The Meridien Cancun Resort and Spa is a lovely hotel, with fantastic service and great amenities.
Some high points were:
- the buffet breakfast served daily was excellent with great variety and unlimited adult beverages
- the hotel has a babysitting service
- the spa was heavenly with a superb steam room and jacuzzi, and amazing massages
- the service in all the restaurants was stellar
- the beachside and poolside service was above par, with friendly and helpful servers
- the rooms were luxurious with balcony views of the water (on both sides)
- the bathrooms boast both a shower and a tub

Pros: Nice employees
Cons: LOUD, uncomfortable rooms

I looked at a lot of hotels in Cancun online, and ended up with this one. Big mistake. The employees were nice enough, but the rooms are really not comfortable, especially for $300/night. There was no carpeting, so the sound reverberated. We could hear our neighbors on all sides. Also, the room's furniture was really uncomfortable.

The gym was OK. The pools were OK.
