  • Linksys ... not [exactly] a Cisco-branded product.

    Jan 17, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: All-in-one unit with easy setup which, in theory, promises an uncluttered home solution.
Cons: Poor cable connection (WAN) reliability requiring manual resets. Settings spontaneously reset.

Summary: DISCLAIMER: I'm not against all-in-one solutions and for many home users a wireless cable-modem gateway with a default-on firewall/router and WAP WiFi support may be the perfect choice on a tight budget. However, I would avoid the Linksys WCG200 -- if ... read more

    Pros: ease of use, convenient
    Cons: lousy technical service

Summary: The modem is OK. Fairly easy to configure through the web based interface. We bought it to avoid having the two separate boxes for the modem and router. The wireless connection works fine. We have WEP security, which you have to set up. But the ... read more

Cons: Would be nice if is had faster wireless (Speedbooster)

Summary: I have had my WCG200 v.2 for about 2 months. About a month ago, I noticed that my connection was CONSTANTLY dropping. This is a REAL pain when you have Vonage and your phones are going down all the time. Sometimes I would stay connected for most of the ... read more
