LEATHERMAN TOOLS : Not Just For The Outdoorsman

by phineaskc Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Oct 20 '01
Pros: multipurpose tool; perfect gift for anyone; great for camping
Cons: no scissors but doesn't take away from the product that much.
The Leatherman Tool was not high on my wish list for holidays or any other reason. I stopped into a local outfitter to purchase some heavy boot socks before the weather takes a turn for the worse and noticed several men standing around a counter talking...

Leatherman Original Multi-Tool, Many Chores with One Tool

by popsrocks popsrocks is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Home and Garden, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Mar 07 '06
Pros: Handy well-made small multi-tool
Cons: Some blades are hard to open.
I have always liked multi-use pocket tools. I suppose that started with my first Boy Scout knife when I was a kid and then continued with an upgrade to a Swiss Army Knife as years went on. I still like having a handy tool and I have had more than one ...

Jim Leatherman's Super Tool: Handy to have around (the house, office, on the belt, etc)

by Gracye8 , Jan 28 '01
Pros: Solid, versatile, robust, locking blades, effective saw
Cons: Heavy, handles need ergonomic work
Leatherman Super Tool: a super tool for those times when you don't have a toolbox (or when that tool box is too far away to go fetch) This product won't quite replace your tool box, but with the Super Tool on your belt, you do ...

Leatherman Supertool: That City Slicker Got Him...

by trphilip Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 06 '00
Pros: Has everything you need to get the job done
Cons: Makes you look a little bit country when its on your belt
a Redneck tool! I don’t chop firewood or gut fish too often. There was a time when I did, but now I’m a flat-foot in the Big Ole Windy City. So what’s a city dude like me going to do with a Leatherman? Everything thing you can think of. I started...

An entire toolbox in my pocket

by patrick860 , Aug 05 '00
Pros: Versitility and ease of use
Cons: Stiff, takes a little time to break in

I hate carrying a ton of tools around with me. While working on the road here in Atlanta I oftentimes have to park a couple blocks away from a building and walk all of my tools and equipment to the job. Seeing as my job includes electronics as...

What, no scissors?!?!?

by lnthomp , Feb 15 '01
Pros: Has most of the tools I frequently need
Cons: slightly heavy
When the Leatherman Supertool appeared on the market, I had been using the PST for several years already. Actually, I had used several PSTs because I would lay one down and it wouldn’t necessarily be there when I returned. I actually had two PSTs at...

What? You don't have one yet?!?

by kbaxter , May 30 '03
Pros: This is a tool box that fits in a small leather sheath on your belt.
Cons: Use care when extracting the screwdrivers.
A friend of mine, who is ex-military, was helping with some outdoor work and pulled out his Leatherman multi-tool. I had heard of them, but never seen one up close. He was amazed that I did not own one.

It was a couple of years later that I...

My Constant reliable companion

by fritz_t_coyote , Apr 07 '03
Pros: A toolbox on your belt: Handy, reliable, not too big, excellent quality.
Cons: Some tools tricky to open.
A few years back my wonderful sister gave me a Leatherman as a gift. I put it on my belt that Christmas day, and it has been my constant companion ever since.

Except on Airlines, where it now travels in a checked bag.

It is a...

Leatherman Supertool for nurses

by the_noid , Sep 15 '04
Pros: Durable, versatile, washable and disinfectable. Simple mechanism. Million & one uses.
Cons: Heavy. Strong locking mechanism.
Suffice it to say that the busier nurse you are, the more often you will use this device. From peeling off the metal caps from nitro bottles, to unscrewing stubborn luer-locks to fixing balky pumps, to opening stubborn valves on O2 tanks, to cutting ...

Super Leatherman

by trthomp , Feb 05 '01
Pros: Blades lock into place causing fewer accidents
Cons: HEAVY!!
If you have read my opinions on the Leatherman Micra and PST, you already know we have several of them around the house. I am fond of this tool, but I don't use it very often. It has a few features that are not offered on our smaller models.

No Pocket is Complete without a Leatherman!

by shanna Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jun 13 '00
Pros: very handy, small, lots of tools
Cons: people steal them!
I was introduced to the Leatherman tool when I was in the Navy. These tools are simply too useful to go through life without! I now have several of them. I keep one in my purse, one in the glovebox and there is one in the house and one in the garage....

Peace of Mind (On My Belt!)

by jeffcantara , Dec 11 '01
Pros: Indispensable Tool, I use mine everyday!
Cons: The smallest screwdriver is weak. Handles can be rough on soft hands.
I spend a great deal of time out doors. I am an avid hunter, fisherman, hiker/camper and I make my living by combining farming, forestry work and carpentry. As you can imagine, I frequently use tools.

For years, I carried a Swiss Army knife...

Pros: Strong, Sturdy, Durable, and Versatile. New locking feature
Cons: New locking feature.
I work in the telecommunications field in the Air Force. When I arrived at my first duty station 10 years ago, I was given a Leatherman. It was one of the original brands of Leatherman. I was totally surprised by the amount of features that were included...

The Swiss Army Alternative

by manga , Nov 29 '99
Pros: clip, nice shape, multiple tools
Cons: more expensive than standard leatherman with same features, could use another blade
When people think "multipurpose knife" they automatically think "Swiss Army". Surely nobody can argue that the Swiss Army brand knives truly made the multi-purpose knife a household name. That doesn't mean that their hasn't been...
