Pros: Great for making smoothies, protein drinks, and dips. Cons: Will probably wear out sooner when doing heavy duty prep like chopping and grinding.

Pros: convenience and footprint space on counter Cons: durability and value for breaking down so quickly

Pros: Fast, easy cleanup. Cons: Also fast to burn out.

Pros: Great for fruit smoothies and iced coffees and as coffee grinder Cons: not good for chopping vegetables- unless you want a paste.

Pros: great for smoothies and grinding spices and coffee beans - until it broke. Cons: parts are flimsy and crack and break easily, rubber seals get eaten by the blade

If blade stops in Lock On Mode by jedward2000 ,Mar 20 '07
Pros: It is easy to use, and when it works, it works like a charm. Cons: When blade stops in LOCK ON mode there's no instructions on what to do.
I thought this was a great product until it stopped in the LOCK ON mode... it just froze up and will not work. I was making chocolate pudding (the instant kind) and it just froze. I followed the instructions on the side of the blender and unplugged it, but the unit would not unlock nor would it work again. I am not sure if I should just throw it away or keep trying to get it to work.
Up until now, it was a wonderful product... now I am not sure.
Pros: none Cons: juicer didn't work, chopper made food mushy
It mushed up the food rather than chopping it. I tried guacamole and salsa which it just made mushy. I mainly bought it for the juicer feature, which I agree with one of the other reviews, it was a joke. I returned for a refund. It didn't work for me anything like the informercial showed it did.
Pros: mixing cups, small size. Cons: motor isn't powerful enough, consistancy of end product is poor.
I received this as a Christmas gift last year. I saw it on Tv and thought it would be great for me.
Small profile, touted to grind, chop, mix, etc.
Came with alot of mixing cups, a few chopping blades, mixing blades, etc, as well as storage tops, and a juicing setup.
I was excited to use it, but unfortunately, the motor is really disappointing, it doesn't chop that well, not consistant, gets gummed up, etc. Tried to make smoothies, that worked out ok. I did try ice, not good. The motor even starts to smell a little like it could burn up with anything substantial. I never tried the juicer portion of it.
I do like the mixing cups though, I use them to microwave and store in and they are dishwasher safe.
Other than that, I would say, It's not worth the money. Your better off getting the full size blender and a food processer.
Pros: Compact size, promising capabilities Cons: Poor quality, cheaply made
We bought the Magic Bullet because we were impressed with the infomercial and needed a mini-blender for mixing our baby's formula. We never used it for anything other than that and it stopped working after about a month. It was not cheap so this was very disappointing!
Don't buy this product unless you have money to waste by tekeela ,Feb 07 '07
Pros: sleek design. Cons: too many parts to store away.
I was extremely disappointed in the magic bullet. I've been wanting it for so long. I finally got it this Christmas as a gift. I tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago. Tried to make hummus, but it was too thick and would not process the chick peas properly. I would have had to use too much oil and it then would not be healthy. I tried to make apple juice and was very disappointed. I can't believe they actually claim it's a juicer. All it did was make a big mess.
Pros: Pretty. That is the only pro Cons: Small. Motor burns up if used for too many seconds.
When I saw the infomercial I thought this machine could possibly be versatile and serve a lot of purposes in my kitchen. The first one didn't work. I returned it. The second one operated poorly. When I called customer service to ask for advice some lady wanted to know what I wanted. The only suggestion she would give me was to return it. The customer service was not business or professionally oriented. The best favor I have ever done for myself was returning this piece of junk.
Pros: Compact, great chopping power, does what it advertises. Cons: Motor will overheat if used for longer than a minute.
The magic bullet does exactly what it says it does. I love it for the fact I do not have a lot of kitchen counter space, and instead of having a big bulky blender, I just use my magic bullet.
Today I used it to make chicken salad and a mixed drink (pina colada) since today was so hot! It did the job well. I also like all the attachments and the recipe book that comes with it. I can't wait to make some homemade salsa!
The great thing about this is that you can make you own homemade recipes and not worry about all the hidden salt, sugars, etc. that are in store bought products.
Pros: You can wash the food out of it by running it under water. Cons: Unscrews during use.
Wastes food, money, and time.
I have tried my Magic Bullet Express many times. Every time it has leaked to the point that whatever is in there winds up in the machine and on the counter and floor.
I know I am attaching the lid correctly and tightly. I have checked that every time after the first flood (orange juice and organic raspberries). I've even tried it with just water, shaking the heck out of the cup with the blades screwed on. It didn't leak a drop until I attached it to the base. Then, the flood.
I have checked the gasket, and it has always been in place. Plus, it is not simply that the cup leaks, but the blades actually come completely unscrewed from the cup during use.
Thankfully, Bed, Bath & Beyond is happy to refund my purchase price. (I'm just out the food, of course.)
Off to go clean up the last stick messy from the Magic Mess Maker!
Just a little pulse is all it takes by justlisa ,Dec 10 '06
Pros: Dices veggies in seconds. Excellent for mixing hard to stir ingredients. Cons: A little too easy to overdo it and end up with pulverized goo.
I received my Magic Bullet as a gift this summer and it's taken quite a beating. My teenage son uses it to make omelets. I use it to chop veggies and blend up ingredients for things such as cheeseballs.
It does what it's supposed to do if you use it as directed. That part can be tricky as it's easy to push it down and slide it under the groove so that it doesn't stop when you let up on it. Just a second too much can turn your vegetables into soup stock.
I've read other mentions of the plastic gears breaking easily. I've not had this problem but I can see how it could happen. I've warned my son about getting it stuck on so he's got a hair trigger reaction and often pulls it off the base unit a little too quickly. When this happens I can hear the gears gnashing and it sounds as if it will break.
It's small size makes for easy storage. It really does work well if you are careful with it. Worth the money if you don't have counter space for a full sized blender to sit out.
Another One of Those TV Miracles by bostonbarney ,Feb 05 '07
Pros: None. Cons: See Above.
...that are a bust in real life. What a waste of $60. I'm one more try away from tossing the damn thing. I can't believe there isn't SOMETHING that it does that would make me feel better for having spent money on it. If you're reading this: SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Your food processor and blender will do just fine. All this does is take up space.
