Pros: Quiet, and clean the dishes with out pre-rising it. Cons: None-
My husband and I have been shopping for a new Dishwasher for the last couple of month, and just wasn't sure what we wanted. We've gone to a few local appliance store, and one of them wanted to push the the Bosh, and/or the Miele dishwasher, and we both j ...
Pros: Very quiet; dishes come out spotlessly clean.
Cons: None
I was a little leery about buying this dishwasher because of the few negative comments on this website, but decided buy it because it appeared to have the most features for the money...... and I was not disappointed... I was very impressed by it's quiet ...
Pros: Quiet, cleans extremely well, easy to install. Cons: Flimsy racks are prone to breaking.
This dishwasher replaced another Maytag we had for eight years and ran 1000 - 1200 cycles a year. The former was obviously very durable, and that's why we decided to stick with Maytag when we replaced it. We installed the washer ourselves, and the ...
Pros: We bought it at Lowe's. Cons: Everything else.
Where do I begin? This has been, without question, the worst experience I've ever had when dealing with a major corporation. You'd think a company as large as Maytag would have better customer service. But no. We bought this dishwasher shortly ...
Pros: QUIET!!!! It has all the options I could ever want. Cons: Doesn't hold as much as the other. Dishes so hot, must wait to empty machine.
I got a Maytag when we moved into our house 16 years ago. We chose one because most dishwashers were supposed to last 10 years and Maytag's and Kitchenaid's lifespan were 20 years. I cursed the longevity as the years went on. The noise really bothered ...
Pros: The ability to hold and clean very large pots, pans Cons: may leak if you interrupt the the cycle once it's started
We have owned this dishwasher for 3 weeks now and put through a number of washes. We are pleased with the amount of dishes, pots and utensils we can fit in. With four i the family we use a lot of glassware. We would have liked a bit more space in the ...
Pros: Big pan not a problem. moving Top basket(up&down). Clip holding in the top basket Cons: Hard to set up all the dishes .

Pros: This dishwasher holds a lot, even big stuff. Great touch pad. Cons: The middle of the lower rack's fewer tines poses small bowl placement dilemmas.
My new dishwasher and I got off to a great start. I bought it based on a good Consumer Report's report. I needed the quiet operation and tall tub with lots of flexibility promised. I found a great deal on the exact model I wanted at Home Depot, of all ...
We bought this dishwasher thinking that since it's toward the top of the line, it would last a long time. When we first got it, it made a terrible racket. My wife said the manual stated it would make some noise due to the built in garbage disposal. ...
Pros: Accommodates wine glasses, plastic ware. Fairly quiet, nice looking. Easy installation. Lots of features Cons: Did not clean dishes. Flimsy construction. Sludge left in tank after cycle.
We previously owned a 17 year old GE which was in the house when we moved in. It was very noisy but the dishes always came out clean. I wasn't sorry to see it go until I bought the 7600. In the month that we had it, we never had one load of dishes that ...
I bought this dishwasher in January of 2004. Since that time (13 months), the dishwasher has performed beautifully - it's a bit slow (2 hours plus for a "normal" wash cycle), but it does an excellent job getting the dishes clean. Just one little ...
Pros: Nice looks, lots of features. Cons: Does not wash or dry well. Parts cheaply made.
I bought this model from Home Depot. It looked great and had a ton of features which attracted me to it. The tub was also pretty roomy. As I found out the hard way, looks are not everything. It is very quiet but does not clean as well as I would expect. ...
Pros: Has a delay cycle and the silverware rack can be separated into 2 and repositioned. Cons: Top rack breaks continually, redeposits food, discolors aluminum and copper.
We bought this dishwasher about a year ago, and chose Maytag because our old dishwasher was a Maytag and it was a gem, and Consumer Reports recommended it highly. This dishwasher discolors aluminum items and copper bottom pots. It redeposits food on ...
Pros: Its very pretty, and very quiet Cons: Doesn't wash dishes at all. Its a dish dirtier, not a dish washer.
I got a wonderful Christmas gift early this year, all new kitchen appliances. A great Maytag side by side fridge, a lovely Maytag range... and a lemon for a dishwasher. The dishwasher was installed two weeks after I paid for it, by a contractor for ...
