Pros: Great location in Times Square and a good layout inside. Cons: Lines can be long.
I don't know why but I have always been attracted to wax museums. From the first one I ever visited in Boston to the cross country San Fransisco to the even further distant London, England, I have always enjoyed them. Maybe I have a touch of the macabre, ...
Pros: Madame Tussauds was fun. We had a blast posing with all the celebrities. Cons: Madame Tussaud's was very expensive, twice as much as most other museums in Manhattan.
New York City has something for everyone. Fancy restaurants, corner hot dog stands, Broadway, Off Broadway and museums of all sorts. My son and I went to NYC for the weekend so I could attend an Epinions focus group meeting. My son had never ...
Pros: I met them in the wax!!!!!!! Cons: None at all.
Recently me and my boyfriend took a trip into Good ol' New York. We were planning on going to the Met. Instead though while site seeing, we came across Tussaud's New York Wax Museum. Outside we were greeted by Whoopie Goldberg dressed in a santa claus ...
Pros: A fun & unique experience, easy to find! Cons: The wax figures are rotated around to other museums.
So far, I've taken 8 road trips to New York since '99 with my sister and one of my best friends and for each visit I try to find fun activities for us to do. This time I settled on Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum in Times Square on 3/27/04. The first ...
Pros: Very centrally located and a blast to visit! Cons: It is a bit expensive
f you are into celebrities and famous people from the past and the present, this is a great place to visit. You get to see over a hundred stars here. Well, you can see them all you want and they look real enough, but they are actually made of wax!! It is ...
Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum - what a treat! by Adanna ,Mar 07 '06
Pros: Interesting and fun to see all the wax figures. Cons: A bit pricey.
My husband and I went to this museum during a trip to NYC in June 2005. It wasn't on our original trip agenda, but after passing it several times, we decided to go inside and check it out. It wasn't very crowded since it was close to closing time, so we had no line to stand in.
We had a good time checking out all the wax figures, looking closely to how they were made. They seem as if they will come to life at any moment! There are famous people from music and film, presidents, czars, inventors, world leaders, religious leaders, etc.
Although the museum is a bit pricey, we were glad we decided to stop in. Bring your camera and get your picture taken with someone famous from the past of present!

Pros: Kills 2 hours in Times Square if you have $100 to burn. Cons: Be prepared with several extra twenty dollar bills to hand over.
I'm a New Yorker. My mother took my two girls (7 and 13) to the museum yesterday. I gave them more than enough cash to get in, according to the site. When they bought their tickets they were charged quite a bit more and the total was more than I gave them. The receipt is a puzzle to me, since none of the figures match anything, so I plan to go down and find out why. So that was a bad start.
Anyway, I didn't go, but here are their three reviews:
7 year old: "Fun"
13 year old: "OK, but a rip off. What was the deal with the tickets?"
Overpriced and Boring...Don't Bother! by glennam ,Jul 27 '08
Pros: I got robbed for over $150, but at least they didn't beat me up too! Cons: Everything about it.
This place was god-awful expensive, poorly laid out and a waste of time. I went with my wife, six year old daughter and one year old son.
First of all there aren't that many wax figures to see for the $100+ we spent to get in. In fact, one whole floor is basically a gift shop. Some of the figures looked pretty real but a lot of them didn't look like the person at all.
The elevators were poorly laid out and the people working there weren't much help. Don't take a stroller in by the way! The halls are tight and the space for figures becomes crowded quick and you can hardly get around.
The bathrooms were disgustingly filthy!
The food was expensive and lousy.
The most redeeming part was a stage set up like American Idol where my daughter was able to sing to a karaoke machine.
Avoid this place like the plague!
