The best widely available beer

by nolefan32 , Feb 28 '09
Pros: Great, rich flavor; available just about anywhere
Cons: Not the absolute best, but among the best you can get almost anywhere
Michelob AmberBock is an Anheuser-Busch product, and as such, you won’t find too many beer snobs who will admit to liking it. I honestly believe that that the only “good” beers to most of those guys is the one that can only be found in ...

Amber BOAK (lean-n-mean 3)

by proxam Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 27 '04
Pros: Um...
Cons: In under 15 words? No chance.
I know what you're thinking. "Why has he mispelt(sic) the word Bock in the title?" Well, you'll have to read the review to find the answer to that one, won't you? You know me, I'll drink any (and/or every) beer that I come across (now there's ...

Imitation Bock

by lpteague , Feb 18 '03
Pros: More flavor than most macro-brewed domestics.
Cons: Half-assed attempt at a true dark lager.
I've gone out of my way to applaud Michelob on its specialty line in the past. I think any time a large brewery such as Anheuser-Busch makes an effort to produce better beer, it should be commended. I'm a huge fan of Michelob's Honey Lager, and I've...

Amber bock is the Best Beer in America

by natureboy27 , Feb 18 '03
Pros: Tastes great, smooth, looks good
Cons: hard to find cans
Amber Bock tastes great and looks good. Its not as dark as your Giniuess, which I think tastes like tar. Amber bock looks dark, but tasts smooth with no after taste at all. You don't have to worry about the beer face. Give it a try if you like...

It's a bock

by texasjer , Sep 06 '01
Pros: Extremely smooth and good tasting. Great served cold.
Cons: Could have more character
Rarely do I drink anything from the Michelob Specialty Brewing Group that I do not like, and this one is no exception. Great Texas style bock (not be confused with German bock). Rarely are malty brews as smooth as Amber Bock, and Amber Bock is certainly...

Perhaps I'm a bit prejudiced... however...

by kpersonett , Apr 20 '01
Pros: Excellent Flavor, No After-Taste, Decent Price
Cons: Perhaps a LITTLE bit light, compared to other American Darks
While I prefer a slightly stronger flavor in a bock beer, Michelob Amber Bock really is very well balanced. Many dark brews will leave you wanting water to wash the after-taste away, Amber Bock does not.

Overall, compared to our local Bock...

Tastes like a real beer mixed with water

by stinky138 , Feb 24 '01
Pros: You'll have no trouble finding it if you like it.
Cons: Weak, watery swill.
An old friend of mine came to town today, and we headed out to have a couple of beers. So, off we went to Hooters. While that provided the backdrop for much hedonism and carrying on in our youth, we simply had lunch and some beer today and kicked back....

Great Lager

by factor31 , Feb 14 '01
Pros: Smooth and refreshing
Cons: Somewhat Filling
While I am not a great expert on beer, I do notice when a different or new product is introduced. I was in the liquor store looking to buy some Miller Lite before the first round of the NFL playoffs started when a beer I had not see before caught my...

It may say Bock on the can

by andaryl Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 14 '00
Pros: It's drinkable
Cons: Not a Bock, added rice, low in flavor
My first stop after work last night was at the pool hall. They are very mainstream in their selection but they did take my advice a while back in adding Boddingtons and Newcastle. However, having tried everything they had to offer I noticed an Amber Bock...

Oh, sweet nectar of the Gods!

by ESTIU , Nov 18 '00
Pros: Bold rich taste
Cons: I haven't found any
Someone has really went all out when they decided to make this beer! Amber Bock surprised me with how good it tastes. I am very impressed that an American beer actually tastes almost as good as Guinness Stout. That is so amazing!

It has a...

One of Anheuser-Busch's Better Beers

by 4-1-1 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Oct 23 '00
Pros: interesting change of pace, a good tasting beer
Cons: maybe too sweet and too light; there are better beers for the money
Michelob has long been marketed by Anheuser-Busch as a premium beer, but a simple taste will not leave you very impressed and you’ll scratch your head wondering what makes it different from Budweiser.

Michelob Amber Bock, however, is a...

The Empire Strikes Bock

by Bruguru Bruguru is a Lead on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Oct 03 '00
Pros: Malty, chocolatey brew
Cons: Not really a bock
In the early nineteen-eighties, the craft beer scene in the United States was in an embryonic state. There were imports to be found here and there, but the Empire did not consider these a threat. Indeed, the Empire exerted its own influence on the...

Favorite Amber Jewel

by gafergus , Sep 21 '00
Pros: Flavor, Color, Price
Cons: None
I enjoy light to medium bodied beers (I hate having to use a knife and fork to drink a beer) and I was initially a little leary of Michelob Amber Bock partly because the packaging is almost all black and the bottles are very dark too, which made me think...

Bock of the future...

by PALWalrus , Sep 20 '00
Pros: Good with food, more rounded than the normal offerings
Cons: Lacking a good finish, honey hung on too long for me
Like so many others who have commented on this beer I have been harrassed and hassled into trying this particular beer because many seem to see this type of beer as the future of beer itself!!! I think that my friends see this as some kind of crossover...

Is it Amber? Is it Bock? What is it?

by Bryan_Carey Bryan_Carey is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Jul 27 '00
Pros: Cheaper than Other Craft Beer
Cons: Rice
Dear Mr. August Busch: We, the members of the beer drinking public are very thankful that your company decided to break with its tradition of brewing American- style lager by launching the Michelob Specialty Beer product line. However, we are quite ...
