Pros: Eliminate a coffee table full of remotes ... effortlessly! Cons: I honestly can't think of any!
Remotes!! Don't even get me started. As a custom home A/V integrator of many years, CONTROL (or lack thereof) is THE fly in the ointment for many customers. For many years, clients really had a Faustian choice. They could: 1) Purchase a "simple" ...
Pros: Highly recommended. All of your devices controlled by ONE remote, from ANYWHERE in the house? Cons: A little cumbersome to set up, but totally worth it.
I have now had this remote for 4 months and I LOVE it! It does take a little work to set up but it is totally worth it once you're done. I have read other people reviews and there are some that get frustrated and finally give up saying the remote is ...
Pros: Works as promised
Quick Set-up
Cons: Feels Cheap
Ergonomics
Crashes
I am not an installer, just your average person who has an obsession with his home theater. I purchased the Harmony 890 after a cup of coffee killed my pronto TSU 6000. Although I pretended to be upset, I was secretly happy. I was tired of the touch ...
Pros: This remote does it all! Great interface and help menus make it easy for all! Cons: Smooth buttons aren't as easy to feel
Overview Overall, I can't say enough about this remote! I love it! For once there is a universal remote that one can hold, which will truly replace every IR and RF remote that you own! Many products come with universal remotes that can do some ...
Pros: Worked well from initial setup, nice controls layout, fully backlit, great on-remote screen help Cons: Software for updates can be confusing/counterintuitive
I received the Logitech Harmony 890 a few days ago & after the initial setup, it was about 95% there. I have only spent a little time on it since working on the couple of tweaks I need to get it exactly right, but am confident I can get it to 100% ...
Pros: Programmable, well made, ergonomic design, backlighted buttons Cons: Website accommodates only one unit per User ID,
I bought this remote (and two other models of Harmony remotes), to end the problem of having 5 or 6 remotes around to operate our multimedia equipment. We also liked the fact that they are rechargeable and can be charged with just a short visit to the ...
Pros: Battery charger is a nice function Cons: Not durable. Doesn't do what it is suppose to most of the time. Terrible software.
This remote was to be the crowning jewel to our new home theater system. We had it professionally set up so that we could avoid any mistakes. At first we were pleased with it. But that lasted a very short time. I bought this remote ...
Pros: Very durable, very intuitive, very fast response, easy to set up, saves time and hassles Cons: Sometimes, but rarely has trouble switching between activities, off button is hit too easily.
I used to have to use around 4-5 remotes depending on what I was doing (Watching a DVD, playing Xbox, etc) and was extremly tired of using basic universal remotes that never worked well in the first place. I went to Best Buy and tried out a demo of the ...
Pros: Activity based buttons , transmits signal to devices well, good library of components. Attractive. Cons: Nearly useless with computers, cumbersome interface and setup, not very intelligent, overpriced.
I bought my Logitech Harmony 890 from Shipdog.com for 251 with shipping (it's going for $399 at Bestbuy and most other places). In the interests of fairness, I have only had the remote for two days. It's possible I have not had enough time to give a ...
Pros: it has a pretty screen and is easy to hold. battery life is adequate Cons: absolutely the worst tech support i have ever encountered
this may be the worst purchase i ever made. i have a harmony 880 that has functioned reasonably well; i purchased the 890 for my home theater system with some enclosed components thinking the RF converter would help. i have wasted hours trying to set it up. the remote itself seems to function but the rf receiver is useless. i have emailed support multiple times; in spite of their promise to respond within 72 hours i have had no response to any email. the biggest source of support seems to be the online forums, numerous of which list the problem i have but no solution, but detail in great degree the time wasted with low level support and refusal to contact upper level support, which apparently is the golden answer to the problem.
Harmony 890 is the best remote by sedrate ,Dec 17 '06
Pros: Ease of use, value if you need an RF/IR blaster Cons: Individual devices have many menus to scroll through.
Best remote from a convenience standpoint and price if you add up how much comparable IR repeater and RF converters cost. Setup is so easy with your computer and USB. I use a mac and the only problem I have is the Harmony software comes on at start-up of my Mac (not a problem, just irritating). Even plasmas that it doesn't have listed (Vizio for example) are easily programmed. I have asked for a second Harmony for Christmas!
I have used this remote for 2 months now and it get more frustrating every day. when it works, it works well and controls everything like it advertises. There is definately a reason they put the "remote assistant" in this because you need it continously as the remote malfunctions and/or looses touch with whether the devices are on or off. the worst part, however, is when the remote just locks up for no apparant reason and the only way to get it going again is to remove the battery and reinstall it. Ergonamically, most of the buttons are too small if you have medium to large hands and you either hit 2 at a time or the wrong one.
Good idea, but poor quality product by stephanieb96 ,Jun 28 '08
Pros: Easy programming Cons: Poor quality; broken within a few weeks of use; not compatible with TIVO
The Logitech Harmony universal remote seems like an excellent idea; we were able to program easily, and there are many choices for the components one can set up with this universal remote.
However, since we set it up, it has not been compatible with TIVO, and hence we are no longer able to successfully record programs via TIVO.
After a few weeks of sub-optimal performance, the remote has failed entirely; the buttons are now sticking so they send a continual feed to the unit, and then it locks up.
We will be asking for our money back. Logitech has not yet ironed out the problems with this remote, and needs better quality assurance.
Pros: Takes care of all the systems. Cons: Poor charging longevity. It will stop working before it's time.
A great idea - but I've had two of these now. They work great and eliminate all the clutter, but both remotes ended up with a problem on the charger. If you buy this, get an extended warranty!
Pros: It's great when it works! Cons: It will break down early and not worth the money
I have own this remote and many of its predecessors. They all start out great, but it is short lived. They break down. I have dealt with Logitech,at first they tell you its a charging base design flaw. They ship you a new one, then its a bad batch, etc. Eventually, they had to ship me a less model, because they said it was for sure more reliable, the 770. Guess what? I broke down after six months! Same causes. I'm done with them. I guess if you really want to have a great home theater system, your better off paying the money for a integrated remote, about 1000.00-1500.00
