This Microplane Grate N Shake is convenient and easy to use.  It effectively provides a grater and storage for the whole and grated  nutmeg.  You will store whole nutmegs in one compartment and grated nutmeg in the compartment beneath the grater.   The device is easy to hold in your hand while drawing the whole nutmeg against the grater.  Grated nutmeg sits in a clear compartment beneath the grater, which makes it easy to determine how much you've grated.  You will use far more nutmeg with this approach!  It's so easy to use and grated nutmeg stays under control.  Just the right size to store in your spice cabinet.  I like having all the equipment and materials needed together in one spot.