Low maintenance, works great! by thermodynamic ,Feb 26 '07
Pros: Compact, nimble, surprisingly durable. Cons: Upfront cost, but one gets what one pays for.
I've been using this almost daily to make quick chocolate protein shakes or coffee cappuccino drinks. It's lasted well over a year now and works great. The array of drink and blender containers are perfect for what I need.
Quite a novel gadget... especially for an infomercial gadget. :)
Pros: Occupies a very small footprint and nice looking Cons: It breaks and breaks and breaks.
I have had my Magic Bullet for less than a year and have already had to have two replacements sent to me. Just last night -- not to my surprise -- the third unit broke, so I will be calling Homeland Housewares for another unit this afternoon. They will replace the broken units for up to a year. After that, I'm out of luck.
The only thing I use it for is to grind pepper (a couple of times tops for each unit) and to chop garlic for one of my favorite meals (about 4 to 6 times a month). That's it. Nothing else. And yet the unit can't hold up to that amount of usage.
I went to HSN.com and read the customer reviews and learned that many people are having the same problem. You can read about them on the HSN website.
Unless you are fond of parting with your hard-earned money, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
I received a Magic Bullet Blender for Christmas and I was amazed with the quality. What impressed me is how easy it is to use. You just simply fill the container / cup with whatever you want blended, screw on the blade, place the container into the blender, and push it down and in seconds you have created a blended new products. Its great for making frozen beverages or other blended foods such as salsa. The advertisements exaggerate a bit, but it is a fairly fast process and you do use it practically every day! The set comes with 6 containers, 2 Blades and some extra accessories. The Magic Bullet is also very small, I don't mind leaving it out on my cupboard each day. Its also fairly powerful. For such a great price the Magic Bullet is a great thing to have.
Pros: Great little on the counter, always ready tool. Cons: well let me see....none.
I love it, I had it for over a year and use it mainly for quickie stuff, the heavy duty stuff I leave for the big blender of course, I made smoothies. guacamole, salsa, omelets, and tons of other stuff, but a couple of days ago I broke it, I did not secure the blender blade and it leaked inside and damage the motor, so I ordered a new one and can't wait to get it, there are no cons only pro's especially when you have kids, my daughter she is 9 blends her own smoothies and shakes she loves it as do I.
Pros: It takes up very little space on counter and clean up is a snap. Cons: None for us.
I bought the Magic Bullet because I have a 9 year old daughter who loves to make shakes and smoothies and I hated to drag out the blender to make a 1 serving shake. I knew that making shakes/smoothies would be the main purpose of the Magic Bullet for us and I got it for a good price at Linens-N-Things.
I'm very pleased with our purchase and we continue to use the Magic Bullet at least a couple of times a week. The Magic Bullet actually does a better job of chopping up the ice than our blender. In addition to lots of shakes and smoothies we have also made scrambled eggs and pancake batter. I'm looking forward to trying some fun frozen drinks in the summer.
Pros: easy to use, easy to clean, very useful Cons: very loud, could use a lower speed
I absolutely love my magic bullet. There are limitations to what you can make with it because it is a very high speed and high impact processor. Once you've realized this, you can do SO much with it. I always have mine on my counter. I use it for guacamole, soups, mixed drinks, sauces, and more!!!
Pros: small easy to store, color rings on glasses. Cons: sort of loud, but it works great!
This is the best SMALL blender that I have ever used. I have one at home and one at work. My grand kids want a smoothie every night at bed time and this is the one I choose with out fail because its quick and it does the ice great!
Have A Magic Bullet Birthday! by marissa911 ,Dec 08 '06
Pros: A wonderful gift for anyone! Cons: none at all!
It really does work like magic! I absolutely love it. Out of all the blenders I have used, this one is my favorite. So easy to clean and use, I would definitely recommend this product to a friend.
Every Day I'm As Thrilled With It As When I First Got It by sierrasunshine ,May 01 '07
Pros: Compact, efficient, quick and powerful. Cons: Actually, I can't think of any....
I love my Magic Bullet and highly, highly recommend it. I use it for hummus, fruit smoothies, egg mixtures. The compact size and power is what makes this such a great product. Great for travel!!
BTW, I have owned mine for 5 mos and use it just about every day---so it's tried and true.
Pros: great for pureed foods Cons: bad for anything else
I got this to make homemade baby food and for that it is perfect, until you try to use it for anything other than that.. unless you also like to eat pureed mush.
The rubber that connects to the plastic is all warped from daily use, the rubber stoppers on the bottom of the device come out all the time (doesn't affect the useability of it just that it is annoying).
a big problem (and why it probably mushes up everything) is that you put something in it and begin chopping, well it chopps 1/2 but not all so you are trying to get it all chopped up and by that time the stuff that chopped to begin with is now liquified.
Awful. . .Awful. . .Ripoff by troysmother ,Nov 24 '06
Pros: Easy to clean, and clever small blending cups for little jobs. Cons: Can't last because plastic teeth join the motorized unit to the chopping piece.
My husband succumbed to the infomercial, and actually bought two (one for son away at college.) As everyone said, it turns the veggies to frothy mush. But the worst part is that it is made of plastic junk, and breaks all too soon. It's not worth it to replace the base with another piece of junk. Just don't waste your money. But probably you are here because yours has already broken.
Pros: Does what it says Cons: Juicer isn't all that great
I don't usually get sucked into infomercials but this one intrigued me. Any product that could help me cook quicker was something I was interested in. It's easy and convenient.
Wow this thing is wonderful! What a great thing to have in the kitchen! by JetersGirl ,Jan 19 '07
Pros: Makes chopping easier, easy recipes for a quick snack or meal, reasonably priced. Cons: You sometimes have to modify the recipes to get them to come out good.
The magic bullet, what used to be available only on tv offers is now being sold in stores like Bed Bath and Beyond and Boscovs.
They are now having 2 for 99.00 specials on tv, this is how I received mine.
You get the magic bullet machine, 2 cups, 1 large, 1 small. The bullet blender, 2 bottoms, 1 with a straight blade, one with a cross blade, 4 mugs for frozen drinks, each with a different color ring on the top so you don't get them mixed up (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow). Also included is a couple books with 10 lots of 10 minute recipes.