Pros: Seems to clean pretty well. Very configurable rack options. Cons: Rack wheels are weak. Hard food gets stuck in the grinder, making a horrible noise.
I've noticed that many companies seem to change their model numbers often and unnecessarily, as if just to stay clear of bad reviews. Sound familiar? Therefore, I'd like to claim this review applies to pretty much all similar washers. However, ...
Pros: Quiet enough.
Easy to install.
Lots of features.
RE-ENGINEERED RACK ADJUSTER ASSEMBLIES !!!!! Cons: Faulty rack assemblies.
Maytag's UNETHICAL, PSYCHOPATHIC business practices.
3-4 week wait for replacement parts.
Like several other folks who have posted here, I have the same problem with a Maytag Built-In dishwasher of the same design. I have had three racks replaced under warranty and when the first roller failed on each I checked to discover that EVERY ...
Pros: Nice looking Cons: Cheap construction - all plastic parts.
Our 30+ year old dishwasher went to dishwasher heaven yesterday. In a panic, I sent my husband out to buy a replacement. He came home with the Maytag MDB7600AWS. My initial reaction was that it looked really nice. Then of course, anything is nicer ...
Pros: ? Cons: Very Expensive Total Cost of Ownership
This is a very poor product. The dishwasher is loud and the heated dry does not dry anything, dishes come out soaking wet. The rack organizers will break off in 6 months. I have not tried to get these replaced but I have seen reports where Maytag ...
Pros: excellent options Cons: cycles are a little long (1.5 hrs +)
After much investigation on the various dishwashers, I decided this particular model would meet my needs. Originally I was planning on purchasing the model with 3 levels but decided against it since I don't believe it will hold the large stock pots....
Pros: Look Cons: Made my dishes dirtier! Avoid this one!
We wanted a new dishwasher and made a mistake at looking at features instead of reviews. This was the WORST dishwasher ever! I call it a dish dirtier. My dishes would come out dirtier than when they went in. I had scrambled eggs (little tiny pieces) left ...
Pros: Best for tall items. Lots of jets. Recessed upper wash arm. Cons: Not great for loading of glasses/cups.
Part feel cheap/flimsy.
I have read every Maytag MDB7600A review and haven't seen anyone mention the ergonomics issues with the upper rack. I examined this dishwashwer, a GE Profile PDW7712JWW (Canada), and a Whirlpool machine for rack ergonomics. I spent 2 hours tyring ...
Pros: Cleans dishes well. Cons: A little noisy for price.
As this is the first dishwasher I have ever owned, I do not have much basis for comparison. However, I do not enjoy washing dishes by hand, and this dishwasher takes care of that. It cleans dishes very well, especially glassware. However, it does leave...
Pros: It didn't explode and burn my house down (yet). Cons: I don't even know where to start.
I don't even know where to begin writing this review. We purchased it in February of 2004 after reading that consumer reports rated it highly. I was an idiot for two reasons: we bought it at the Maytag store, and opted out of the extended service plan. ...
Pros: Cleans well. Cons: Wheels on upper rack keep breaking. Very expensive to replace.
I purchased my Maytag dishwasher model #MDB 7600 AWB in 2004 and have had the same problem over and over. The wheel hubs on the upper rack have broken 4 times (under warranty), but now that I need to replace the part myself, I'm finding it very ...
Pros: Washed dishes well initially Cons: Repeated expensive latch repairs needed. After a few years prerinsing required.
For those who reviewed the machine shortly after they bought it, I agree that the machine could wash dishes well without prerinsing. I purchased my MDB7600A in Oct 2003. A quick napkin wipe of excess food into the trash ...
Pros: nice features and flexible loading Cons: major failure after 2 weeks
I loved this dishwasher until it had a major failure after 2 weeks. The drive for the motor sheared off for an unknown reason after minimal use. Maytag service came out and the repairman said it was the 3rd one with this problem he had seen in a month,...
Pros: Adjustable height to accommodate larger items! Cons: Faulty racks re-engineered but Maytag doesn't want to accommodate prior customers!
