This thing is a Plastic piece of Poo
by jackske ,May 16 '05
Pros: None, the unit is poop! Cons: Made of all plastic construction. Did not last, cheap!
I purchased this product at a Home Depot. I used it for less than 2 years when it broke on me. The unit is made from all plastic construction, which is the main problem w/ it. I went to turn on an outside water faucet and the timer unit shot out at me and I received a nice rain shower. After looking at the unit. The internal plastic piping had a 1" crack through it from top to bottom so it's useless. Cheap plastic construction that didn't last is the problem. I don't recommend this water timer to anyone. Spend a little more money and get yourself one made out of stainless steel if possible.

cheap piece of junk
by thx1104 ,Sep 10 '09
Pros: none -- really -- Cons: cheap piece of ****
This worked for about one month .... then, one day, it did not shut off the water to the plants in the back. We ended up watering those plants for more than three days continuously (we had a very high water bill later that month). We had a similar timer to this one in the 80's that lasted for more than 10 years, and it was hooked up exactly like the Melnor, with a hose between the timer and the faucet.