Some of the recipes include:
Guacamole
Chocolate Mousse
Chicken Quesadillas
Salsa
Salad Dressings and much more
You can also grind coffee beans, chop peppers and onions, tomatoes, almost if not everything!
I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend it.
Pros: Looks good. Ergonomic, lots of gadgets and space efficient. Cons: It lasted a whole seven days. Piece of a fancy shined crap.
You pay for the looks and the concept. Poorly designed, we bought it and it last a whole week. I can't believed I didn't read reviews on this piece of junk. The spinning assembly wears out after 7 times using it. We are currently trying to contact the company to see what they will do. I just want my money back.
Pros: Salesmen were eager to make a sale. Cons: Good luck trying to work with the warranty department -- which you probably will.
I purchased this Magic Bullet for my wife's birthday. Never used it got misplaced in the back of the closet. We found it over a year later and decided to give it a try for Thanksgiving. The base broke within 2 seconds of use on the first time. Everything is still new (unused). I called Magic Bullet Warranty and they were unwilling to help me. They only offered to sell me another one. Did they honestly think I would want to buy another one after my previous one worked for less than 2 seconds? What a scam!
Pros: fast, fun, and easy to use Cons: non-stacking cups
I really like it! My kids like it! My husband likes it! We use it for protein shakes, smoothies, margaritas, baby food, grinding coffee, etc, etc. It's great! Easy to clean; cups and blades are dishwasher safe. Cups are non-staining too! Easy to use. My kids get a kick out of starting it for their fruit smoothies. I haven't figured out the salsa technique as seen on TV and it doesn't grate cheese as seen on TV. It makes a cheese paste. I was able to replace my big blender and coffee grinder with the compact bullet. If I had a bigger budget, I'd get one for friends and family for Christmas!
Pros: It works well when it isn't broken Cons: Breaks easily and the manufacturer will not stand behind its product.
This is an excellent product when it isn't broken. We had this item for 4 weeks when a plastic piece broke on the base unit and rendered the mixer useless. Customer service was not helpful and will not supply us with a replacement piece...only offering to sell us another base unit for $30 plus $10 shipping. I would only purchase this product if you plan on buying 10 or 12 per year to replace each broken one.
Pros: ease of clean-up, versatile Cons: doesn't always chop completely
I have had my magic bullet for almost two years, and it has not broken. It works well for small jobs where there is enough liquid in the ingredients. It does not blend smoothies if you have larger frozen fruit well or chop onions well. It's nice that it's all dishwasher safe, but the gasket is a little tricky to take off to wash, but if you don't, you'll find gunk in it. I have used it to steam and then blend baby food, and that's very convenient. Note, if you have trouble putting the gasket on, turn the gasket around, and it will go on easily. Oops, it took me awhile to figure that out.
The title of my review is because most things take longer than 10 sec. to blend, and of course the prep is a lot longer.
I tried to chop onions and celery for stuffing and it liquified them. By the time the pieces at the top of the container made it to the bottom, I had liquid. When I would press down on the container, it would automatically lock.
It may have better uses, but I returned it and got my money back. I'll chop veggies the old fashioned way.
Magic bullet replacement parts - a real problem by lguiho ,Sep 16 '07
Pros: Can be convenient when in a rush to do something quickly. Cons: Can't get parts to fix it when you need it.
Hello
I called the Magic bullet customer service to buy gaskets (o-rings)for the blender... these get caught in the blades an get cut up and need to be replaced. Only 4 come with the blender.
The only way you can order the o-rings is by providing proof of purchase (a receipt) or by taking pictures (front, back, side)view of the machine and of the 10 second recipe book to prove you have the Magic Bullet brand name machine.
If not, they won't sell you what you need for your machine.
I find this outrageous... when I need a part for something I usually need to give the model number and I can order whatever I need to fix the item.
In this case, Magic bullet company needs to see proof that you indeed have one of their machines to sell you what you need to fix it...
My advice: don't buy one unless you keep your box, your recipe book, receipt at hand for many years... if not, you simply have to get rid of it because you won't be able to get a part for it.
Pros: It's a great shake maker when it works. Cons: Doesn't work longer enough
I purchased a magic bullet set from Bed Bath and Beyond the last week in June. Now it is 5 weeks later and it has stopped working at all. The motor won't turn on.The Company won't honor the warranty. Tonight I went to Walmart and purchased another one and this one won;t turn on at all. I'm in the North Carolina mountains and Walmart is a tough 27 mile trip but tomorrow I will return the second Magic Bullet. I give up!
magic bullet,don't buy it. by netbat66 ,Nov 09 '05
Pros: fine for chopping vegitables like carrots, cellery. blends, wips liquids for shakes and smoothies Cons: turns onions, lettuce to mush.
cost more to fix then buy.
i bought the magic bullet 6 months ago. the plastic cross blade broke. the company will not sell you the $5.00 part that can be easily unscrewed from the motor for replacement.
they will however sell you a replacement power base for $29.99 plus $9.99 shipping! this does not include the cost to send back the broken power base. total cost: about $50. the cost of a new blender with all of the attachments that come with it. totle rip off for something that did not need to be replaced.
Pros: Size, convenience, ease of cleaning. Cons: Could be more powerful, chunky blending.
I bought this one, my first "As Seen on TV" thing ever. It was great for fluffing up eggs, but as a smoothie maker, it didn't do so well. It simply didn't have the power. It was extremely easy to clean. I popped the cups in the dishwasher on the top rack. The rest of it was sponge clean. A lot of what I tried to chop or blend came out chunky. Personally, I needed a stronger motor, so bought another machine with higher wattage at a local store. I can't not recommend it because for some people, it would do perfectly. I never tried mixed drinks, but did try to make a smoothie, and it came out, as noted above, chunky, without the ice being crushed properly. I did not try the juicer attachment, so cannot comment on that.
Great for Smoothies and Eggs maybe not much else by captmiddy ,Jun 09 '07
Pros: Easy to clean, small space requirements, individual sized smoothies Cons: Not the best at mixing things, and purees everything since it has one speed FAST!
