Pros: Great snow tires. Short of studs, not sure what else could be better. Cons: Doesn't handle puddles well.
Since I began to drive (rear-wheel drive) German sports sedans, I've had to get winter tires at the first sign of snowfall. Even a little frost gets my cars tail-happy. The X-Ices are the best snow tires I've ever run. They are currently installed on a ...
Pros: Low noise, decent mileage for a winter tire, great traction in most conditions Cons: Expensive, does NOT handle CORNERING well in even light to moderate snow conditions or ice
Winter in Quebec can get pretty rough, especially when you head out into the "wilds" north and east of Quebec City. Lots of heavy snowfall and temps regularly dropping into the -25°C to -30°C range in late December to early February. This means you ...
Pros: Cheaper than Blizzaks. Quiet ride. Cons: Terrible traction on ice.
I have lived in Alaska for 28 years, I during those years I have been exposed to all kinds of winter driving conditions. Until four years ago when we purchased Blizzak tires for our Maxima, we have always put studded winter tires on our vehicles. The ...
Pros: Great snow grip, good dry handling, very smooth and quiet. Cons: Ice performance could be better. Highway whine noticeable.
I bought these tires for my Mazda MX-3 and my wife's Ford Escort. Snow traction is very good, which is to be expected. Dry handling is good too, not like an all-season, but acceptable considering half the winter where I live it's dry roads. Wet ...
Pros: Quiet highway tire. Smooth riding. Decent grip in cold dry conditions. Cons: Poor grip on cold wet roads and in heavy snow conditions. Very expensive.
Well I was looking forward to my purchase of the new Michelin X-Ice for my Chev Venture. I was totally impressed by my previous sets of Michelin Alpins on my Pontiac Sunfire and Ford Taurus. First the good points. Its a very smooth riding tire. Quiet. ...
Pros: Good price, relatively quiet, good traction, superb cornering in the snow Cons: Not quite as good as real studded snow tires
I picked up a set of 4 (size: 205/70QR15) from tirerack.com a couple months ago for about $90 U.S. dollars. Winter came a bit late in Central New York this year. I'm using them on a '95 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.1L (not exactly a ton of power). So far, ...
Pros: excellent snow/ice traction, quiet ride, excellent handling/roadholding in dry or wet conditions Cons: expensive!
I bought these tires to replace the now discontinued Arctic Alpins from Michelin. I was somewhat reluctant to try the X-Ice tires because they were just introduced to the market and the stiff tariff of $522 to have 4 new tires installed was another ...
Pros: Great traction.
Quiet, comfortable ride.
Good handling. Cons: I can't use them all year!
I purchased these tires to replace my previous snow tires, Michelin Artic Alpins, which have had numerous seasons of Canadian winter abuse thrown at them. I was initially disappointed when I heard that Michelin had discontinued the Artic Alpins ...
Pros: very affordable, stopping on icy condition is not as scary, good all around winter tires Cons: still a new product
considering this are new tires, i had mix feelings about them. i myself prefer the nokian winter tires on my car but my wife didn't wanna spend too much money since she wants to sell the car in a year or 2. her all season tires were all chewed up and ...
Pros: Amazing packed snow and ice traction with greatly improved deep snow traction. Cons: None, this tire does it all and does it well.
These tires have all the great qualities of the Alpin and go further in terms of ice and deep snow traction! I have used the Alpins for a few years and love them. I have the X-ice on our new car; Jetta TDI Wagon (our older car, with alpins, is the same ...
Pros: comfortable, quiet, great traction Cons: So far none that I know of
Michelin X-ICE tires are the first set of snow tires I've bought so I honestly can't compare to other brands, but I love them. I researched various brands and this tire was highly reviewed...plus they were a great deal at Costco. They are on a Honda Prelude SH (FWD) and are driven in Utah in mountain conditions. This was the first winter I had snow tires on this vehicle and there was a noticeable difference. I HIGHLY recommend snow tires to anyone now. I felt safer driving my car then our other vehicle a Subaru Outback AWD (though that did not have snow tires!). We had heavy storms this winter and I was able to test the tires on lots of snowy roads. I was really impressed with the cornering on snow pack and start/stopping traction. My confidence driving in snow has greatly improved.