I would tell anyone that is considering a Maytag product to reconsider!! I paid about $600.00 in March, 2005 and I am 25 months into my dishwasher purchase. Now this is the second time I've had a problem with the top rack wheels! When I tried to get the ...
Pros: It was quiet. Cons: Broken most of the time.
Doesn't dry dishes.
Plastic parts will not remain in place.
We had a home built that was completed mid-September 2004. We, of course, chose all of the kitchen appliances that would be installed. Having a Maytag washer and drying cabinet, I was pleased to learn that Maytag made dishwashers and ranges. I picked ...
Pros: Tons of Room! Many ways to load! Extremely Quiet! Reasonably Priced! Cons: None

Well, were do I start? We bought this lemon of a dishwasher from Sears a few years ago. The first one was a floor model that leaked and had to be replaced immediately upon installation. (motor seal broken) The one we have now has ...
Pros: Design. Ease of use. Cons: Poorly constructed. Faulty door latch. Unreliable. Noisy at times.
We purchased this dishwasher in 2003 after we did some kitchen upgrades and replaced our older but very dependable Maytag. Big mistake! If this appliance is any indication of Maytag's quality now, they've certainly gone downhill as a ...
Pros: Fully digital, control lock, great cleaning Cons: None.
I used to own a GE dishwasher, which was only 5 years old at the time it quit working. We decided to try another brand of dishwasher, and went with a Maytag.
This dishwasher is truly THE BEST I've seen! It cleans like a dream, is fully digital, and was super-easy to install. The food disposer and adjustable rack make it easy to clean any type of dish, regardless of size or caking.
The noise level is actually quieter than the GE was, the loud draining is completely quieted, with only a slight hum being generated by the food disposer. The washing cycles do generate noise, but not anything to really worry about. The cleaning ability of this dishwasher more than makes up for any noise that may be heard.
Plus, there's a control locking mechanism to keep the toddlers from pressing the buttons.
Pros: Reasonably quiet, cleans well, energy efficient, loading flexibility Cons: Not inexpensive (at least in Canada)
We just had a Maytag MDB7600 AWW installed a week ago. This dishwasher replaces a 10-year-old Frigidaire, which was noisy, leaking, and generally on it's last leg.
I spent 3 months researching dishwashers and convincing my husband that the leaky lame one needed to be jettisoned out the nearest air lock, before purchasing this model. My first choice was a Whirlpool 2300 stainless interior model however it was about $200 more and a recent partial home reno. went well over budget so to save several more months of "convincing" my husband that we really needed to find a replacement, I found something I thought would do almost as well but was less expensive.
So far, we are very happy with our purchase. It's quiet, although not silent; it's definitely quieter than the old Frigidaire. It cleans well and is quite energy efficient for a North American model. It also takes a lot less detergent to get the dishes clean. Another plus is that this is a tall tub unit. This style definitely holds more in a load. The only thing that I wish it had is a stainless steel interior.
We bought our Maytag a few weeks ago. It is the best dishwasher we have ever owned. It even cleans pans. we were always having to wash out the inside of coffee and tea cups as the stains never came out in the dishwasher. Not anymore. This dishwasher really cleans. It is also quieter than our old dishwasher. The heavy duty cycle is a little long, but who cares if all the dishes are clean when it is done. The last dishwasher we owned was a terrible disappointment and we were replacing it after only 3 years. I decided to leave a review as I found the epinion reviews very helpful in helping us choose a dishwasher. There as so many choses on the market today and an appliance is a big expense.
chalk residue/dirty dishes problem resolved by zorroagain ,Dec 01 '06
Pros: Problem solved Cons: Problem solved
Maytag has a fine screen above the motor and it is prone to getting mucked up. I used a product called Lemi-Shine and it removed all excess detergent and even clean the heater element. I have used CLR in the past and it did not work. This product can be used with your dishes or you can run it empty to do deep cleaning. You may have to do several applications. It is a citris acid based crystal in a bottle. You can get it at Fry's or oder it online. It took me 2 years to figure out this problem. Other dishwashers do have this screen design so it probably is less prone on other makes.