So it was a toss up, I could keep using the big blender for smoothies for two or I could get one of these things. The advantage to the bullet was we didn't have to have the same smoothie. There isn't much my wife and I disagree on these days but ingredients in food is certainly one of them. So this was a good match for us. So far it has been a great little product, we have made a few dozen smoothies with it, no problem so far, but it is clear that this isn't the best blender in the world. It definitely has its flaws, such as not getting all the food ground up, and the like. I have also used it to make my wife eggs which it is great at. Completely evenly mixed eggs are not easy to make, but this make it very easy. Omelets are easy to make with this machine.
Like others have said though, if you are looking for a basic food processor to make things like salsa or the like, this probably isn't a good match. Unless you are like me and don't like your salsa chunky ;-).
Best thing in the world! by dreame3651 ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: Makes everything! works great! Cons: none at all!
I am so happy I bought this item. I love it. It works wonderfully. It chops, grates, everything the infomercial said. I was suprized at how well it did these things as most of the time infomercials are only designed to sell, and thier products are not as good as they say. This one however hit the nail on the wood. It works very well. I use it to make ice blended cappicino and smoothies every morning. It was worth the price.
nothing to get worked up about & dime a dozen by danzoolo ,Mar 24 '07
Pros: good for beverages Cons: a blender does just as well if not better
magic bullet just doesn't do anything for me. it just doesn't move me. the magic bullet is like the mike jones of kitchen appliances. big mouth but not saying too much. the magic bullet thinks its amazing when it doesnt do anything great. its aight for beverages but other appliances do better than it. for example grinding coffee, it works ok with the bullet but does better with a coffee grinder and so on. the blender doesnt move me because i already have one. the juicer function is a joke for the most part. and these things are what $100? i can get a cheap blender for $20 that works just as fine because the magic bullet is dime a dozen--does well on beverages but nothing else. not to mention it sets on fire after a minute of use.
Very convenient, specially for salsa lover! by joshille ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: Makes dips and cold ice drinks in minutes! Cons: Instead of chopped, It's smushed.
I bought the Magic Bullet for my husband to make smoothies and stuffs. Turns out I use it more than he does! I can make salsa in minutes! Just cut the onion in 4, same with the tomato, put a little cilantro, garlic and salt...process it a few times and it's done! We also use it for making Icee for the kids and Ice Mochas. I wouldn't recommend it for chopping though. It will look like it's smushed more than it is chopped. But overall, we enjoy this Magic Bullet!
The cross blade rubber fitting went blunt in one use by garimagupta ,Mar 09 '07
Pros: Fast
Easy to Clean
Portable Cons: Very noisy
No mention of worldwide outlets.
Hi,
In just 2 uses to cross blade to make smoothies, I noticed that rubber fitting used to lock the blade with the power base went blunt. Shocked I was and not knowing what to do ,i noticed further that rubber fitting was somewhat churned with the high speed motor.
Does some one faced the similar problem like this before...
Pros: The Magic Bullet is easy to clean and easy to use. Cons: It always leaves chunks of ice, apple or whatever.
This Magic Bullet looks so tempting on the infomercial. They obviously have a souped up version because mine does not have the same power. It's not a terrible product, but it's not worth the money. I bought it because I'm single and trying to improve my diet. However, this product does not work well. It took me about an hour to grind a loaf of homemade bread into bread crumbs. I had to chop the bread into small cubes and still the Magic Bullet would leave one or two pieces of rounded bread chunks. It also didn't completely blend the ice cubes when I attempted to make a smoothie. The only thing I made successfully is chocolate mousse.
The Magic Bullet is so loud, it hurts my ears.
Today I tried to make chicken salad. The chicken turned to paste and the apple and onion did not get mixed in completely, even after tapping it down to the blades. I do not recommend this product because it does not work as advertised. Not even close.
Pros: Good idea Cons: bad engineering. Not real durable!
I got the Magic Bullet only a month ago, but only been using it for the last 2 weeks. Also, I have only been making smoothies with it. That's it! It just broke tonight. The plastic gearing in the base unit shredded! It was either a design flaw or cheap materials.
Pros: Fun to use. Good for drinks, eggs, a few other things. Cons: Plastic parts break easily and mysteriously. NONE to LOUSY customer service.
I received my Magic Bullet as a Christmas gift. We enjoy using it for eggs, mocha lattes (using a mix, milk, and ice. Did a surprisingly good job grinding coffee beans. I've made pesto and alfredo sauces successfully.
The problem--the black part of the cross blade cracked. I had been in contact before, and again about this, with Homeland Housewares, the "Official" MB people. The only thing they have to say is that they have no record of my purchasing it from them. They are not help at all. I was able to get a new crossblade, large cup, and lids from e-bay. They arrived yesterday. Tonight, I found that the plastic on the flat blade is also cracked, in the same shape and place as the crossblade.
Another problem--the plastic tabs on the drink mugs do not fit into the slots on the base, so they are useless to mix drinks in.
Be careful of the recipes in their book--I had a major overflow while making a coffee drink.
If this was purchased on e-bay, perhaps they are factory defects. I'll be interested to see how long my replacement crossblade lasts.
Plastic gear on base unit BREAKS by w-k- ,Nov 09 '05
Pros: It's small and convenient for processing single serving Drinks. Cons: Irreplaceable plastic parts that break, leaving you with all those added accessories useless.
If you read below you'll see that at least two other people experienced the same problem my family had with this unit. There is a plastic gear on the top of the base unit that transfers power from the motor unit to the cutting blades. It can and does shatter into pieces. Customer service can not or will not offer a replacement gear and instead they offer to sell you a new base unit for $30.00 plus $10.00 Shipping. This unit is over priced, breaks easily, and emits a burning smell if you run it continuously for over 30 seconds. Just to let you know, this unit was adult operated and never abused. The gear broke while mixing a protein shake (milk and powder) I wasn't grinding apples or crushing ice like they claim is possible with this unit.
Made my life a lot easier by daberlen80 ,Jul 17 '05
Pros: Easy to clean! Cons: Sometimes gets messy during use.
I'm usually leary of believing infomercials, but I really loved this one. I considered doing the 2-for-1 deal with the juicer and full size blender attachments, but couldn't spend the $100 on it. I read up on it and found that the full size blender and the juicer didn't seem to work well anyway, so I didn't really need them. I saw it at Wal-Mart for $50 and decided to just go for it.
