Pros: Great wet handling, quiet, extremely durable. Cons: A little pricey until you factor in the durability.
My Chrysler Concorde has just over 70,000 miles on it at this point and it looked like it was getting close to time for its third set of tires. I had a set of Goodyear Eagle GAs on the car which ended up being a bad decision. The tires were purchased ...
Pros: Good in all weather, smooth ride, handles well, quiet. Cons: You have to be a member of Costco or Sam's Club to purchase these tires.
First off I would like to correct the Epinions statement that the tire is discontinued. The Michelin X Radial is very much available. I bought a replacement set for my son's 1998 Subaru Outback wagon just 3 weeks ago, and they are still on sale now at ...
Pros: Quiet, good handling and braking, long tire life warranty Cons: Expensive
Aloha,In January of '09 I purchased my first set of replacement tires for my '06 Prius. The Goodyear Integrity tires that came with the car only lasted a disappointing 3 years and 30,000 miles. The Goodyear tires performed well in regards ...
Pros: Great traction (in comparison to BFGoodrich Longtrail T/A) Quiet, smooth ride Cons: None, so far.
I've been buying tires at Sam's Club for many years for many different vehicles. In the past, I bought what was on the rack, usually the BFGoodrich Longtrail TA for my Chevy S-10. Performance seemed good. Then Sam's stopped stocking my ...
Life after 65,000 plus miles by ttweb1 ,Jun 29 '09
Pros: Good traction in all types of weather, solid cornering. Decent treadlife. Cons: Mild tire noise but probably the poor insulation of the van.
We replaced our OEM tires with X Radial DTs from Costco on an all wheel drive Chrysler Minivan with about 45,000 miles on it. I am at 110,000 miles now and looking to replace them. The tires aren't down to the minimum yet 2/32 but a couple have reached 3/32nds. So I could probably get to 115 or 120k if I wanted to take them to the wear bars. They have been great tires. I have driven them through 3 Minnesota winters and various rain storms and have never felt uncomfortable with their handling capabilities. I am pretty satisfied with the 65,000 miles I got from them even though they are rated to 80,000 (at 2/32nds tread) I plan to buy another set of 4 today from Sam's Club. They are offering $70 off a set of 4.
4 Michelin X Radials for a 2002 VW TDI/GLS wagon by diesellover ,Aug 21 '07
Pros: Smoother ride, less noise, on both Dry and Wet pavement. Cons: The Michelin X Radials are a price bargain to the MXV4 Energy Plus.
Very pleased with these Michelin X Radials for our 2002 VW TDI/GLS wagon.
The handling is excellent on dry and wet pavement.
I've have Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus tires on my 2004 VW TDI/GLS wagon, but I actual prefer to drive the 2002 VW wagon with the Michelin X Radials. The Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus tires are more expensive, but my comparison prefers the Michelin X Radials.
Pros: Inexpensive, c. $60/Sams, originally quiet, better gas mileage, great ride and handling. Cons: Developed noise somewhere around 45,000 miles, so far as I can tell.
Just a caveat regarding the Sam's Michelin X tire...I agree with most of the reviews that they are a great tire. I once bought a Fiat Spyder with them installed, 45,000 miles, and drove the car to 115,000, then removed the tires, put another 15,000 miles on them on another car. They may have been original equipment on the Fiat. S put a set from Sam's on my 2000 Camry three years ago. This set of MIchelins were excellent, quiet, great handling, and my gas mileage improved, BUT about 40,000 they, or at least one, began to "sing"...and have been noisy since. I have religiously rotated the tires, the tire man can't find any sign of scalloping, but the tires are noisy. I would like to hear from other owners with relatively high miles on these tires...thanks....
Pros: Excellen ware, extremely quite, good traction, designed for speed rating of S and above. Cons: Price.
I have had these tires since December 2005 on a 2004 Toyota Camery. The tires now have over 80,000 miles and are still going. I bought them at Sam's club which comes with free rotation - my advice is to make sure you rotate your tires every 8,000 miles or so. This way they ware out evenly. The X radials are extremely quite and obviously have lived their warranty term of 80,000 miles. I could still go another 5K miles or so but in Michigan with winter coming I am about to replace them. They are now priced at $93 each at Sam's club plus $15 for mounting. Michellin is having an instant rebate of $70 until September 30, 2009. I am thinking of going with the Hydro Edge model which is a bit more pricy, but appears to have better wet traction. They are also guaranteed for 90,000 miles and six years. If you own a Camery 2004, you know that the breaks are just simply horrible. I am so disappointed in Toyota - they have lost thier touch. So, that is why I am thinking of tires with better wet traction.
Pros: nice ride in all weather. Cons: Poor treadlife. Wore even, but fast.
Bought a used corolla with 2 near new michelin x's & 2 general tires, not liking the miss match I bought 2 new michelin x's & thought I was good for awhile. After 17k miles the 2 originals were completely bald & the newer 2 were half tread. I will say the tire handled well in all weather - as should be expected of a high dollar tire. Otherwise appears to be a typical 40k mile tire (don't think these would've made 35k). Not near as good a performance as with Cavalier cientra plus or Uniroyal Tiger paw AWP's. Very dissapointed with these michelin's.
