Works Well Once Setup

by dmh1967 , Jan 12 '08
Pros: Affordable, signal strength, latest security features
Cons: Can be difficult to setup, LED lights are not very bright and hard to read.
I purchased this on sale for $99 at Staples. I had previously used a wired Linksys router and had very good results with it, so I stuck with the same brand. In addition to the wireless capability of this router, there are also four wired ports for ...

Worked right out of the box

by erwin1978 , Apr 29 '07
Pros: full house coverage
Cons: only 1 year warranty, generates heat
I needed a wireless router with great range and coverage. There are a lot of Pre-n routers that are inexpensive and reportedly better performance than regular wireless-g routers, but they have a limited future in my mind. I wanted at least a Draft-n ...

Very unstable connection

by leon7g , Jan 06 '08
Pros: I don't know, looks pretty?
Cons: It doesn't work
I bought this router 2 months ago. It worked ok for a month and then I started to lose connection, sometimes reconnecting pretty soon, sometimes not wanting to reconnect, sometimes I couldn't even see my network. Normally it comes back by itself after ...

Linksys Upgrade Policy

by agivanov , Jan 12 '09
Pros: Good design, easy installation.
Cons: Provider does not support old product - you need to upgrade old product for money.
I have bought Linksys WRT150N wireless router from BestBuy by seller recommendation about a year ago. It was my first router so I could not compare it with others. It worked within my home at 20-25 ft distance from my computer. The problem was it kept ...

easy to configure, performs flawlessly - great security
by mnormington ,Nov 25 '07
Pros: easy setup
Cons: none
This router is easy to set up and use even for a novice. I had absolutely no problem configuring it. Also, it has nice firewall features. Encryption is a snap as well. I am very glad I bought this one as opposed to the wireless G unit. I had that one and it was a total pain to set up. this one was MUCH easier and works way better.

UPDATE: It allows you to set up the WEP, WAP and WAP2 (best) wireless encryption. Also has nice firewall features. I have had it over a month now and couldn't be happier with it. VERY easy to live with.

Dont buy it
by peasofmind ,Sep 25 '08
Pros: Easy to set up.
Cons: Wireless signal is really weak.
Dont buy it online. You will return this product 99% of the time. All I got was 1Mbps yes ONE mbps. Calling linksys tech support would make you suicidal.
I guess your wireless processor should be N compatible. I had linksys G which was working fine. I paid $60 and got nothing out of it

Tata Indicom Photon+ the External Modem
by sahiltanwar654 ,Mar 19 '09
Pros: stylish dongle, simple to install, Affordable, signal strength
Cons: N.A
This is a great product. Finally something that really makes a notable difference. I have been wondering when India will catch up with the west as far as internet speeds were concerned. Now broadband has arrived but internet on the move was still a struggle.
Most of the products out there have been poor in terms of signals and coverage, except Tata Indicom. However net speeds still left quite a bit to be desired.
Photon+ not only has a stylish dongle but also quite a simple install. Running it also does not particularly have any kind of high system requirements. Activation was really a delight since it was rather simple and ready to use. So far compatible with Windows only though.
Speed of course is the main facet of this connection and given it is an HSIA (High Speed Internet Access).
Another huge bonus is the Wi-fi nature of this revolutionary product. Now it connects not just via USB but also wirelessly to devices sharing the internet.
Overall a tremendous upgrade from anything else in the market. This is definitely a category breaker, rather a category MAKER!!

Piece of CRAP
by gwilli4647 ,Jan 04 '08
Pros: It will make a nice loud crunch when I smash it with a sledgehammer.
Cons: My dog and cat have heard awful language because of this junk.
Piece of JUNK. Bought this to replace a 300N Linksys, which was also junk. Cannot send an effective, stable signal 50 feet. Customer support answer after HOURS on line with them was "MOVE YOUR COMPUTER." Distance does not matter - the signal is erratic, unstable, and inconsistent. Constantly have to re-acquire the network. Was told by sales staff at Best Buy that the systems are design to last no more than 2 years. Mine is failing after 2 months. I will replace this Linksys crap with something else, and will NEVER buy another Linksys piece of junk

Wireless Internet with Tata Indicom Photon
by arun66 ,Apr 17 '09
Pros: NA
Cons: NA
Tata Teleservices (TTML) has announced its new High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) wireless solution called Photon .

The company claims that Photon is 20 times faster than the existing mobile wireless technology offering data rates up to 3.1 Mbps. This is compatible with both laptops as well as desktops. Photon is accessible via both Routers and USB Modems; this would cater to both business segment as well as consumers.

It offers dual compatibility between HSIA and CDMA 1X coverage/mode.

The best part in the Photon is that it offers easy ‘self installation' with LAN/WLAN connectivity and OS support for Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS X. So this is a plus point for all Mac users.

I can't write much about its connection and speed, but the company claims for faster e-mail access and file transfers, slicker presentations, and better experience of audio and video streaming and so on.

This is also available in Mumbai with a one-time installation charge of Rs.3500, while the tariff plan begins from Rs 299 to Rs. 1250.

Finally the Tatalaunches Photon+ something that makes a difference. Most of these products have poor signals and coverage, like the Reliance. The Tata Indicom is much better you get signal mostly everywhere, however net speeds is not quite preferred.

The routers helpful for multiple users in small and medium businesses (SMB) and business enterprises which is configured with an in-built modem and has Wi-Ficapabilities. The USB Modem that can be directly plugged into a computer, for individual users.
