I bought the bar set (Set of two swivel chairs and bar table) I have it under a gazebo and move it in the garage during the winter. I love it! Want to purchase more cushions and umbrella. I believe it is how you take care of something.
It has survived our extreme Iowa weather conditions VERY well.
We bought the set at K-mart in the fall of 2000 at VERY low sale prices. Lazy Susan and table, Umbrella, 5 chairs, 2 rockers, chaise lounger, sofa, coffee table.
We cover all seating items when not in use due to our extreme summer weather. We do not have an umbrella cover.
We store the entire set including cushions in our shed for the winter. The chairs stack very nicely. :)
It continues to look like new.
The cushions are not as supportive now because they have experienced excessive 3 season use yearly.
We have a huge family and many friends over very often. We pretty much live in our backyard wildlife habitat until we're forced inside by the cold or snow.
This set is beautiful and blends in with the setting wonderfully.
I would buy it again. Found this site searching for prices on the 3 person swing with shade cover.
After reading all the reviews, my husband and I were skeptical about purchasing the table and chairs. But we went ahead and bought the table, chairs, the matching gazebo, 2 chase lounge chairs, and 4 matching folding chairs. Everything went together extremely easy. Even the gazebo was put together in about half an hour. We are pleased with our decision. We do live in a windy area so my husband drilled screws into the cement to anchor the gazebo. We both are really pleased with the entire set. I do bring the cushions in the house during the week when they're not being used. As far as paint chipping or rust, we've not experienced that. Our set is now about 2 months old. I will store the chairs and take the tarp off the gazebo when winter comes. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase and I recommend the set.
I have had good luck with this set by elayjay ,Apr 12 '09
Pros: Relatively inexpensive, comfortable, nice looking Cons: Yearly care is required to keep the set looking good.
I have had my 5 chairs, table, and chaise for 4-5 years. Also added a few of the matching folding chairs. Yes I was disappointed as well in the rust factor, even after waxing. It seems water/dew collects in the chair arms. I have used steel wool to sand the rust spots each year and found a Rustoleum hammered spray paint that matches very well. I have had to replace the cusions every few years even though they are protected in the winter and I spray scotchgard on them. Although the 'Victoria" style/color is no longer available there is a "Palisades" that matches somewhat and fits the frames. I noticed they are now made of a heavier canvas type fabric which I hope lasts longer. I had spare cushions in my garage but unfortunately the mice had a great time making nests out of them.
Martha Stewart Everyday Victoria Collection by ritaroman ,Jun 29 '09
Pros: Beautiful set for about a year. Cons: Does not live up to manufacturer statements.
I purchased the entire Martha Stewart Victoria Collection in 2002. It sat in boxes in storage until our pool was completed in 2007. We have the sofa, table, patio table with 5 chairs, umbrella, 4 rockers, end table and 2 extra chairs. After putting the collection together we put a wax protectant on them as recommended. After only one year, the chairs had chipped and peeled paint horribly. 4 cushions have been thrown out as they were literally in shreds. I am having a heck of a time finding replacement cushions. I am so disappointed to have paid so much money and received so little enjoyment out of the set. So sad!
Poor Quality Dooms This Collection! by kmc123 ,Jan 03 '05
Pros: Heavy & sturdy frames; looks good, at first. Cons: Poor general quality
After purchasing an entire set sans umbrella two years ago, the cushions on all of the chairs have become brittle and have ripped in several places. K-aMe apART sells replacement cushions for a ridiculous price with the same quality problems. I live in Arizona where outdoor entertaining is year-round so storing the cushions when not in use is not an option. I have also had issues with the quality of the components used on the rocker treads that have broke after only three months. Save yourself the trouble I and others have had with this collection and purchase a different brand! This set is not a value at any price.
Victorian collection problems by jjstrang ,Sep 04 '06
Pros: Sturdy, comfortable and like the look of the furniture Cons: cushions faded and material is ripping up. Umbrella coming apart. chairs are rusting
We bought the Victorian collections at Kmart..The table with 5 chairs around 2002. At the end of the summer I bought the umbrella and the next year(2003) I bought the chaise lounge. Where do I get replacement cushions? I have not had any problems with the glass shattering.
