Pros: Easy to setup and use, inexpensive, works well Cons: None yet
I work from my home and have a good bit of work to do every evening. The drill was always the same; come home, go for my run, shower, eat, head into my office and be gone for a good hour or two. It drove my wife nuts and we never saw each other until ...
Pros: Small, feature rich, low cost, does what it says it will: fast wireless connectivity Cons: External antenna not included
My laptop has been tied to the desk in the computer room for the last 2 years because I didn't own a wireless router. Friends would complain about how they couldn't connect to the internet from my guest room or the living room when they were visiting ...
Pros: Great package, small size, easy to install, good performance, low price, portable
Cons: Probably not as robust physically as some others and check the version number.
My SMC Barricade Router finally gave up suddenly during the middle of the day. I was thrust into the decision-making shopping for a new router. Wow it is amazing how much has changed in 3 years! There are a number of excellent choices available now. I ...
Pros: Its very small and compact.
Its very solid and stable.
Its stackable. Cons: No external antenna...affects range.
Lights very close together - hard to distinguish between them.
After failing to have a Hawking router (HWR54G: see my review of it) work as my main router I decided to give this one a try when seeing it was on sale for $20 after rebate at Staples and reading a lot of positive reviews on it. The first thing I ...
Pros: low cost, easy setup, WPA2 security, good transfer rates/no connection problems Cons: updating firmware a problem, small antenna = smaller range, external antenna expensive
Overview Well one of the key reasons I bought this router were the generally positive reviews here and around the web (especially compared with other low end routers). I wanted something newer and most of the other "G" routers have been around ...
Pros: Small, fast, easy to install Cons: You'll need an antenna if you want to leave the room.
This is a handy little router. I use it in my home office, and it's fast. If you're a Mac user, like me, be advised that the security set-up is different from an Airport. With the Airport, you put in a password, and that's that. With this unit, you ...
Pros: Little box with big abilities, easy to set up and use, and works well. Cons: Wish the optional external antenna came with it - just in case.
A newcomer to the ever expanding world of wireless technology, I was apprehensive about purchasing a wireless broadband router. I read up on this new fangled stuff, researched the available products, and resolved to purchase the Linksys WRT54GC. It ...
Pros: Very compact; reliable. Cons: Cannot turn off radio broadcast; settings are not intuitive; may be finicky to set up.
For this dummy, this is a great router. The quick set-up CD is helpful, but I ran into problems configuring it with my service provider. I had to check with my provider's website (Telus in Canada), manually configure the router settings via the web, ...
Pros: Worked normally for about a year. Cons: When product (inevitably) fails, customer service does anything but serve the customers.
It worked fine for a year, disconnecting at random intervals like all routers, but not too much. Then the problems began. One day out of the blue, it would connect locally, but not to the Internet, no matter how many times I reset ...
Pros: nothing it doesnt work Cons: difficult setup, extremely poor wireless. Some serious internal problems. Widespread identical complaints.
I was impressed with the small size of this router. I currently use an old linksys router and a seperate lnksys WIFI point so I was attracted to the fact that the WRT54GC would replace both these bulky old devices. Unfortunately the WRT54GC is a useless ...
Pros: Sleek Looks and great signal strength especially for its size. Cons: Connection drops, regardless of distance to the router, are a constant problem.
I purchased this wireless router about two months ago and have been satisfied with its range. Bad: Its connection strength is a completely different story. I have had my connection dropped a countless number of times regardless of how close or how ...
Pros: Easy Setup Cons: Should have come with a manual explaining troubleshooting steps and firmware upgrades.
I bought this router to use it with my iBook G4. The setup consisted of plugging in my cable modem into the router and powering the router up. I turned on my iBook which immediately detected the wireless network. The web based administration interface is pretty straight forward and there is a help link in each section. This thing worked right out of the box, but remember to change the factory default settings for security, i.e turn SSID broadcast off, change the SSID name, enable WAP. This router did not come with a manual. Also, when upgrading the firmware you need to do it through an ethernet cable connected to the router. You cannot upgrade the firmware from a wireless computer. If you do, you'll mess up the router, which I did.
Not recommended for pppoe connection which is required by most DSL operators by ashutoshj ,Apr 22 '06
Pros: Compact Cons: PPPOE Configuration
I had a bad experience with Linksys WRT54GC. It does not ask for Service name in pppoe configuration and if your ISP requires it, the only option is to replace your router with a different one. All other routers ask for Service name except Linksys. When I contacted technical support, they told me that the only option is to buy a new router from a different company or tell my ISP to change their configuration so that there is no need to enter service name field. They are adamant on not upgrading their firmware to include Service name field in PPPOE configuration.
The Linksys Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one small box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you con...More at eBay
