Pros: Excellent audio and video quality, diverse playback, a truly excellent hybrid Cons: Marantz skimped a bit on audio componentry- unexpected for Marantz. Chroma bug
Marantz was one of the first manufacturers to recognize the obvious fact that SACD and DVD-A were in the midst of serious battle, yet neither one was going away anytime soon. In an attempt to put together a top-notch reference quality player capable of...
Pros: Gorgeous picture and lush sound Cons: none that I've found
Forget Jack, the Marantz DV8300 is a true Master of All Trades. My old CD player (a top-of-the line Yamaha) had passed its 14th birthday and the drawer was giving me trouble (not opening most of the time), so I was in the market for a new one....
Pros: Does everything well - truly a jack of all trades Cons: A bit pricey but worth it
An excellent all rounder - good enough to do justice to SACD and DVD-A. I say this because most cheaper players don't let you hear the real glory of SACD and DVD Audio. This one does! I initially bought a Pioneer DV47 but was disappointed at the sound...
Pros: Picture and Sound Quality. Progressive Scan video adjustments. Looks nice too. Cons: Price
Purchased this DVD player as a replacement for Marantz DV-18 and there was a notable improvement right away. This machine is a lot quicker at loading and accessing discs. Moving from chapter to chapter was faster as well. Progressive scan output is...
one month ago I purchased... by louie_dt3003 ,Feb 02 '03
one month ago I purchased a pair of carver al-3 ribbion speakers new for $1200, they sat in a stereo store for five years idle, hooked them up to my carver silver nine-t's and put a cd in my trusty onkyo player . to my horror the transparancy of the ribbons reveled all the poor characteristics of the sound source and the player it's self. I searched around alot listened to a lot of high priced junk out there and finally purchased the 8300, after the 24 hr break-in it sounded even better.the store I purchased the unit from had it hooked up to B&W 801 i believe, so you gotta' figure they were using one of the best available cd players to showcase the $8000 speakers. Also I purchased tributary a-3 interconnects because cables do matter you don't have to spend $2000 on cables just get as good as you can afford. I could have purchased any cd-dvd-sacd player, I picked the 8300 you won't be disappointed either.