Do not buy JRA Patio Furniture from Sears by dkershey ,Jul 17 '07
Pros: None Cons: Cheap garbage.
Sears will not handle the warranty if anything goes wrong and JRA doesn't respond to problems. It's been two months and I'm still trying to talk to someone from JRA about replacing my patio set. The exterior surface of the chairs I bought are peeling off and revealing the frame. I've called, emailed and sent letters, but still waiting for a response. I'm going to go back to Sears and throw the responsibility on them, but I doubt they'll do anything. What is the use of a warranty if they (Sears and JRA) don't honor it?? I paid over $500 for garbage furniture that didn't last a year. To see one of the chairs, visit my web page http://members.cox.net/dkershey/. Warning: They sell their products in a variety of stores under different names.
Pros: Love my 2004 Victoria set. The swing gives me many hours of pleasure. Cons: Cushions have not weathered well at all. Canopy is torn.
Need to replace swing cushion and canopy and rockers and table chair cushions. Anyone have any helpful advise? I have searched K-Mart on-line as we don't have one here in Houston, but to no avail.
shattering table, rusting metal, and shredded cushions by hummingbirdgar ,Jul 28 '08
Pros: Beautiful Cons: do not buy! very poor quality
The Victorian set is beautiful to behold, too bad the actual set is a mess. We purchased our set 4 years ago and today our table shattered sending shards of glass every where! This is a real hazard. Thankfully my son and mother-in-law had just come inside or they could have been seriously hurt. The lazy susan remained in tact even after it slide across our concrete patio when my husband was cleaning all of the glass up. We have pictures of this.
We take our cushions in faithfully when we are not using them. They faded and are tearing. We noticed this after one season. The metal on the set, chairs, and table rusted and lost the coating. Also after just one season. (looking white in places) We have pictures of this.
The table is well covered in the winter along with the chairs. We are very disappointed and would like a refund.
Pros: Great for a few months Cons: After that few months....Rust Rust Rust!
I purchased my Ms Victoria set 1 year ago and yes!!! Rust Rust Rust! Waste of money and I hope Martha goes back to prison for putting her name on rip off merchandise.
Pros: It's pretty and the table top glass is what makes this set. Cons: It isn't water proof, fade resistant, & the fabric tears easily.
I bought the table, 5 chairs and an umbrella in 2006. I loved this set when it first came out in the 90's and wanted one then but had to wait. The first set was sage green and very good quality. My sister bought the first set from the 90's and just now had to replace it. I bought my set (Victoria) in 2006 (gray) and I loved it at first, although the quality was nothing like the set from the 90's and I was unhappy about that. The table top was the same (etched leaves) and very pretty, but that was all. I have been disappointed with this newer set. My umbrella was history after the first summer as the fabric faded and tore. The cushions and the fabric are not the quality they used to be and they are not fade resistant or waterproof. I wish they would have kept making them the same way they did when Martha Stewart first came out with this collection in the 90's. The design is what is so attractive and people would continue buying if the quality was still there. Martha, what happened???
For the price good - but my glass did shatter by timanton ,Jun 03 '08
Pros: Beautiful set - low cost Cons: Umbrella base rusting quickly - glass table shatter
The price was good for this set. It has held up for us in the 5 years that we have had it.
Some cushion fading and paint chipping but we only bring the cushions inside in the winter and do not cover the set at all.
The base to the umbrella did start rusting within the first few months of purchase. I thought I just got a bad one. The rest of the set really hasn't rusted.
Just a couple days ago the glass on the table shattered for no reason. The same thing that everyone has reported - nothing hit it, glass in thousands of pieces and the lazy susan intact. It happened in the middle of the night - so everyone was OK.
Has anyone received a reply from K-Mart or JRA on this? It is not an isolated case.
Pros: I've loved my set - heavy and sturdy Cons: Started to rust rather early.
I've read all the bad reviews about the table top spontaneously breaking - this has not happened to mine - however, my canopy did rip to shreads in a wicked wind storm. I know the company is out of business - does anyone have any idea on how to get a replacement canopy? Would really appreciate the help. I never had a swing with a canopy and I have no idea where to begin a search for a canopy.