Pros: Cleans great. Very flexible loading design. Roomy interior. Cons: Leaks from behind the door panel and under the float. Noisy at times.
After researching in Consumer Reports and on Epinions we bought this dishwasher because of the great reviews and because we loved our old MAYTAG dishwasher. This dishwasher also loads very well. It is more versatile in the loading patterns than any other dishwasher. However, the dishwasher leaked from two spots right off the bat. There was a small drip from under the float in the front right of the dishwasher. There was also a leak from behind the front door panel, between the tub and insulation! We could only guess that it was leaking from around the soap dispenser. The service man tightened things but it still leaked. The store replaced it with a new model. The new one has the same two leaks! This time soapy water is dripping out from behind the door. If the store will take it back, I am buying a different brand. It's a shame, because it cleans great and I always loved the brand. Save yourself the hassle and buy something else.
Pros: I love the way this dishwasher is laid out. Cons: Motor went bad after 3 months!
We purchased, what we thought, was a GREAT dishwasher three months ago. Actually spent the extra money to buy from a local Dealer. The repairman just left and the motor is out and will need replacing!
3 Months Old!
The local Maytag dealer will REPLACE the motor.
If I had bought this at Lowes or Home Depot, I would have the option of replacing with the same brand or for a NEW BRAND without having REPLACEMENT PARTS.
Lesson learned - Don't buy from your local dealer and I wouldn't recommend Maytag either!
But, I must say.....the Maytag Repairman was VERY NICE!
Junk... Don't buy a Maytag dishwasher by alabatte ,Jan 24 '05
Pros: None Cons: Noisy, does not clean, expensive
I purchased a Maytag MDB7600 dishwasher two months ago. It has been a piece of junk since the day I purchased it. I was told it would be as quiet as a Bosch (no way). This thing makes more noise then my 10 year old dishwasher I replaced and it costs twice as much. It leaves dirty water on the bottom of the tub after every wash and the interior is now stained a bright red from the food that it is trying to clean. Now after only two months the unit won't even turn on. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of Maytag dishwasher.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE by rysmom8821 ,Feb 14 '06
Pros: It is quiet Cons: Too many to count
Where do I begin? We have had pieces break on this dishwasher at least five times. We have had the repairman here 3 times. This thing is very cheaply made. I bought this thinking it would last 7-10 years. I should have just kept the one I had. It was loud but worked and never had a broken part in 12 years. The design of this is very poor also. You can only load plates on one side of the bottom rack. I would suggest that you look for another brand or you will spend your time dealing with their customer service dept.
Pros: At this point we can't think of anything positive to say about this dishwasher. Cons: Very disappointed with dishwasher and Maytag. Repair parts on backorder???
Purchased new 3/4/04, paid $512.53. Failed 3/12/04. Maytag responded 3/13/04. Found defective motor, circuit board and capacitor. Motor & board on back order. Will attempt to return for exchange for another brand. Buyer beware.
Filter Design Flaw - a real pain by gc717 ,Jan 28 '06
Pros: After every cleaning of the metal screen, it works nicely ... for a while. Cons: Metal screen in the recirculating filter is just a pain!
Even though we rinse off our dishes, I have to clean the round metal filter inside the recirculating filter assembly at the base of the tub.
It takes about 1/2 an hour to remove the lower wash arm, remove about 8 or 9 torx screws, take out a couple of plastic assemblies, scrape off gunk from the round metal filter and reassemble the parts.
It seems to me that this represents a real design flaw, as otherwise the cleaning quality of the dishwasher deteriorates.
Pros: Good price for a Maytag I thought. Cons: Door latch broke - can't open dishwasher now.
I bought this dishwasher in March 2004 since it was determined to be a 'best buy' according to Consumer Reports.
