OK as starter
by crp0714 ,Jan 29 '06
Pros: Sound is decent. Price good after rebate. Cons: Cheap casing. Hard to read display
While this is an OK starter player, it is not a high quality product. The buttons as well as the casing is made of a cheap plastic. The cutouts for the buttons are not well aligned with the buttons and so it doesn't even look that great. I fear if it is ever dropped, that will be the end of it.
The display is really hard to see although it does help somewhat if you change the setting for the backlight color. The instructions for how to use the device are very poorly translated and leave out some very relevant information - such as how easy it is to plug it into your PC and simply transfer over files.
The sound is fairly good, but it helped a lot to get a decent pair of headphones to go with it. I paid $30 for the 256 after rebates. It was worth that, but would not have been worth the list price.

Remember this is inexpensive
by consumeristo ,May 27 '06
Pros: Compact enough, cheap, intuitive buttons Cons: Flaky, buttons, song playing doesnt work well except on a max battery.
- Dont expect much, $30- is the price of 2 CD's. Sound is at the lower end as with any inexpensive product.
- The buttons are intuitive and few.
- Installing the songs via USB is drag and drop.
- The player is flaky, doesn't always play the list, or shuts down after first song. This is a battery problem, So with a fresh battery it is ok.
Bought two of these for $30- each. A fresh battery is a must.
My feeling is that one AAA isnt really powerful to run it. Although I havent timed how long it lasts for.

Pros: Good price; many functions; Cons: Red only
For this price this player provides much more then you expect. Easy to select the tone and speed you want. Several languages. The voice recording is not so good but can be used. Neat, solid player. I am very happy it.
I Recommend.

Lousy Player
by rhianwyn ,Jul 04 '08
Pros: It's Red, that's cool. Battery 4 1/2 hours, not bad. Sound ok with good headphones. Cons: everything else...
Got this as a Christmas present. Could not make head nor tails of the instruction manual, the translation is horrid, and they leave out very important information, like the fact you can only have 99 songs per folder and 9 folder total. The problem there is that I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out HOW to switch between folders! The way they say in the manual does NOT work.
Put in the battery that it came with and it leaked battery acid all over the inside of the thing the first night.
After having it for only 1 week, the front silver around the play button fell off, and after the second week, the top glass of the display came out. I only wore it 5 times...and I am not rough on things.
Would never buy this product again. It plays, display is almost impossible to read, buttons are confusing, simply not a good buy...

Mach Speed Trio MP3 Player/voice recorder/USB drive (1GB)
by ironduck ,May 25 '06
Pros: USB drive
price Cons: Microsized display
Difficult controls
Glitchy response to controls
I paid 40$ for this toy through an online site and suggest you save your money and buy something else. Translation of the User's manual is anything but instructional or complete. I have been unable to locate a site to download update firmware for the player and the manual doesn't provide a web address. The display is very difficult to see due to it's size and how much info they've attempted to show. Controls are proportionally small and difficult to operate if you have normal sized adult fingers. On the plus side the sound quality is fair to good and if you can overcome the glitchiness of the controls and microsized display it isn't bad, and it can always be used as a USB jump drive.

Worked fine the first few times...
by hillarysme ,Nov 20 '05
Pros: When it worked, it worked fine. Was just $40 after rebate. Cons: Stopped working within a week.
The first three or four times I used this at the gym, it worked fine. However, after I downloaded some new songs into it, it started acting really strange. I could get to the main menu and even to view individual songs, but when I pressed play, I got menu settings in a foreign language -- I think Chinese. I tried connecting to my PC to upgrade the firmware, but was told by Windows (XP) that there was no guarantee the firmware wouldn't mess up my system, so I aborted the installation. Now when I turn on the Trio, I just see "starting...", but it doesn't go anywhere. I'm very disappointed. I had the Trio about a week when this started. I'm having a hard time locating customer service to help me. Buyer beware.
