Pros: Fun and free-spirited, with a significant upgrade in ear-candy. Cons: Not as thoughtful as her first two albums. But I guess that was the point...
So, here's the big question: Is Nelly Furtado's "Loose" a sellout move or not? Based on the first single, "Promiscuous", I already had it in my mind that this was going to be the Canadian Grammy winner's retreat from the sonic daring that ...

Pros: Some really great moments of creative spark Cons: Overproduction, lack of originality, just doesn't deliver.
When Nelly Furtado exploded onto the scene in 2000 she was one of the most distinctive new voices on the musical horizon. Blending different ethnic heritages, trip-hop beats and a diverse range of influences she really created a sound that was unique ...

Pros: It's really, really good Cons: Meh.
Before Nelly Furtados latest album Loose was even available in stores, folks were already screaming the big S word sellout. Its slightly boggling to think that a change in musical style makes you a sellout, especially as it ...

Pros: Timbaland's pristine production and a few moments of melodic spark. Cons: Little personality. It sounds much like everything else Timbaland has worked on.
After having heard and liked Nelly Furtados early singles such as Im Like A Bird and Powerless, I ended up completely forgetting about her until earlier this year, when I had my radio on (for once) and came across the new ...

Pros: Nelly and Timbaland make for natural collaborators. Cons: They need to get over how natural their collaboration is.
Lord knows I've tried - how I've tried - to like Nelly Furtado. Even to love her in that distinctly worshipful-but-not-quite-sexua
l
way that gay men tend to love their girly pop singers. In theory, this diminutive, highly ...

Pros: improved vocals, Timabaland, creativity, experimentation, balanced, unique, ballads Cons: stuff after songs, voice not perfect, could be construed as disingenuous
There are some times when I just hate critics. Oh, no, not you guys. Youre the exception. (grin) What I really meant to say is that I hate professional critics, an often smug array of musical snobs who seem to think that ...

Pros: It could have been worse. The Michael Jackson rip-offs are fun. Cons: There's little in terms of melodies. Furtado's merely an average singer.
(Disclaimer: Those looking for a brief description of the album will find what their looking for in the "Album Overview" section. The section titled "Detailed Track Discussion" is meant only for those who want to read detailed descriptions of ...

Pros: Nelly pulls off awesome dance numbers, moving ballads, and equally impressive midtempos. Cons: There are a few duds, but they go almost unnoticed.
You know, I've got to hand it to Nelly Furtado. Before, I felt bad for her. And I mean bad. This poor girl releases a 1999 single made for radio play (I'm Like a Bird), and subsequently releases an album void of anything radio friendly ...

Pros: Both fun and frothy yet mellow and solemn Cons: Forced instead of effortless at times; a bit generic
After Nelly Furtado’s debut album, Whoa, Nelly! experienced overdue breakout success, the world of pop music became her oyster. By sticking to her guns instead of conforming to the mainstream formula for success, audiences worldwide accepted and ...

Pros: The singles, most of the rest of the album is good. Cons: Mid-album slump, NyQuil ballad "In God's Hands"
I'd be lying if I told you I really paid attention to Nelly Furtado's career before Loose came out in 2006. Well I mean I've heard "I'm Like a Bird" before (they played it a bunch on the playlist at this one job I had where a bunch of middle-aged ...

Pros: the first six songs are a gorgeous introduction Cons: uneven track listing....manipulative towards the end
*** star rating No one rues the tragic death of Aaliyah more than Tim 'Timbaland' Mosely. Their collabarations paid off in a kind of glove and hand way that no amount of financial success can compensate for. Ever since then Tim has been spreading ...

Pros: Production, Nelly has some decent singing pipes, she can do a variety of styles Cons: Nelly still has a woody flow even when lite-rapping, IMO missing Parental Advisory sticker
About two and a half years ago [wow, really that long?], the Portuguese-Canadian singer superstar Nelly Furtado; the one that gave us the power smashing hit known as Turn off the Light, made something known as a sophomore slump (Folkore). While it ...

Pros: So much fun and upbeat Cons: Restrained voice sometimes kills the moment
Nelly Furtado, probably best known as the girl who sung the sweet "I'm Like a Bird," has had two albums before LOOSE. WHOA! NELLY was the one that got her a household name and "I'm Like a Bird" helped this cause tremendously. FOLKLORE wasn't too ...

Pros: Say It Right. Its a great record. Cons: Doesn't Flow that well. Some bad tracks and the UK bonus cuts suck.
As of November 2007 loose has been certified gold or platinum in 31 countries and has global sales of over 7,000,000. Wow does New Nelly sell. The main fact about this album is that new Nelly is working with super Producer Timbaland. Now you can see ...

loose is average at best on a good day
by danzoolo ,Feb 13 '07
Pros: promiscuous, showtime, and say it right Cons: sounds like nelly furtado made this because she was broke
sorry but i couldnt find the whole point in loose other than nelly furtado wants to make money really really bad. she used to be a folk-pop singer and put out a couple good albums but this one mostly sucks except for the three songs i put in pros. otherwise cheap dance knockoffs for the most part. timbaland is overrated, hes only an average producer. nelly furtado is also not that great of a singer and sounds really nasaly at times. also this album sounds like something someone would do on a debut not a 3rd album. nelly still hasnt found her "true" sound yet. even the two ending ballads that try to capture her last two cds just completely suck. she needs to erase her mind, and quit working with timbaland and work on folk-pop on her next disc. and her new song give it to me SUCKS.
