Pros: 7 minutes to boiled water Cons: The lid needs to be reworked for easier use.
I really love the Black & Decker electric kettle, but it wasn't available when I needed to purchase another one. The Melitta Express Kettle appeared to function the closest, so I bought it Melitta Express Kettle The Melitta Express ...
Pros: Inexpensive, great for heating water for tea or instant coffee. Cons: Small opening hinders a good cleaning.
The Melitta Express Kettle came into our office to serve a specific need, to provide hot water to those who preferred hot tea over coffee. We have found that since moving into the new building and having 3 Conference Rooms that one coffee pot ...
Pros: Compact, safe, and somewhat fast... Cons: A little slower than I would want it to be.
We have been using this Melitta Express Kettle at out shop for some months now and it has been really nice. We mostly use is to make coffee lighter for the guys who do not like dark coffee. Some of our guys use the hot water to make tea for ...
Pros: Lightweight, easy to handle, cordless, reasonably attractive on the counter, quick boiling, inexpensive Cons: No audible "finished" alarm, somewhat awkward lid, plastic prone to mildew
When we bought our Jenn-air ceramic-glass top stove over a year ago, one of the first things we noticed was that our good old Revereware teakettle had 2 big problems - the copper bottom stained the glass (easy to remove, but not a good thing), and the ...
Pros: Cheap, fast, easy, and clean looking plastic kettle. Cons: Lid is awkward to operate. The plastic kettle may not hold up like metal.
I purchased the Melitta Express MEK17W cordless electric kettle to heat water for tea and yerba mate, a South American herbal tea. The Melitta kettle is very simple to use, and is faster to boil water than a tea kettle on my electric range. As a test, ...
A Kettle Who Needs a Recall by peterpottery ,Aug 18 '09
Pros: Melts nicely Pretty white. Cons: Melts at all.
The Melitta Kettle has big problems if you don't close the lid COMPLETELY. It continues to boil until it melts. Depending on how tight the lid is closed the shut-off will not work. A neighbor and I have had the same problem with this kettle.
Melitta (owned or made by Applica) sent me a replacement but it is going back too.

Pros: Cheap. Cons: You get what you pay for.
In the first year, it worked fine however after 12 months of use, the base no longer made electrical contact with the kettle. Nothing is more useless than a teakettle that won't heat water.
Kettle cracked after first use by fafanever ,Nov 28 '07
Pros: Heated water up quickly Cons: Cracked after first use.
Not sure if I bought a lemon but I used it once and took it outside (45-50F) to make some hot chocolate for the tennis team and I noticed a crack immediately. I talked the manufacturer and they thought I bought a lemon, but it could have been a real hazard had the scalding water leaked out the crack (which turned into a separation in the kettle and not just a crack) onto some one's hand.
The kettle heated up 1.7 liters very quickly. No mess while pouring until it cracked. Fortunately the "separation" was on the side of the kettle so we could continue to pour from the spout.
I will give it another try as I like the concept and the volume.
Melitta Express Kettle concern and complaint by rogerpolly ,Jan 14 '09
Pros: It works really quickly for that morning cup of tea Cons: doesn't shut itself off
It seems to hold up well enough through lots of use. I've been using it for my tea water primarily, but it doesn't seem to shut itself off. If I walk away for more than ten minutes and come back into the kitchen, it is still heating and boiling like crazy. If I don't shut it off myself, it will continue to boil until all the water is evaporated. I gave my brother one last Christmas and he's having the same problem, along with the metal layer on the inside having corroded. Other times I'll put some water in it and it will turn off when it's boiled. This is very inconsistent. I'm not sure what would happen if I put water in it to boil and went out to run an errand. It would either shut itself off or boil itself crazy.
