Pros: Does produce stronger signals, fast, good setup program, and good tech support. Cons: Security option could cause major probem if changed on multiple component system
Background In my house there are four computers including a desktop (server) and three laptops. We also have one handheld. There are two printers - one-all-in-one inkjet and one color laser. Why all this equipment? Two professionals and three ...
Pros: It definitely improved my signal strength for my laptop I carry around the house. Cons: No real instructions for the process of set up. That first password thing confused me.
I bought this particular router in hopes that it would do a better job than may previous router I bought through Dell. I am no techi and I still found this router very easy to install. I wish they had given some instructions that would better define the ...
Pros: Strong, fast, reliable connection. Basic and advanced features. Useful manual (CD). Easy setup (browser). Cons: Setup wizard on CD doesn't work. No ON/OFF button on the unit.
I know some basic networking but I am no expert especially on wireless technology. My DSL line comes in on the second floor to a PC but I plan to use my new laptop on the first floor mainly. The staff at the networking department of a ...
Pros: Very Easy CD setup process
Signal Strength at least doubled over standard wireless router Cons: None
I have had Linksys routers for years and have absolutely no trouble with them. With my cable broadband access I was using the latest Wireless-G router (WRT54GS) with an added Linksys speedbooster and getting EXCELLENT coverage throughout my home. All was ...
Pros: FAST and GREAT range, the 3x the range claimed is probably accurate Cons: initial FW didnt support my VOIP phone. slow GUI
This is a great device, i upgraded from a wrt54g because it wouldnt cover my whole house. Coverage was improved instantly with this device, even with the old standard 54-G wireless card. With the SRX400 card, the speed is amazing (240 Mbps) and it really is faster than wired connections in bursts so i would say its worth getting a new card as well.
There were some issues however, the device i bought (on 4/7/06) had firmware 1.00.9, which will not work for VOIP routers behind the router with the firewall enabled on the gx4. Upgrade to > 1.00.15 and you should be good to go... was for me anyway after a HARD reset.
I dont use the setup CDs so i cant comment on that, but manual setup was just as simple as older linksys routers, the GUI seems a bit slower for some reason... but whatever, probably will be fixed in later FW revisions.
Pros: Can't tell till I get one that works. Cons: Brand new and doesn't work. Wasted 3 hours of time.
Device was in perfect physical condition. Everything connected properly and all lights were working correctly. But when attempted to setup/config the device got the message "no wireless-G broadband router found." Windows said it was connected, ipconfig said it was connected, but when PING was performed- "request timed out." Tried with 2 different computers, and go the same result with both wired and wireless connection. Spent 40 minutes on phone with Linksys service who, in the end, said it had to be returned. Linksys should spend a little more time on quality control. Every device should be tested as it comes off the assembly line, and every component of the device should be tested before making the device.
It doesn't work with my Dell Latitude D600 Laptop. Does not work with Vonage with Motorola box. I have gone back to my original 802.11b equipment. Anyone want to buy one?
The word "Recall" comes to mind. I have emailed tech support and haven't heard a peep out of them. Any class action lawyers around?