Previous unit was a Whirlpool and I would say that was a better model.
this is the worst dishwasher ever - and worst service by godlessamerica ,Jun 07 '05
Pros: shiny & purty Cons: the rudest, most incompetent service in memory.
i bought this dishwasher about a year ago. it has been broken for about 2 months, and neither "maytag service" (regular warranty) or "maytag dependability" (extended warranty) appears to want to do anything about it. since it initially broke on april 7th 2005 . . . i have had:
1 - 4 service calls
2 - serviceman tells me its the installers fault from a year ago
3 - next serviceman tells me it's the previous serviceman's fault
4 - next serviceman says the previous serviceman failed to reinstall parts, and it can't be fixed at all
5 - today's serviceman says he will order parts, made no commitment on when he will return to fix it.
it's always 8-12 days before they can schedule a service visit, the serviceman is invariable ignorant and rude, and the telephone people transfer you endlessly, can't decipher the previous repair comments, and act like they couldn't care less.
this has to be the most incompetent service organization on the planet.
Pros: No pros whatsoever Cons: badly made, terrible service
This is the worst experience with an appliance in my nearly 50 years. Our machine is now 18 months old. We have gone through 3 motors and two spray arm replacements plus numerous other visits for leaks etc. The thing makes a god awful screeching noise in the early part of the cycle. NEVER buy from the Maytag dealer. ALWAYS go to a big appliance store. Contrary to what you would think the dealers always side with Maytag and never replace the machine. They are dependent upon Maytag. Each time the thing breaks it takes at least 2 visits, one to diagnose and then wait for parts and then a vist to install. STAY AWAY!
One year warranty on labor not enough by jpf779 ,Jul 31 '05
Pros: Liked the size Cons: wished it worked
Well I made the mistake of buying a Maytag dishwasher. Naturally the first major problem started just after the one year warranty expired. My wife started to hear grinding noises at the rinse cycle. Then the machine stopped draining altogether several weeks later. We actually had to bail out the water. This problem would come and go, mostly come. A call to the very rude Maytag customer service people resulted in nothing. I called a local repairman to try and fix the problem, hopefully with two years on the parts, I won't have to pay for them. Never will I buy a Maytag appliance or recommend them to anyone. The Maytag man must be turning in his grave.
Pros: quiet at one time Cons: doesnt clean
has become noisy
I bought this dishwasher almost exactly a year ago. It has been extremely quiet until last week, now it makes a loud vibrating noise. It has never cleaned well. As other reviewers mentioned a fine granular grit is left in glasses. I have to rinse off all dishes before loading. It sometimes has trouble rinsing off ketchup, but as mentioned always leaves grit in glasses. I love rewashing my dishes by hand after they come out of the dishwasher! I do not work for any manufacturer. You can contact me at markphillpotts@hotmail.com. I would not buy anything from Maytag again. I am not picky, just want clean dishes. If you know of a good dishwasher let me know. Dont trust reviews on here, look where that got me.
Pros: None Cons: Everything about this unit is bad.
We purchased this unit to replace another Maytag that fried the electronic controls. We got another Maytag thinking that this was just a fluke and we wanted a quiet dishwasher. Well, this one is worse than the first. The repairman has had to come out and clean junk out of the machine that a normal dishwasher would chew up and discard without any trouble. Things get stuck in the impeller and make a lot of noise until it finally gets flushed out. It's cleaning ability is atrocious. Unless you put clean dishes into it, they will not come out clean. We've put up with this for a year now and have finally ordered a new Kenmore that's so quiet we didn't even know it was running until we opened the door.
Top Rack Has Faulty Design by jgormaniac ,Mar 31 '06
Pros: Good space for dishes Cons: Very poor upper tray roller design.
Last week, for the third time in 2 1/2 years, our top rack broke. This time, BOTH of the little plastic rollers broke and the rack (full of glasses) fell down when I pulled it out. This makes the dishwasher virtually useless.
Maytag replaced the entire trays twice, as the dishwasher was under warranty. Now, after the Maytag repairman said the dishwasher suffered from "faulty design." We're suffering for it now.
We hope Maytag has the decency to replace for free this tray, or at least provide us some replacement rollers for free. The rollers are in poor design and are destined to keep failing. Has the mighty Maytag company finally succumbed to the mediocrity of its competitors? Or, will Maytag treat its existing customers right?
We have had good use of our Maytag washer and dryer; but, this dishwasher has been a drag.
