After years of hunting around for a powder that gives light to medium coverage that actually matches my skintone I've found it in MAC studio fix. I'm a lighter skinned african american woman and the undertones in my complexion are golden/yellow and it's nearly impossible to find makeup shades in drugstore brands that have the right undertones. I always wound up looking pale or ashy or pink :( Studio fix is the perfect powder period and the best thing about it is that for maximum coverage it can also be used wet. There's also a WIDE array of shades that are really true-to-life shades. DON'T use the sponge that comes with it. You'll wind up looking cakey because a little goes a long way. Use a brush instead and you'll get a natural incredibly even finish. This is definately my new staple.
