stay at the Sheraton Grande Sukhimvit. While it is "expensive" for a Bangkok hotel, the price was much less than I would expect to pay for a similar hotel in any US City. The price also included a full breakfast buffet each morning. ...

The Standard in Class!

by drummaster1200 , Dec 16 '04
Pros: Luxurious, beautiful, convenient, modern, hi-tech, and all wrapped up into one convenient package.
Cons: The poor children begging for money as you walk to Asoke Station.
The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is byfar the most luxurious hotel I have ever seen. The walls are upholstered, tons of Thai, and Asian style art work are spread throughout the building. The Service is absolutly incredible, they will stop at nothing to ...

Fantastic Hotel in Bangkok

by ozoudpe , Jul 15 '02
Pros: Pool Area, transport and quality of hotel.
Cons: Distance from tourist areas.
Stayed at the hotel in Feb 2001, for 3 days on our way to Phuket (see review on Sheraton Grande Laguna Beach).

The hotel had a great location right alongside the skytrain track, definitely the best way to get around Bangkok. Though it was a...

Pretty Good
by gt4877c ,May 25 '04
Pros: Nice restaurants, drinks in the lounge was nice. Breakfast is a good one.
Cons: Bathroom tiles were aqua which made it feel weird.
This hotel is a normal 5 star hotel. All the services provided are what we expected for the price. The food was good, and the decor was nice. The service was helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice 5 star in Bangkok. Free drinks in the lounge were a nice addition. The concierge was helpful in planning our day trips around Bangkok.
