The Lite-On LTD 163D / JLMS XJ-HD163D is an internal IDE DVD-ROM drive for the PC, 16X DVD-ROM & 48X CD-ROM read. The 163D is Lite-On's main offering in the internal DVD ROM desktop market, very afforable and widely available. Lite-On also...
About 6 months ago I bought a 24x cd burner(Lite-On), so I thought after using it for a month, I should get a dvd drive. When I used to use my old 48x cd rom it took me around 6 minutes to burn a cd. I decided to go with the Lite-On dvd drive to match ...
Pros: It's fast (8X-15X DVD rip) It's cheap, it's black. Cons: Mushy Front Buttons? I guess that's all I can come up with.
DVD RIP:
This is my 5th DVD drive! and I have finally found it! I've had Creative Labs, Pioneer, Samsung, Plextor and now this one. Lite-On used to be crap, but now they are awesome! The last DVD Movie I ripped, this pic says it ALL:
Pros: FAST, inexpensive, comes with full retail version of CyberLink's PowerDVD Cons: Noisy, little documentation
I need to replace an old, worn out drive and wanted to get a DVD drive for the future. I also wanted a drive that could rip audio fast. I found a website, www.cdspeed2000.com , that rated this driver Third overall out of all available DVD-ROM, CD-ROM,...
Pros: The eject door does works. Comes in Black. Cons: Who is Liteon? Loud, may support DVD R/RW. Froze system 4-5x during DVD movie.
I bought a Dell with this installed on it. It could not read DVD R/RW in two different brands of media. I also downloaded the lastest firmware update and it froze my system to the point where I lost this piece of junk and my NEC burner. Just look a ...
Pros: High DAE speed
Quiet
Cheap Cons: None so far
I purchased this drive quite a while ago to upgrade my workstation's ripping capabilities. I selected the Lite-on specifically for it's DAE performance.
It replaced a CD-ROM drive rated at 52x, but the Lite-on easily outperformed that drive. It also has been very reliable with scratched and damaged disks.
I use this drive in my Windows and Linux boxes and it performs flawlessly in both.
At twice the price ($35) I would still recommend it and use it myself.