Joe Gorman
Pros: Fabulous, for about two weeks Cons: Very Unreliable
When we first bought this dishwasher, it was fabulous. It was quiet and cleaned far better than any dishwasher I'd owned previously. It is easy to load, holds a lot of dishes AND gets them clean. But within 2 weeks the problems started. The repairman came out often. Plastic pieces on the racks broke, the control panel had to be replaced (and the replacement was defective), food kept getting into the impellor and stopping the water from draining.("How does it get there?" the Maytag repairman would remark) The silverware basket started falling apart. It always took a long time for the parts to come in. As if that was not annoying enough, it started leaving the dishes gritty. The wash arms got gunk in them and wouldn't turn. (You can't take them apart to clean them out... brilliant) I'm told the water is supposed to be filtered so that doesn't happen. Well, it is happening and no one is willing to fix the problem. Maytag's basic design for this dishwasher is great, but their QA problems are costing them customers.
Pros: Maytag has the most well organized rack system. Cons: Doesn't clean. Agents were rude and unhelpful. I hope this company goes out of business.
What a terrible dishwasher! And Maytag service is the worst! The dishwasher does not wash the dishes, the glasses continually came out with food particles on them. I had 8 service calls in 9 months, and was still having to hand wash dishes after every load. Maytag factory service flat out told me: "This is not our problem." Fortunately, I'm a lawyer, and I just told them that I was drafting the complaint for filing with the court, and we'd let the judge decide if it was their problem or not. Lo and behold, the next day I got a call stating that I'll be getting a full refund! Stay away from Maytag, they are a disaster!
Fix the Latches then the Rack Rusts Away by psu4ever ,Oct 09 '06
Pros: Features for $, delayed start, "clean" light Cons: Poor quality -- latch breaks, racks rust through in 3 yrs
Purchased a Maytag MDB7600 in June 2003 for our new home. Worked acceptably at first. The latch broke at about 1.5 yrs. I took the door apart and found the broken parts were really cheaply constructed, so I bought 3 of each of the replacement parts and resigned myself to fixing it every year or so.
Rust began to appear on the upper and lower racks at about 2 yrs. So much for "Duraguard".
Its now been 3 years since the dishwasher was installed. The bottom rack looks disgraceful -- its actually rusted all the way through at one point. The top rack isn't far behind. I'm faced with deciding whether to buy replacement racks for a couple hundred dollars or replace the whole thing.
A dishwasher that only lasts 3 years ?!!! -- this has gone too far.
Pros: Works okay when in service Cons: Breaks often, unfixable, 2year life, premium price, NO customer service
Bought a 2004 MDB970AWW, $469 at HD. Leaked day 1, which I fixed myself - a gasket on the side-filler cup. Leaked from the bottom of the door, which Maytag instructed me to remove the front kickpanel and call back. This helped for a short time. Front door leak less often and only 1" puddle afterwards. Entire door latch assembly broke at 2 years. Maytag agrees to fix after 1 week barrage of phone calls, consuming about 20 hours of my time. Repair person very nice, but didn't repair parts obviously broken and gave me silence in response to direct questions. I tried to get a partial refund as a lemon unit.
Now Maytag Corporate says its all fixed and I can sell it if I don't like it. Ebay shows some other sucker trying to sell an identical model for $31. I have given up on this dishwasher, but will NEVER buy a Maytag again. Do the research, Maytag owns several other brands, don't get burned. Whirlpool just announced it purchased Maytag 4/2006, hope they can fix it.
Compared to the dishwashers we've... by nenine_dt3000 ,Dec 14 '02
Compared to the dishwashers we've had in the past this one is excellent. It leaves dishes and glasses exceptionally clean. It is so quite you can barely tell if it is running. The down side is that the middle rack is difficult to adjust up and down and doesn't hold too many large dishes.
Pros: None - It wasn't even priced well. Cons: A piece of junk - Pretty much sums it up.
