Pros: Good value. The software will plot a route with multiple stops that can be customized. Cons: Little or no support; no manual; no warranty. No dial-up or on-line customer support.
I own several versions of this software including from 2004 through 2006 with GPS. I have used it frequently for about two years. It has some good features and some poor ones. I get the impression that Microsoft spends few resources "updating" the ...

Pros: The precision and accuracy of the software. Cons: They change the speed traveling option.
Tuesday, April 05, 2005 Like wine, it's only getting better with the years! Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 add some improvements from previous version. I have to write what I've wrote about the 2004 issue, simply because it still apply! I ...

Pros: Easy to use, locates everything for you. It's like having the country at your fingertips. Cons: Using it on a laptop is bulky in a car.
I own this program and i use it on my laptop computer. I use this program with the laptop for long road trips. I keep the laptop in the front seat of my car. I love it because it is so accurate and detailed. The bad thing about this is that a ...

Not as good as it was in 2001
by iloverocknroll ,Jun 15 '05
Pros: easy to use Cons: no rivers on map closeups, poor topographical maps
I have the 2001 version, needed to upgrade. However, the new version does not show the rivers on the local maps. Since this is important to me, and the legend indicates that it would show rivers, I am very disappointed in the new program. When seen side by side with the older version, the roads are mapped somewhat differently, making me wonder which one is correct?
The topographical map is very poor, much too broad to be of value.

The other's are better
by unsatisfied74 ,Jun 10 '05
Pros: Cheap Cons: Cheap
I bought this to see if the maps were any better than in Street Atlas USA 2005. They are pretty much the same. But you can do so much more with Street Atlas like have it give you spoken directions so you don't need to constantly look at your computer. Plus it has over 4,000,000 places of interest. I noticed after I bought Streets and Trips that it only has 1,000,000.

This works great
by eclipse ,Feb 15 '05
Pros: -Ease of installation
-Ease of use
-Features
-Price Cons: None so far.
Streets & Trips 2005 works just fine.
Easy to install. Easy to use. Lots of great features including download-able construction reports. The software makes it easy to adjust your route rather than sitting in traffic.
This software has a tracking feature that allows you to see "yourself" on the map in real time, as you drive down the road. Just plug in your GPS into the usb port on the computer. Very useful on a smaller sized laptop with no serial/db9 port. I was able to connect my Garmin GPS V and enjoy this feature. The software Gamin includes will not do this...Go figure.

Microsoft Street and Trips 2006 with GPS
by robi99 ,Jun 20 '06
Pros: Inexpensive. Easy install. Loaded with features. Works great. Price keeps dropping. $79.99 at Costco Cons: Requires a laptop, otherwise none.
I just bought this package after months of contemplating buying an automotive GPS. I went with Streets and Trips because I don't drive often enough in strange places to justify the expense of a dedicated GPS. I own a laptop and for $80.00, I now have a system that does everything a GPS would do,and more, albeit a much larger footprint.
The software installed flawlessly and with just a few minutes of poking around, I was able to map trips and drive with the GPS. If you always have a car full of people, this may not be for you but with one or two people in the car, there is always room for a laptop. Reviews of the 2005 version stated that there were no voice prompts. If true, this would be a big drawback. The 2006 version has voice prompts in a very pleasant voice and I was amazed at how well it performs. Big fonts display your next turn. There are more features than I have yet to discover. It shows route, compass direction, Latitude and Longitude, altitude.
