Pros: A hotel where food and service are in perfect sync with the location.
Cons: None?  Rooms may be smalller than some would like.

Summary: The Mandarin Oriental may be in downtown Miami, but the hotel could well be at the end of the earth as far as most visitors could detect.  At the tip of Brickell key, the Mandarin glitters serenely above the azure waters of Biscayne ... read more

Pros: Beautiful rooms with perfect views. Stellar public areas. Flawless housekeeping.
Cons: A dull location unless you're in Miami for business.

Summary: I first stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in August, 2001. I was in a particularly foul mood when I first arrived at the hotel. Miami was typically--but still dreadfully--hot and humid. The traffic was as bad as Bangkok's congestion. The noise level ... read more

    Pros: Tranquil, sensibly luxurious, secluded
    Cons: None

Summary: The Mandarin Oriental is a true gem. I have experienced this type of sensible luxury only in Asia, so I was pleasantly surprised by this find. I find Miami and South Beach to be a cheesy, abnoxously foul city, yet this hotel makes you forget that. It