I can't believe that these folks market their products as never needing to be repaired. I went from a Frigidaire that worked fine for 10 years (but was badly rusting) to this piece of plastic junk which has completely failed twice in eighteen months. Both times, it was the touch control panel and circuit board, and the ENTIRE control unit has to be replaced, which about equals what I paid for washer. I should have learned my lesson the last time I bought a Maytag clothes washer, the same thing happened... DEAD BEYOND REPAIR at eighteen months. Replaced that with a GE that works like a charm. I will never buy anything with the name Maytag on it again. If I got one for free, I wouldn't bother installing it because you just have to take it out again in eighteen months.
MAYTAGE DISHWASHER BOGUS WARRANTY by maytagjim ,Jun 22 '05
Pros: The machine has worked well when it worked. Cons: The Maytag dishwasher failed and flooded our house. Maytag dishwasher is bogus.
Our Maytag Dishwasher is three years old and has now stopped working. It also flooded our kitchen floor and basement ceiling and walls. Their warranty is bogus. MAYTAG charges $134.95 to come to your house to make a diagnosis! Then they will add the cost of labor for the repair. For that kind of service, we decided to skip the warranty and call a local repairman who can fix it for $85. No wonder Maytag servicing gets the lowest ratings in Washington Checkbook Magazine. Maytag Warranties are bogus.
Pros: It has lots of room and the buttons are easy to push. Cons: Noisy. Doesn't clean well. Leaves dirty water in the pan.
We have had trouble with this dishwasher from Day 1. It is much noisier than advertised, for one thing, but we decided to just live with that. But sometimes it makes really AWFUL noises, and we can't figure out why (nothing obviously rubbing against dishes, etc.) But our worst problem is that the bottom pan is frequently left with standing (dirty) water. Not always, but sometimes. We've done all the recommended troubleshooting to no avail. Now we are waiting for the repairman again, and washing our dishes by hand (again) this weekend while we wait. Since we have made several repair calls in the last year (installation was wrong to begin with) with not much satisfaction, we don't have high hopes. I would definitely not recommend this dishwasher to anyone.
Pros: Lots of features. Cons: Breaks down every couple of months. Has horrible, difficult to load racks. Junk.
My in-laws purchased this about 18 months ago. With a few months the impeller broke. It was replaced, then it stopped pumping out water. They gave up when they couldn't find the LOWES receipt and bought a Seimens.
About 6 months later they gave it to us, offering to buy whatever part it needed. I took it apart, flushed it out, put it back together and it seemed to work great, for a week! Then it stopped washing. It fills with water, the motor runs like mad, everything spins underneath, but nothing gets pumped up. I spent (wasted) and entire day of my life installing the thing, and it just won't work. There's no sense to it. Everything moves, nothing is broken, yet nothing works either.
Now we need to replace it again. I give up on the garbage.
Pros: Pretty Cons: Extremely noisy, long cycles, and it can't clean
This is by far, the absolute worst appliance I have ever owned (and at 53 years old I've owned quite a few!)
I chose a Maytag because I always thought it was the best money could buy. My old dishwasher was a Maytag and I loved it. Well, like the saying goes, they sure don't build them like they used to.
It is extremely noisy, takes forever to run through even its shortest cycle, and is difficult to load. I would be willing to put up with all of those downfalls if only it could clean. Nope...can't even do that!
This machine is only about a year old and I'm in the market for a new one.
Pros: It works great at first Cons: Things break, need replacing no technical help. I'm back to doing by hand!
I've had to replace the silverware baskets twice. They keep breaking through the bottom so now I try to make sure knives are point upward--not fun when trying to fill and empty. The adjustable dish racks quit staying up so THEY need replacing. NOW at just over 2 years of age, it will NOT clean my dishes. The glasses are always full of junk and the plates are filthy. We've checked the owners manual and can't find any assistance there. Supposedly the filter never needs cleaning. Riiiight. Only problem is, we can't find one. E-mails to Maytag go unanswered.
Personally? I would NOT recommend this dishwasher to anyone. I wish I had never bought it and had spent the bigger amount to buy the Jenn-Air sitting next to it in Lowes.
Maytag 7600 - WHAT A BUMMER! by miffedbymaytag ,Mar 17 '06
Pros: NONE! Cons: SHODDY PRODUCT AND PASS THE BUCK SERVICE.
