Pros: The idea is great, but that's about it Cons: Expensive to replace
So you hired the Litter Maid to make your life a little easier. Did it? Well, for some it probably did, but for others I'm sure the thought of firing the Maid has crossed your mind.
Pros: LitterMaid Waste Receptacles have no pros. Period. Cons: LitterMaid Waste Receptacles are part of a bulky, messy and overpriced automatic cat box.
~Introduction~
If you are reading this review, you most likely are curious about the LitterMaid™ Self-Cleaning Litter Box. After all, if you have already purchased the litter box, why would you bother "researching" the waste...
Pros: Fit in the Litter Maid box and capture dirty litter Cons: Costs too much, flimsy plastic, doesn't stop odors
If you own a Litter Maid Litter Box, you are very familiar with the replacement waste receptacle component of this litter box. There are samples that come with the Litter Maid product itself in order for you to begin to immediately use your unit.

Pros: Easy to install. Cons: Thin cheap plastic. Expensive to buy.
I had purchased a Litter Maid Litter Box just about 2 weeks ago.
I had not realized the kit came with as many receptacles as it had so my husband and I decided to pick up a box of the receptacles from the local Walmart where we bought the...
Pros: They are the only ones on the market. (not much of a pro) Cons: Flimsy, wasteful, expensive contraptions w/ no generic alternative.
Ahhh, the trials and tribulations of the Litter Maid experiment. My cats so enjoyed the day we finally threw ours away, but I thought I would throw in my two cents here about the Litter Maid receptacles as part of my reviewing the system. I also reviewed ...
Pros: Works extremely well for me. Haven't
noticed any odor.
Cons: Somewhat expensive, but you can wash
and reuse them.
This receptacle is the only one to use if
you have purchased a Litter Maid automatic
litter box.
This is my first experience with owning a
cat, but, my children all have cats, and
the one thing they complain about is cleaning the...
Pros: Easy to replace. Cons: Don't last long. Expensive.
These are simply very expensive refills for the useless Litter Maid system. They do not fit very well, and they fill up way to fast. With only two cats (only two of my three will go anywhere near this box!), I used at least 2-3 of these a week. At...
Pros: ease of cleaning and disposable of litter Cons: waste containers are a little expensive
The secret to the littermaid litter box is to use only premium clumping litter. and not use too much of it. The waste containers are a little pricey but it clearly states that you can take it out and flush the contents and reuse the container. I have 5...
Pros: snaps in place Cons: expensive, weak, throws litter everywhere when you pull them out
First, let me say that I don't use these anymore, nor do I use the litter box that goes with it. The receptacles are expensive and if you have a two cat family or more, you would in theory have to use one receptacle per week (or more). What I did was...
Pros: Better than cleaning cat urine off the floor daily. Cons: The receptacles are kind of flimsy and fill up quickly, and they are expensive.
I have only had the system for a few days. I'm not crazy about the receptacles, but it beats cleaning up what I was having to clean up. I have two fairly young cats and one old cat who sometimes decided to go on the floor by the box. He likes this new ...
Pros: Catches the waste. Cons: Hard to install and too costly.
With 5 cats, I've relied on Littermaid for years, but always hated the cost of replacing receptacles. Now, on the Mega Elite model, you also have to slide the receptacle under tabs that make the whole task quite tedious. At about $1 each, it became ...
What happened to these waste receptacles? by lsailor ,Jul 25 '04
Pros: Necessary item when it works it's great! Cons: New design doesn't fit, hard to replace
I have had a Litter Maid for about 7 years now (had to replace it 2x's) and never had a complaint about the waste containers until now. For some reason, they must have changed the design because the lids do not seem to fit in their designated holes anymore! The lids are falling off the compartment all of the time and it's hard to attach the lid now to the door. Very strange.
Pros: Odor control, no daily scooping, easier for pet sitter Cons: cost (67-97 cents per receptacle), loud motor
My mom and I've used a littermaid for more than 10 years. My first box lasted 8 years before the electric eye quit working, but my mom still has her first unit. Initially it can be difficult for some people to get the disposable recetacle lids loaded correctly. My 2 siamese cats not only liked the new litter box, but for the first month they would run into the laundry room to watch the box rake whenever they heard the motor. The motor is LOUD, so keep the boxes away from bedrooms - I keep mine in the laundry room and basement. The common theme among the unhappy reviewers stems from trying to reuse the plastic receptacles. If you're not going to toss the receptacles you loose 50% of the convienience of using this litterbox. Littermaids were intended to be used with disposable plastic receptacles and are not rigid enough to carry around, and if just dumped out will begin to smell because the urine oder impregnates the plastic receptacle. My local Wal-Mart, Target, Sams Club, and grocery stores all stock the plastic receptacles, but the cheapest place I've found is to buy bulk (60 for 39.99) on-line at http://www.goodmans.net/item.asp?n=LD-LMR200R-60PK&k=LD-LMR200R-60PK&sc=NXTG