I use this nearly every day! I make milk shakes, smoothies, and baby food all the time. I've had it a couple months and use it all the time, and today was the first day that it has ever overheated. I was blending pot roast in it and I think I just overdid it. It's back to working just as good as new now, though.
It's quick, takes no time to clean, and doesn't take up much space on my countertop. I love this thing!
Magic Bullet High Speed Blender - Good and Not So Good by susiecc ,Jan 30 '06
Pros: Super easy to use Cons: Does not blend chunky ingredients well
Even though I say Not So Good about the Magic Bullet, I still like using it. It makes fantastic frozen drinks, easily crushing ice cubes into a snow-cone type consistency. It is also great for making small portion packaged puddings or mousse. Just dump everything into one of the plastic mugs, blend, chill, eat. Perfect.
The one thing I don't like about the Bullet is that it does not mix larger quantities well (i.e. fill the cup partially with chunky ingredients like tomato and onion). For example, making guacamole. The Bullet will leave the bottom portion pureed pretty well, but the top ingredients still chunky. You have to take and mix it with a spoon or fork to get the chunky stuff toward the blade edge, then blend again.
The magic bullet is easy to clean and does not take up much counter space. You do have to be careful to screw the blade on tightly before you blend or you'll have leakage since you have to flip the cup over to blend.
Even with the issues, it is still a nice little appliance that I would buy again.
Cheaply made and what a customer service nightmare when trying to return. Cost almost as much to get a refund as it was to purchase! Maybe I should have just kept it! Buyer beware!!!
More like Magic Plastic Chips... by cyberglobe ,Jul 22 '06
Pros: handy and fast but... Cons: Plastic in food, Blades Ceases, plastic taste after microwaving.
If you enjoy eating plastic, this machine is for you.
This product could have been good but the problem with the whole system is that it is made with cheap plastic and looks like it was molded by a child.
First, the issue I had was that the blades ended up touching the plastic and chopping it up with the food I was preparing. The company could have made sure there was plenty of sidewall room for the product.
Second, The blades ceased up after 3 uses and ended causing the motor to smoke.
Third, I would recommend them using Glass instead of Plastic as when you microwave the product, the plastic taste does not come in your food.
I would not recommend this product until they fix the above problems with this product.
Pros: Does it all! Cons: Wish it had more cups and larger cups.
This thing is GREAT! Everyone is saying that it pulverizes things, but in the handbook, it clearly states that you have to "pulse" the container - not hold it down. You can gauge the level of "chunkiness" (not sure if that is a word.....) and go from there.
All this product is is an expensive smoothie maker because that's all it's good for. by foxylexncarmy ,Aug 26 '06
Pros: Well, it's powerful Cons: ...so powerful that it doesn't chop, it LIQUIFIES - yuck.
I have had zero luck with this. The first thing I tried making (looked easy enough) was some salsa. I followed the recipe to the letter, and pulsed it as told to, and what I ended up with was a foamy looking cupfull of liquified slop. Right down the garbage disposal. You can't use this to chop vegetables, the water content in them leaves you with a soupy mess. I'd like to know how they made real looking salsa in the infomercial, the veggies they used must have been plastic.
If you want to make something that is SUPPOSED to be liquified (like smoothies), then it's fine.
Pros: Looks Good, Friends Love It Cons: It NEVER Worked
I bought this product at Target for $58 to make baby food. All of my friends with babies swear by it. Well, guess what, I read the instruction book, got the stuff washed, put in my ingredients and when I pushed it on, nothing happened! I bought a dud....I heard something rattling around inside the motor part, so I am guessing something happened in shipping. Funny thing was, there were two of them at Target and the other box looked like it had been returned so I bought this one! I can't imagine how mad I would be if I had purchased it over the phone and it was shipped. I might end up just getting my money back...
Pros: sauce or dressing mix well Cons: pulps things to a mash
After watching the infomercial I thought 'I have got to buy this product'. It arrived, I tried it and it now gathers dust on the shelf.
It is a complete waste of time bar everything except mixing sauces (and how often does one do that!). Just buy yourself a decent food processor and forget this.
Pros: quick and easy to use and quick and easy to clean! Cons: Size of measurements
The Magic bullet is everything they say and even easier then that!!! I received my as a gift, but would buy more for gifts to give to friend and family. It is the one gadget that no kitchen should be without!
They make it looks so easy by karenlgilbert ,Jun 25 '06
Pros: Comes with some good recipes. Cons: Cost more than a conventional blender but does about the same amount of work.
I am not too thrilled with mine. I spend a lot of time shaking and blending, shaking and blending. My ingredients seems to get all clumped up. I truly feel that it is as good as any other conventional mixer/blender.
I have done everything in a conventional mixer/blender that I have done in the Magic Bullet.
Poor quality construction by kitcheneer ,Jul 29 '06
Pros: Has small cups for grinding small amounts more effectively than a typical food processor. Cons: Poor quality materials. Broke in a couple weeks.
It worked OK as long as it lasted, which was a couple weeks. The plastic is poor quality, and the tabs on the blending cups broke. These tabs act to depress the power button and lock the cup in place. I worked around it, until the gear mechanism broke and the blades wouldn't spin. Finally threw it out. Don't even think about service.
Pros: Simple, Easy to Clean! 2 most important things in my book. Cons: Plastic. Cannot seem to buy items separately
I have had my Bullet for a little over a month now. I am very pleased with it. It is small and simple. Easy to clean! Quick working. I use mine mostly for smoothies and protein drinks for my husband and myself. Add your solid ingredient's first, then cover with liquid, start your machine and walla! behold! Your beverage is ready. Already in a drink cup, no pouring. Rinse the blade, the cups rinse easily too! I am glad I bought the Magic Bullet and would recommend it to others.
Pros: works great for the first month... Cons: Made very poorly and will not last a year
Saw all the ads and demos so I bought one...
Worked great at first but the mechanism that turns the blender is made of a cheap rubber that wears away. After using this for 6 months it suddenly just fell apart.
I could not get parts for this or my money back...
Last week I bought $19.95 blender and a $9.95 and these do the same jobs as the Bullet
Save your money and don't buy this over-hyped disposable piece kitchenware!!!