I bought a Maytag Jetclean 7600 a little more than two years ago. It leaked so I called Maytag repair and they replaced the drain hose. But it still leaked. Then it was discovered that the interior case is cracked and that's why it leaked. Under their 20 warrantee I'm entitled to a new replacement. The Maytag repair people told that I needed to deal with the Maytag warehouse people, the Maytag warehouse people told me that I need to deal with The Maytag Store people, The Maytag Store people told me that I need to deal with the Maytag warehouse people. You get the picture.
The product sucks! But only slightly less than the service.
Pros: The deep interior design does allow for more large items, like pots. Cons: It isn't configured for my dishes. Parts are plastic; not durable.
I have had my built-in Maytag dishwasher for two years and have had service problems several times. The most recent is the door latch. The catch for the latch is made of two receivers which are made of plastic. They are horseshoe-shaped and one of the legs on both of the catches are broken. The part is flimsily made out of plastic...in fact it is molded as part of the control panel. Therefore, when that tiny part broke after about 27 months of use, the whole control panel had to be replaced. The bill for service was $124...but the part cost $52 of that. I called for Customer Service and they agreed to reimburse me the price of the part only. Prior to this dishwasher, I owned a Kitchenaid for about 20 years and wish I had gotten another one instead of this toy. I am fearful of what the future will bring.
Maytag Dishwasher Unreliable !!!! Poor Service Issues !!! by pascoboys ,Dec 04 '03
Pros: NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE Cons: Unreliable Poor Service Issues A word of caution avoid Matag if you can !
We bought a maytag dishwasher thinking it would be a good one but it has been problems since the beginning. At first it would not clean the dishes so we had them to out to repair it. Then again it would not clean the dishes Maytag tells me to wash the dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher LOL . So the guy comes out again and repairs it he brakes a seal on the water inlet and asks for some Teflon tape. I tell him I do not have and he says he fixed it without it. Now the next day this dishwasher is leaking in my house and has damaged my kitchen. So I contact matag to report the problem and see how to resolve it . They tell me It leaked because of my install and their first repairman said there was no leak. I get an independent repair men to see the damage and document the report. May tag continues to not pay my claim.
I WILL NEVER BUY A MAYTAG AGAIN!!! by cgino ,Aug 06 '05
Pros: NONE! Cons: IT DOESN'T CLEAN, IT DOESN'T DRY AND IT STAINS THE SILVERWARE OR RUSTS IT.
I bought a new Maytag diswasher which never really worked well so I called to have it repaired but the repair person told me I had to warm the water from my faucet first, and use Jet dry. My dishes weren't getting clean and my silverware was always stained. In fact it was stained and then began getting rusty so I had to buy several sets. The next time a few months later,(I was trying different soaps and different cycles etc) I called, I was told that I was using too much soap but again nothing was done. Water lays in the bottom and the ridge gets moldy. I can't stand this machine. And Maytag will do nothing about it. I won't buy a Maytag ever again. But I am going to keep calling them until this issue is resolved!
Pros: maytag made money off me Cons: I hate the entire dishwasher
where do I start!! Lets see, everytime after I run a load I open the machine to clumps of dishwashing soap. I have tried liquids, the cubes and powdered. I have to completely rinse and clean all the dishes before i put them in. The dishwasher also does not dry the dishes I have to hand dry them after the cycle is done. I think maybe the public should know Maytag is not maytag they were bought out by another company. so much for our maytag reliabity and quality
Pros: Tall tub, holds big pans. Cons: Very loud. Does not get dishes clean. Long cycle (2 hours).
This dishwasher never cleaned pots very well, even though we use Cascade and JetDry. Now it is 3 years old and stopped cleaning regular dishes properly. Tea cups and coffee mugs are stained, tomato sauce stills stains plates and cutlery is coated with fine powder. Sears came out twice to service this appliance, once re: extremely loud noise when draining water and today re: cleaning problem. Water is hot enough, using recommended detergent. Just doesn't clean dishes. I called Maytag for advice, they won't even talk to me because I bought it through Sears. Senior tech is coming next week. I will avoid Maytag like the plague when I replace appliances next time. I will also avoid Whirlpool who now owns Maytag.
