Pros: Inexpensive, looks and feels great on the lips, a light wash of natural color Cons: Cap doesn't reflect the true color inside
I love my lip balms, butters, and glosses and try new ones all the time. Usually, I like sheer tints better than heavy lipsticks yet I still like a wash a color on my lips. Burts Bees Lip Shimmer in Merlot was the first of the Burts Bees ...
Pros: Great lip balm, nice pepperminty-ness, fairly good color selection, cheap Cons: Caps/bases of the tubes don't match actual lip shimmer colors, can be hard to find
I had been ogling the Burt's Bees lip shimmers at my health food market for a long time before I finally caved and bought a couple of shades. There was quite a selection of shades to choose from: Cocoa, Guava, Papaya, Rhubarb, Raisin, Nutmeg, ...
Pros: Cheap, portable, nice minty tingle if you're into that. Cons: Cap/display colors aren't what you get on your lips or even in the tube.
I bought two lip shimmers last week since they were on sale at Walgreens. I chose the Merlot since it was the deepest red, figuring it will leave a slight tint of deep burgundy. Now I love glosses and tints (I usually use Chanel, Nars, or Lancome), and ...
Pros: All natural, won't harm your skin, inexpensive compared to other brands. Cons: I haven't found any negatives at the moment!
Burt's Bees is a relatively new item to the UK market. It originated in the United States and has been selling heavily on all fronts knocking some of the best selling names off the number 1 list. Due to Burt's Bees using only natural ingredients to ...
Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer, Merlot - Disappointing by bigskeptic - Top 1000,Jul 13 '05
Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Waxy, color doesn't apply evenly or last.
I'm addicted to glosses and tints. I happened to be at my local CVS and saw a display for Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. Since it's small, inexpensive, SPF 15 and a brand I trust I decided to bite. I opted for Merlot, the deepest red available there.
When I tried it for the first time, it was over another rose colored lip tint. The Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer did make it redder, but not very glossy. So the next time I tried it alone. Not much different. Merlot is more like a true cherry red on me. It's a bit waxy, not very shimmery or glossy at all. The color also does not go on evenly whether I use it alone or over liner, another treatment, anything. Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer is also not lasting at all. So I can't tell how good the SPF 15 will do.
I recommend saving those few dollars for a Starbucks treat instead.