Magic Bullet Food Processor, it the Magic by zipporah1703 ,Mar 14 '07
Pros: There is not time to figure out the pros Cons: nor........the cons
I have at least 3 processors. Nothing is as convenient and hands on as this product. I am almost lost without this this Magic. I was so sceptical to buy it, you have to have it to believe it. Thank you so much for this great product. It saves me so much time and it cleans so well.
Great, if 3 months of smoothies is considered great. by aaron_gourley ,May 16 '06
Pros: Very powerful. Grinds frozen fruit and ice cubes with ease. Good concept. Cons: Poor design, blade turning mechanism too frail.
The Magic Bullet was received in the home with great acclaim and expectation. At first, it performed outstandingly. It made delicious smoothies and liquid mashed potatoes. After about 3 months, key parts started to wear rapidly (plastic piece in the base that turns the blade, and rubber piece attached to the blade).
Quit working after about 2 months by sandman76 ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Worked great initially. Cons: Quit working after 2 months and no customer support.
We really liked using the Magic Bullet. It did a great job and performed as advertised. However, it completely quit working after about 2 months and I'm still trying to get the company to respond and get it repaired. I'm really not happy with the customer service. It is really non-existent. I'm about ready to throw my $65 into the garbage.
my favorite tool in my kitchen by mami10152006 ,Apr 19 '07
Pros: i love how it cleans up fast and its so easy to us. Cons: i have none it does the job for me
I am a mother and i like to make my daughter breakfast, lunch, and dinner i make her carrots, peas, green beans baby food and every time she loves it if it wasn't for the magic bullet i would be spending my money out there for baby food that i can make myself and its so fast and easy to make that i can always feed her on time and i don't have much to clean. she loves when i make her strawberry smoothies i would not give this up for nothing and am sure my daughter wont ether.
BEWARE Fails after warranty expires by angejask ,Sep 12 '07
Pros: Fast, great for milkshakes Cons: poor workmanship and no customer service support
I agree, the Bullet was great until it hit 18 months "old." At that point the chopper blade began to shred every time it was used and the plug had to be pulled to stop the system. Today, it not only continue to shred the bottom of the blade (where it screws in) but, the blade locked onto the base.
Worse yet, customer service wouldn't help because the system was a gift and I didn't have the receipt (two yrs later to the day!). They offered no help in removing the cup except to take pictures so they could authenticate that it was theirs.
So - now I'm stuck w/a bullet that has 1/2 chopped zuccini in the cup that won't come off.
Pros: Easy to use, Easy to clean, Great for simple/quick jobs Cons: Does not work well for for multiple-ingredient recipes
I got this as a baby shower gift, and was told that many moms use it to make homemade baby food. Well, I use it for that and a lot more! It does make it easy to puree food for my 8-month old, and I also use it for whipped cream, blended drinks, shredding cheese, making guacamole, etc. I got rid of my old blender, because this does everything I want and is much easier to use and clean. Except for the base, I have washed everything in the dishwasher with no problems - the base is easy to wipe down. It is definitely a simple tool - if you want something that will smoothly blend lots of ingredients, you will probably be disappointed. But if you are looking for something for quick, simple blending jobs than you will love the Magic Bullet.
This company will eventually lose customers unless they change. by wiredrose ,Jan 31 '06
Pros: Space saving and most parts are dishwasher safe Cons: The issue of breaking parts and company policy on replacement.
Loved for 1 year, then the plastic part on the base broke (as described in other reviews.) The company is apparently too greedy or unable to offer simple plastic replacement parts, and forces consumers to purchase an entire replacement base for a high % of the original purchase price.
Company needs to re-engineer the parts that keep breaking and offer quality individual replacement parts at a reasonable price; this would have made loyal customers instead of "lost" customers. Company needs to prove to public that they are in this for the long haul and not a quick buck.
Pros: Marvelous meals I would have created if it had stayed in tact. Cons: Plastic parts are...wimpy... wimpy ...wimpy.
I hemmed and hawwed and finally gave in and purchased our bullet about 4 months ago. We used it and loved it.... when it would work. Its a fragile little gadget that couldn't stand up to our family's once per week use (sheesh). Plastic is wimpy and broke on cups rims rendering them useless in the base, blade housing separated from blade and would not turn, plastic base which holds the bullet to the base shattered and now it is a lovely paperweight...well not that lovely. save your money and your disappointment. Promises bigger than delivery.
Pros: Easy and fast to use, small and compact.Great for smoothies and dips Cons: none
I bought magic bullet about a year back, and its simple the best.I have had no problems so far & it works just perfect.I use it to make various dips, and really tasty smoothie. The thing i love the most about magic bullet is that its very easy and fast to use and if you are on a diet this is perfect cause i make low fat low calorie smoothies and salads in minutes. Also its compact so space is not a problem.I think its a good buy.
An annoying piece of junk to fill our landfills and/or your cupboard by suzannadavi ,Feb 11 '06
Pros: while you can use it - fast and convenient Cons: essential parts break off the containers- replacement parts over-priced
The plastic parts broke off the blender body on all but one within weeks of normal use and you can't use it without them. $30.00 for replacement!!! Better to buy a blender that can use a canning jar base unless you can afford to buy new containers every few months.
Pros: Actually does what it is supposed to do. Cons: You have to wash really well
This machine was bought for my birthday. I love to cook So my husband bought it for me. and i love it it makes things so easy and it doesn't take up any space.
Pros: Makes great smoothies Cons: VERY, VERY POOR durability
The TV AD looks great, and our family loves smoothies so the first day we made three,....no problem and then on the fourth the rubber gasket came loose and wrapped around the chopper blade,....that was the first problem. Then next one of the tiny tabs on one of the mugs broke and stayed in the base unit and that caused the next mug not to seat properly which led to the high torque motor chewing off the clutch on the bottom of the grinding unit,...problems two and three. (All on our first day with the MAGIC BULLET)
The concept is great, and when it is working right we love it,....but the design of the product is very poor in terms of durability.
We are currently looking for a similar product with better durability. (Hope someone makes one!!!)
What a piece of junk! I went through 2 of them! by mctivers ,Aug 30 '05
Pros: Small, hides away on counter. Easy to use. Cons: Very poorly built with cheap parts. Motor and unit will not last.
