Pros: Looks "cool" similar to a PSP or DS handheld but "more" educational, sturdy Cons: How educational is it really? Battery hog, LeapFrog connect can be "tricky" & uncooperative.
My now 8 1/2 year old son literally grew up on LeapFrog. At age 4 he became hooked on the Leapster Handheld which he more than loved. He took it ...
Pros: fun! educational! color graphics, well known characters Cons: will not work with AMD processor, headphone capable
My son is in first grade and like other little boys, is interested in video games. We have a had a play station for a couple of years (my brother in laws gift to my husband) but I have never been impressed with the choice of games. I saw ...
Pros: Good educational value. Good games. Entertaining. Kids like it. You can also view progress online. Cons: Quality is the worst.
Bought this for my son for Christmas to use when we are traveling in the car and on longer trips. He really likes the games. He is 7. They have good educational value too. I like that. Seems like it could be perfect. Now for the bad: -Had to ...
Pros: educational, personalized, great price, web-site is interactive Cons: need to put out more games
We purchased a leapfrog didj for our 7 year-old daughter for Christmas last year. She absolutely loves to play these video games! We really like the options to add and personalize the games with her spelling words or math levels from ...
Pros: The games are entertaining and educational. Cons: The device itself performs as if it's still in a beta phase. Don't buy it.
Avoid the Diji. Interface is hypersensitive. Device sucks power and kills batteries at record speed. Websites primary function seems to be to drive the user to more leapster products. You would think they'd want you to be happy with what you've bought before annoying you with another pitch.
The games are entertaining and educational. To advance in the games the player is required to answer questions in math, spelling or other subject matter. The educational component is well integrated with the action so children won't lose interest.
It requires that you hookup to the website to "Tune up" or download components. The tune up websites requires you to find the necessary links in a screen full of advertising and thinly disguised marketing.
The sequence you need to follow in tuning up your device is quite rigid and clumsy. Interuptions in your connection with the website may confuse both the website programming and the device. In short, unless you are an software engineer who really likes to tinker- skip it, the digi is not worth the effort.
The games are educational... if you can get the device to work.
Pros: My kid likes playing the games. Cons: Expensive games; Problems? Deal with someone halfway around the world; nightmare to link to computer.
This has been a nightmare. They have very enticing commercials for kids, but the bottom line is that it's horrible. My mom thought that this would be more educational gaming system (gift) than the Nintendo DS because we could personalize the learning. We haven't gotten that far because I couldn't link the machine to the computer. I followed all instructions and it wouldn't work. My kid just kept losing all the bitz he earned while playing and the system kept shutting down on him. After emailing and calling the company for more than 2 months and being promised one was on the way, we FINALLY received the new one. It's doing the same thing as the first. Communicating with this company is via the Phillipines. It may be cheaper for the company, but worse on consumers.
Had nothing but trouble with the Didj, had to return it after 2 days because it kept shutting on and off by itself and the one it exchanged it for has caused nothing but trouble. Way to expensive and no selection in games. Save yourself the grief and just buy your kid a DS, have one myself and it's a pleasure to use.
