Mary Kay Oil Mattifier; I'd Prefer NOT to Shine, Thanks

by krissingene Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 10 '05
Pros: Absorbs oil for several hours; fragrance-free; small tube lasts for months; no animal testing.
Cons: Only available through an MK consultant; a bit pricey.
When a good friend called me one evening to tell me that she had become a Mary Kay consultant, my stomach dropped a little. I just knew that she was about to invite me to one of those awful parties where you sit around rubbing various gunks and creams ...

Matte Magic!

by twenty3skidoo , Oct 06 '04
Pros: Applies smoothly, non-irritating, won't disturb makeup, works well on skin AND hair, portable, discreet
Cons: Must be purchased from Mary Kay representative
I like to think of myself as low-maintenance. The 15 steps in my beauty routine every morning, however, paint another picture entirely. In my never-ending quest for "the natural look" I find myself constantly in search of some product to get rid of my ...

Shine Control Within My Price Range

by theinbox , May 22 '04
Pros: Works effectively, small tube is easy to carry, can be applied over foundation
Cons: Not one I can think of.
Over the years, I've become more and more concerned with preventative skin care, and as a good habit, I've worn sunscreen every single day since my early 20's. Having combination skin which becomes increasingly oily during the warmer months has meant ...

Great Oil Controller for T-Zone

by hollywoodgirl Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jun 22 '05
Pros: Excellent staying power, imparts wonderful matte quality to skin.
Cons: None I can see, except a bit pricey.
Not sure what this contains to sop up oil on the skin, but it sure works! Now that it's summer, I use this over my moisturizer at night and sometimes in the day. Neutrogena use to have a similiar product that they've since discontinued, but this one ...

No more oil slick!!

by palmprincess , Dec 05 '02
Pros: The Texture, it's portable, a little goes a long way.
Cons: Price (if paying retail), takes practice to use the right amount.
There are things that we all love and hate about ourselves, wouldn't you agree?

One of the biggest things that I hated about myself was that in every picture of me, as well as every time I looked in the mirror, the light was reflecting off of...

Oil No More!

by traxie2001 , Aug 14 '05
Pros: Greatly Reduces Shine, Easy to Use
Cons: A Tad Expensive, A Bit Drying
Mary Kay's Oil Mattifier is an excellent product. As a sufferer of oily skin for nearly ten years (yikes, did I actually write that!?!?), I have been desperate to prevent that noon shine that appears on my forehead and provides enough reflection ...

Fair, not as good as ProActiv Skin Matte (no longer available)

by starybaba0 , Jun 20 '07
Pros: None in particular. Goes on smoothly, doesn't spot clothing, doesn't tangle hair.
Cons: Over-priced, works for only a couple hours.
I am 52 years old, have had oily skin since I was a teenager. This condition has gotten worse with perimenopause and menopause. I have tried numerous oily skin products over the years--Clinique, ProActiv, Clearasil, Stri-Dex, Phisoderm, Neutrogena ...

Oil is Gone
by chrcln ,Dec 30 '05
Pros: texture, no scent, can be reapplied if needed
Cons: none that I can think of!
I always used to have healthy normal skin. Over the past two years, things have changed. I now have oily skin and by the end of the day, I feel like a giant grease ball!

I've been using other Mary Kay products for a few months now and have been happy with my overall experience (I actually have a very kind consultant who doesn't pressure or hound you...) I received a postcard that she was having a 50% off sale and thought I would go to see what she had. I figured it would be the perfect time to try this product, normally it's $15.00 but I got it on sale for $7.50.

The next morning I put it on over my moisturizer and was amazed with the results. Instantly my skin looked matte and beautiful. It remains oil free all day. However, what I love about this product is that you can always reapply it if needed (I haven't found the need yet).

Overall, a wonderful product for those who suffer from oily skin!