My friend bought one and I was impressed until I used it for mixing my power drinks. The black spindle on the inside which is made of plastic kept coming off so I took it back to where I bought it and they gave me a new one. Worked fine for a while then the same thing happend! Called magic for a refund and they said I would have to buy a new motor + shipping. Into the garbage the piece of crap went! Do yourself a favour and stay away from this crappy product. Buy a popular brand like Oster and you'll be happy.
Pros: SOUNDS AND LOOKS WONDERFUL??? Cons: VERY VERY VERY POORLY MADE!!!!
DO NOT BUY THE MAGIC BULLET!!!!
IT IS TOTAL CRAP. THE PLASTIC SPINDLE PIECE IN THE BASE UNIT BROKE THE FIRST TIME I USED IT. HAVING EXAMINED IT I COULD SEE THAT IT IS VERY POORLY MADE.
I WISH THAT I'D READ REVIEWS BEFORE I BROUGHT THIS CRAPPY BLOODY THING!
Pros: using it is easy and I love how it saves me time and money! Cons: there are no cons as far as I'm concerned!!!
I don't have a credit card Please let me pay by mail/personal check PLEASE! My husband and I are on a fixed income I'm in a wheelchair, and he is blind. I'm not asking for pity just a much appreciated break. We adore the Magic Bullet. I bought it while shopping at the local mall. I would dearly Love to purchase the 48oz. blender!! Thank you
The Magic Bullet blender system was my Christmas present to the mother in law this year.
Well let's just say that she was disappointed. The system did not live up to any of the expectations that the TV Infomercial would create in your mind.
The first assigned task for the Magic Bulls**t as she has re-christned it was simply mincing fruits for the Christmas fruit cake. Sad to say, it was not equal to the task. Indeed, she had to bring out the long in the tooth but still fully functional Osterizer which did the trick and saved the day (or should I say morning because it was 0200 on Christmas morning when she gave up trying to get the MB to work.)
This little excuse for a blender is better suited for my niece's play kitchen that the real thing. Don't throw out your oldie, you may still need it!
Pros: Cleans up quickly and not bulky to use Cons: Gotta be gentle
For those of you who might need replacement gears please email me at grevicci@cox.net You don't have to pay an arm and a leg to buy a new base just to get a gear!
Pros: Fast, easy to clean, doesn't take up much space. Cons: parts can break, can't use my blender without something breaking.
Just when I thought I'd have to trash my MB when my gear shattered into pieces and a replacement from the company would cost just about as much as I paid for everything total, a ray of hope came to me. I did a Google search and found that there was an affordable replacement gear and went ahead and purchased it. Now my MB that I was going to trash is in perfectly operable condition. What saved my MB was the link www.ambgears.blogspot.com
So fellow users, if you got stuck with a MB "lemon" then don't give up hope yet.
Some people love it, some like it, some break it. For insurance, buy it at Costco, then you can return it if you don't like it, or it breaks. yay Costco!
save your money - mine broke in the first week by richval ,Feb 23 '09
Pros: mixes quickly and not too noisy Cons: rubber gasket came loose adding tiny bits of black plastic to the drink!
finally received one as a gift but on the third use (making a milkshake for the kids) the rubber gasket came loose and wrapped around the blade. Tiny bits of plastic shredded through the drink. Do not feel this product is well made.
Pros: Works as advertised. Cons: Breaks after several months.
The bullet worked well for me for four months, but then the base failed. I was able to exchange it, but the second one eventually failed also. The only thing I really used it for was to whip up milk for coffee and light chopping once in a while. I enjoyed it while it worked but it's just too cheaply made.
Pros: Great product that can hold up to lots of abuse. Cons: I have heard of fakes that the manufacturer won't replace. Can you blame them?
I have had mine over 2 years and all of it works great. The base still works, the blades are still sharp. I have put it in the dishwasher, including blades, hundreds of times without any problems. The juicer is picky but works if you take your time. All in all this was well worth the money!!!
Buy this awesome product! by beginnercook ,Feb 09 '08
Pros: Gives good end results, takes less time than regular home conveniences. Cons: Ridiculous noise levels, can be poky at times.
My mom recently received a Magic Bullet for Christmas. Since today, I have already made 3 perfect, 20-40 second smoothies.
I would recommend this product to anyone who likes to cook, but doesn't seem to have a lot of time to cook big meals.
Pros: quick clean up, easy to use, compact Cons: LOUD!!! Doesn't always blend food at the top of container
I began making my daughters baby food at home, and considered buying a Magic Bullet. My sister had an unused one in storage as she is away at college, and allowed me to try it, before I purchased my own. It is so loud. Granted it does puree better than anything I've tried to use lately. But the volume at which it operates, is a definate deterant for me to purchase my own.
Be Ready for It to Break by noob_for_life ,Feb 12 '08
Pros: Seems to blend fast and well for smoothies (all we use it for) Cons: Plastic gears don't last. Customer service is slow and inflexible.
Within two months of purchasing it, the plastic gears attached to the blade were significantly worn. Within five months, the blades were useless.
We contacted the manufacturer. Replies came three - five days after our contacts. Because we didn't save the receipt, they wanted us to pay for a replacement blade
Check Consumer Reports. I should have. They list more durable personal blenders.
Pros: Loved the crab cake recipe in the book Cons: Can't handle anything frozen (except ice cream)
I bought this specifically cuz of the infomercial. Everything looked so good and so easy to make. Trust me, this product doesn't do a lot of the stuff suggested on tv. This thing can not make sorbet. I tried frozen strawberries and other frozen fruits and it over heats before you get sorbet. And it really stinks when it overheats. It can't chop ice cubes either. Basically, it sucks when it comes to making anything using anything frozen. It can't dice veggies either, they turn to a slimy mush. Forget making salsa, it turns out foamy and liquified. What it does make well...milkshakes, smoothies (with fresh fruit), whipped up eggs....can be done with the blender you probably already have.
Pros: Small, hides in a corner of the kitchen Cons: Doesn't chop. Pulse action is a joke. Not worth the money or the time.
Ok, it doesn't chop, it doesn't make cheese sauce, or spaghetti sauce, or salsa or anything at all that needs the pulse action. Its only good for smoothies and thats if you chop up the ice first, or mixed drinks, again, if you chop up the ice first, and its decent at making a frozen fruit treat as long as the frozen fruit is only a berry. Anything bigger than a berry and you're out of luck. This thing does not do what it says on the infomercial.
