The pro's and cons of Look (and Rossignol) bindings...

by RONinPC Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 16 '04
Pros: Excellent release/retention algorithm
Cons: Poorly designed cosmetics deteriorate rapidly
I have spent the past few seasons skiing nothing but Look Bindings, both the P12 and P14's. I have been thrilled with the retention abilities and elasticity of both the toe and heel (despite what appears to be a very narrow toe wing, the Look toe ...

Achilles heel
by repleo ,Jan 17 '06
Pros: Reasonably priced. Wider brake fits semi fat skis
Cons: Surgery and 6 weeks in a cast.
Bought these because the pivot heel was supposed to give better protection for forward twisting falls that are more likely to lead to achilles tendon injuries. Not a young man anymore so safety was the key factor. First day out out took a forward twisting fall on a green but icy goat path. Binding released but not until I tore my achilles tendon. Going for surgery later this week. Not a full rupture but will miss the whole season.
If you look at it one way you could say they failed to protect me but maybe it would have been worse if I didn't have the heel pivot.
Felt great on the Machete Sins right up until I took the dive. Probably too much ski for me but was persuaded to buy them by a guy who was buying up the whole stock at $99 a pair. Fun while it lasted.

Great Binding, Great Warranty
by culater2k4 ,Mar 18 '05
Pros: two tables, warranty
Cons: none that i could find
I've skied on the P12's two seasons now. I ski big mountain and park. I've never experienced any pre-release, but they always release when they are supposed to. I did manage to break the toe piece when landing a jump, which Look gladly replaced, no questions asked. While my bindings were in warranty, I skied on Salomon's 912ti (a comparable binding in Salomon's book). These bindings pre-released constantly, I felt very unsafe on the Salomons and was VERY happy to get my LOOKS back.

look p12 jib
by farmlivingfrme ,Feb 04 '04
Pros: look and perform great
Cons: They don't taste good.
I finally got sick of marker after I broke 3 pairs of them. I made the switch to the p12 jibs on my machetes and they are just incredible. They respond better than markers and hold better when they need to hold, and vice versa.
