Pros: Looks nice Cons: It is a piece of junk
I purchased this amplifier and hooked it up in my Firebird. It was ok as far as the power goes but once the vehicle was started it picked up excessive alternater whine. I checked everything and put a noise supressor on that helped but it still was...

Pros: Nice look, does ok if you are not using it as competition Cons: Weak power, RMS is way below actual power rating (Almost 1/3 power)
Although They look Nice, American Legacy Amps tend to produce way less power then actually stated on the Box. The 1000 Watt American Legacy Amp pushes only about 200-300 actual RMS, which was not efficient at All. If you are looking for a nice sounding...

Horrible
by awallz4 ,Feb 21 '05
Pros: None Cons: Everything, too many of them to mention
I have another legacy amnplifier other than the one above, and it is absolutely horrible. It has no where near the advertised wattage, and it has a buzzing sound that is characteristic of legacy products. I am knowledgeable in car audio and I should have known better than to get a legacy amplifier, but I just wanted a cheap amplifier for my tweeters. I didn't realize that it would be this crappy. I have a Lanzar Htg2600g amplifer on my Orion p-series 15 in a vented box, and it works beautifully, but don't by any legacy amplifiers because although it is (I believe) the same company as Lanzar; Legacy's equipment is really about 3 steps below entry level.

Very cheap amp, in all respects.
by ijcobra ,May 09 '04
Pros: Cheap, looks nice. It's an amp. Cons: Noisy, cheap, actual power is much less than advertised.
I ended up with this amp as a result of an eBay auction. I got this amp, a Pyramid 400x2 RMS amp, 2 Audiobahn 12's, and a bandpass box for $250. I thought it was a good deal. It was, to a degree.
Other reviews of this amp speak of the noise it generates. I have to agree. I also have a RPM related buzzing in my speakers using this amp. The noise is worst at low volume, and becomes indistinguishable at high volume.
The amp itself looks nice. Chrome all over.
There is no crossover. No high-pass, no low-pass.
It says it's a 100x4 amp. That's peak. Why any manufacturer advertises the peak power I don't know. It's a bullsh*t, made up number. I'm hoping it's pushing 50x4 RMS. RMS is 70.7% of peak power, the comparable DC power of AC. I think some manufactures claim the peak-to-peak numbers.
Anyways, don't pay more than $50 for this amp.
