Pros: fine in clean beds Cons: hard to start and handle in weedy or rocky beds
I hate it!
I was prepared to love this product, and indeed, when I took over from my husband on my little prepared bed, it was great. BUT...I can't start it. I'm not the weakest person on the planet, but this machine leaves me feeling utterly...

Pros: Design, versitility, power Cons: You won't know what to do with all the extra produce
Simply put, using the Mantis Tiller, I can do in one hour what would have taken me eight hours using hand tools.
Now if you're a typically avid gardener, you know what this means, and it doesn't mean you'll work 1/8 as hard, does it? No, what...

Pros: Strong once you get it running.
Cute. Cons: Price, Expense and and availability of repair parts, Difficult to start.
When I got this tiller in June of 2001, it had a stripped gear in the transmission, and a bad gas cap.
The tiller was out of warranty and about 5 years old.
The replacement gas cap cost a whopping 15.00!! I couldn't believe it!
Now for...

Pros: Lots of power for a little machine! Cons: Some kickback when working in areas with large stones or big roots.
I was a bit skeptical when my wife bought this tiller for me for Christmas. I have a yard with a heavy clay content and lots of large stones in the soil. I'm a big guy and have used lots of bigger machines to till with. I was certain this light,...

Pros: 3 payment plan Cons: Does not work as stated.
We purchased the Mantis tiller that is advertised on TV. It sounded really good, looked like it would make easy work out of tilling our large vegetable garden although it did seem costly.
We were able to make monthly payments via our credit card...

Pros: Quiet, powerful, light and easy to handle. No handling gas and messing with gas motors. Cons: The only con is dragging the cord around.
My 3 year old 2 stroke engined Mantis Tiller was having trouble running smoothly and finally it stopped responding to the throttle. I had a bunch of tilling to do preparing plant beds so looked for a replacement. I saw the electric model which was not ...

Pros: Lightweight, easily managed, no maintenance Cons: Noisy, expensive.
I've been gardening for 6 years and bought my Mantis 3 years ago. I would not do without it now. It is light enough that I can till up my vegetable garden and flower gardens by myself. I am a petite woman who can handle this little machine easily. It...

Pros: Works well if the area has been dug up or tilled. Lightweight. Cons: Difficult to start. The Honda engine option is the way to go.
I purchased the Mantis Tiller three years ago. There are a few different models; some have the better Honda engines, mine doesn't. This tiller isn't designed to break up hard ground, your garden will need to tilled with a larger tiller or dug up before ...

Pros: Portable, digs deep, fairly reliable Cons: Not suitable for large jobs
I love my Mantis. I bought it used -- ten years old and put a new carburetor on it and it goes like crazy. It is, frankly, the perfect tool for a person who is wanting to dig up the hard-packed junk that contractors use to fill in the yards of...

Pros: Light weight, fast revolutions, durable (so far), ease of assembly Cons: Too Light, throws a lot of dirt out of the tilled area
This is a very specialized tool, don't confuse it with the Troybuilt versatiller or other larger size tiller. You will be disappointed.
The Mantis is small lightweight, and easily adapts to many chores, but deep tilling of large areas is not...

Pros: depth of tines and weight of tiller Cons: takes a long time to till large area
I purchased my mantis used over 10 years ago, and they purchased it shortly after it was introduced to the market. In other words, this is a very old machine. It has served me well for what I want from it. I use the tiller and edger attachments. I love...

Pros: lightweight and effective Cons: assembly confusion and storage
I personally do not own a Mantis tiller, but I did use one at work for a year at a Earl May Nursery and Garden Center in West Des Moines Iowa. I found the Mantis to be very effective in tilling for gardens. It is most effective though when tilling...
