Pros: Inexpensive, may help sore nipples Cons: Usually unnecessary, no help for inverted nipples
Because I was not successful in my attempts to breastfeed my first baby, I became concerned while expecting my second baby that the problem might be the way I was built. I'd heard about inverted nipples, and being the type to worry, I administered the...

These are nothing to brag about by kar212 ,Nov 18 '05
Pros: None Cons: They seem to 'milk' your breasts, making you leak more.
I bought these primarily so my nipples didn't rub up against anything. I was hoping to bring relieve to my very sore, chapped nipples shortly after my son was born. Also, one of my nipples was slightly inverted and I thought this would help. Yes, they did keep my nipples from rubbing on anything, but they seem to facilitate leakage buy 'milking' my nipple. I would check on them an hour or two after putting them in and find a puddle of milk in the shell. And they were very tricky to pull out and empty them. I spilled a fair amount of breast milk in my lap because these little shells were filled. Oh yeah, they also give your chest a very strange shape when you have a shirt on.
I think I would have been better off just running around topless to assist in the healing of my sore nipples.