Motor broke for no reason. Company refuses to stand by warrantee! by staria ,Nov 20 '09
Pros: Blends baby food well. Cons: FALSE ADVERTISING! They sell faulty products and don't stand by warrantee!!
TERRIBLE PRODUCT. EVEN WORSE COMPANY!! The motor just broke as I was blending soft split peas. There is a card in the recipe book that I am supposed to mail in to activate the warrantee. But when I called them about it, they are telling me I need a proof of purchase as well. FALSE ADVERTISING! They want to charge me $20 for a new motor base -- what a great way to make money... sell faulty products and then keep making money when people are forced to buy new parts!
I was so excited to buy this! I tried to make a smoothie - would not chop ice. I tried twice - inconsistent and left many lumps! I was too afraid to run it much longer as I thought the motor would die! Mushed all other foods, even when pulsing. I guess if you are looking to make baby food, this would be your gadget, since everything that came out was mushy and icky! Most of the food sticks to the top of the machine, and it's nearly impossible to blend a consistent product.
Fragile is right. Buyer beware. by tracky ,Mar 08 '08
Pros: Good smoothie maker and coffee grinder, when it's not broken. Cons: Plastic gear drive breaks pretty easily and it's not cheap to replace.
When the Magic Bullet works, it works. But when the cheap little plastic drive gear thingy in the base that makes the blades turns breaks into several pieces (and it will, sooner or later), all you're left with is a worthless base and a box of useless containers. No more smoothies. It's a little plastic piece that probably costs 2 cents to make and should be easily replaceable because it pops right off, but the company wants to sell me a new base at $14.99 + $4.99 shipping. Maybe I overworked it, I don't know, but if you buy the Magic Bullet just be careful to use it lightly and know that it's not going to last a lifetime. Just another disposable appliance in our increasingly disposable world.
Pros: LIKE THE MAJIC BULLET Cons: RIPOFF POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE (J0SE)
BE CAREFUL when purchasing the majic bullet because they will sign you up for some weight loss product and keep on charging your credit card account. When I called the company the customer service representative Jose told me that they would not refund my money nor did they allow returns. I called a couple of days later and spoke to JOSE again inquiring about when the product had shipped and advised him to never charge my account again, he hung up on me
ITS SAD I LIKE THE MAJIC BULLET BUT BECAUSE OF THE SCAM AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE (JOSE) I HAVE TO GIVE THIS PRODUCT A BAD RATING
Very good but the base stops working in 6 months by karensahahi ,Feb 09 '08
Pros: Practical Handy Cons: Expensive, Braks down within 6 months
I brought the Magic bullet when I moved to my new house. I was very excited and found it very functional and handy. Within 6 months, suddenly it stopped working. The same thing happened to 2 more friends of mine which I found out after enquiring. So BEWARE. There is warranty that come with it and after 6 months no store will take it back. Plus most of the mugs for drinks are not used unless you do have parties in your home often. What we need most id the big and the small jar which are only one each.
Company warranty poor when part is a problem by maureen15 ,Jan 20 '09
Pros: Easy to use .Easy to store.company minimally supports warranty. Cons: poor company support for warranty. charge shipping for parts under warranty.
Have had my magic bullet less that a year. Have used minimally(less than 20 times). It is easy to use but.....
Pros: dishwasher safe, small, easy to use, multipurpose, great chocolate mousse recipe Cons: The recipe for salsa was not good
I have had this product for about 5 months and do actually use it everyday. I love it. I have used the knock offs and was not impressed. The party blender was the worst.
Pros: Quick clean-up and easy to use. Can find them heavily discounted at many chain stores Cons: Unit is very delicate. Probably not intented for daily use, like other well built appliances.
Spend the money and buy a real blender. I have purchased two, one for my wife and the other for my sister. Both have burned out within a year with normal use. Plastic parts are plastic parts!!
Do yourself a favour, steer clear and buy a blender by kicker01 ,Jan 02 '09
Pros: Small Cons: Cheap and useless
I was quite happy using a blender for smoothies, but thought this item would be useful for its food processor capabilities. It has failed BIG TIME for everything I have tried it for. When trying to chop onions, even when following directions, all it did was made onion juice with big chunks of untouched onion. The tabs on the cups that trigger the motor are sure to break off in a short amount of time. The cups are made of plastic that will retain the smell of foods processed in them after time. They are too small to fit the ingredients of a smoothie. There is no way to fit a banana, frozen fruit, protein powder and yogourt/milk in even the largest cup. And again left a puree with large chunks of frozen fruit. I had none of these problems with my ordinary blender, so I'll go back to the good, old-fashioned way and will return this cheap hunk of garbage.
Works well, poor construction by jeff27 ,Mar 17 '08
Pros: efficient, easy clean up Cons: began to fall apart immediately, customer service and product support terrible.
I received the Magic Bullet as a gift last Christmas. Functions well as a blender and chopper for small jobs, quick and easy cleanup. My beef is that the little rubber feet in the base are constantly falling out. When I contacted customer "service" about this, they suggested that I use Krazy Glue to glue them in. I explained that one of the little feet had been lost, and that I would need a replacement. I was told that I needed to order a whole set of 4, and since the thing wobbles all over without one of the feet, I bought a set. They charged me over $10 plus shipping for 4 tiny rubber feet, AND NEVER SHIPPED THEM. I have been waiting for 9 months, so I'm assuming that I've been ripped off. Live and learn.
Pros: An excellent paper weight. Cons: Does not work as advertised at all.
I purchased my Magic Bullet from a department store.
It is an original. From Homeland Housewares. Upc is official.
It is a total piece of junk.
It could not even cut through a peeled and de-pitted avocado...I could have mushed it up with my bare hands easier and quicker than trying to use the Magic Bullet.
Please don't fall for the infomercial, before you waste your money please Google 'magic bullet reviews', read all the reviews on this product out there and you will soon see how there are entire websites dedicated to how much of a scam this product is. There are two major opinions, it works, it doesn't work they are generally equal (100 people like it, 100 people hate it) I guess it just depends on if you are lucky enough to get one that works...but shouldn't a company only sell a product that works ALL the time? Shame on you Homeland Housewares.
